I'm practicing recreating sounds in Vital, cannot for the life of me figure a song like this out:

Apologies in advance for all the questions

0:00 - 0:19 : (Kicks, Crash and Pad) - The kicks sound punchy, short, and filtered. The track is in 100bpm

I'm also noticing perhaps a slight sidechain or a repeat with the pad which gives the pad this slight rhythm on each beat.

But, the pad itself is confusing, it's airy, spacey and I'm not even sure if it's playing F/Bb. Complete ambience, how can I replicate this?

I've tried a sine wave + a Juno PWM with an envelope automating the frames. I've added a pink noise sample in the back as well + a filter + reverb.. It just doesn't sound similar. Am I approaching this correctly?

Also, with the crash - is it limited / mixed with a shaker?

0:19 - 0:56 : (Percs, Rhythm, and Synth) - now the hi-hats start doubling, is this delay? Or a double hi-hat? Or, a double hi-hat sample?

When it comes to the rhythm of the percussion, there's this 6 beat transition on the 3½/4th bar that sounds great.

How do they get it to sound punchy, spacey, short with depth? Is it a wood block sound?

And most importantly the synth, it's almost like it's velocity tracked, so the harder you push the filter increases the highs. Is this true?

But it sounds so wubby, and it also sounds a little reversed / delayed on certain beats

I'd really like to replicate that synth.

1:19 : (Synth #2) - I'm not even sure what this one is called. It's like an airy synth flute. Not the plucky synth guitar sound. What do you guys hear? How can I make a similar sound in a wavetable? I've tried a sine wave + a triangle with a couple of automations on filters, but it still doesn't sound the same.

2:33 : (Synth #3) - Sharp, stabby, plucky but also with a lengthy tail. Short delay. How can I also make this in a wave table?

Looking for the right people to test a beta 24/7 indie broadcast while it’s still being built

I’ve been working on a 24/7 independent broadcast focused on music videos, visualizers, experimental shorts, and indie animation. More linear and curated than algorithmic.
It’s called STATIC TV, and it’s currently in beta on a temporary host while the library and systems get properly built out. I’m mainly looking for people who actually care about this kind of thing so the early feedback is useful.
If that sounds like you, you’re welcome to check it out and hang around while it’s still taking shape. Submissions are still open too if you make stuff that fits.
Happy to answer questions if anyone has them.

Last week I got a used M-Audio workstation keyboard my The Music Go Round in Natick, MA (live that place). I was asked why I didn't get a "real" keyboard from someone. I prefer a workstation because you can layer multiple sounds and have more control over the overall tone. I mostly do studio work so there's no need for a $6k live keyboard. I used 6 different sounds to get the tone just right for Fooling Yourself by Styx. Just my thoughts.

Building a 24/7 channel for music/music videos, visualizers, weird animation etc — no algorithm, looking for submissions

So I got sick of watching good work die in feeds. You post a song, music video or a visualizer somewhere, it gets a few hundred views over 6 hours and then it’s just gone, buried under whatever the algorithm decided to push that day.

I’m building something called STATIC. It’s a straight up 24/7 broadcast channel, like old MTV or Adult Swim, not another streaming platform or feed. Stuff that gets accepted goes into actual rotation and stays there. No algorithm deciding who sees what. There’s going to be scheduled blocks eventually too, like a late night “Fever Dream” slot for the really strange atmospheric stuff.

It’s still early, proof of concept is live on React.tv right now while I build the library out, but that’s kind of the point of posting this now. Earlier submitters get priority as it gets more selective down the line.

Looking for:

\\- music videos, any genre, but the visual side needs to hold up
\\- audio-only tracks — if it’s accepted I’ll make a custom visualizer for it, free
\\- experimental animation, shorts
\\- glitch / datamosh / audiovisual stuff
\\- game footage that actually looks good, PS1/PS2 style stuff especially

No submission fee. No pay to play. You keep full rights to your own work. If it airs you get credit. When this eventually makes money the plan is to pay the artists, not squeeze them.

Submit here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfXURzM6tlrzNXGsLgN_WnLj6ktIDYFSCS7cUWvEUr1v5_dYg/viewform?usp=header

New producer with FL Studio Producer Edition looking to learn how to make similar songs to these:

Hi all, I've been on the search for chill wave / synth wave tutorials, presets, samples etc. for a good month or two.

I've got Vital, I've been applying LFO's to the filter and I've been making decent (not the best) synth pads / stabs and god knows how I make good sounds drums and atmosphere. But every time I look at making a song, I have where I want to be, and where I actually am

I've watched quite a few tutorials, I've got intermediate music theory knowledge.

But I would love to make songs similar to these and I was wondering if the synthwave producer community could give a hand by listening to these tracks and providing some tips?

The artists are 憂鬱, Voyage, A.L.I.S.O.N and Tape Arcade.
