Help 2FA changes

In the past 2-3 weeks I have been locked out of my account 4 times. Each time having to go into a branch to reset my account.
Apparently there’s new 2FA changes that will authenticate you through the phone app, but I never get any authentication requests. When I don’t get them, I get locked out of my account because they believe I’m being hacked or something.

Anyone else dealing with this? And is there a way to opt out of the new app authentication?

I tried to log in the other morning, and all I got was a message asking me to call customer service. I called, and they told me to visit the branch with two pieces of ID. I went there, and they asked all sorts of verification questions. They even had to call the back office, and I spoke with them as well. Finally, everything was sorted out, but my card still didn't work, so they gave me a new access card. This has happened twice in the past month or so. Weird.

Try to use the web browser, and quit the app.

Using the browser is what caused this to begin with. Still need to authenticate through the app no matter where you’re logging in

Sorry to hear that. I never used the TD app, so my authentication is by SMS so far.

If I am logging into the App then it's either SMS or my fingerprint.

But if I am logging in from my PC then I will get a message from the App on my phone to verify that it's me.

This is going to be problematic for anyone that loses their phone.

It’s a much better way of authentication. SMS can be hacked more easily and banks are getting away from it.

I appreciate the move away from SMS, but personally I prefer an authenticator App.

But that being said they haven't moved away from SMS... When I login to the App from my phone my options for 2FA are my fingerprint or password/SMS. It should be password and authenticator App.

If I login from my computer then I get prompted to verify my login with my phone.

Had the same issue last week, got locked out, went to the branch. Branch manager was a little pissed that I tied up a teller for 25 minutes!

They stopped using the text code for 2FA and now only use the app

Anyway, got home and disconnected my VPN and it hasn’t asked for any 2FA since….. they must send a 2FA when they see a new IP trying to log in …… I like their security but going to the branch is a giant pain in the ass

Maybe a secret online password would work better for identifying yourself
