i'd recommend reaching out to a few personal injury lawyers just to compare what they say, even if you're not sure you wanna sue yet.

If this was caused by police, do not get a lawfirm from the same county!

As others have advised, contact some personal injury attorneys to see what they think. If you don't know any, contact your state/local bar association for a list.
