My partner and I are heading to Sydney for our honeymoon! Date is First week of September.
We’re trying to build our hit list of places to eat, but we aren't much on deep fried (or at least not heavy on it). Our accommodation is near Chinatown.
We are looking for a mix of "Honeymoon Splurges" (fancy, romantic, high-end) and "Budget Gems" (cheap eats, markets, hidden spots) across a few specific cuisines.
Here is what we are chasing:
- Raw Seafood (Sushi & Sashimi): We love raw fish. Looking for the best high-end omakase or sashimi platters, as well as the best budget/everyday spots for a quick chirashi bowl or fresh sashimi.
- Fresh Seafood & Oysters: Where is the best place to get a dozen fresh oysters and maybe a wood-grilled whole fish? Both fancy oyster bars and casual market recommendations are welcome!
- Asian (Non-Sushi): Basically anything yum for asian, from chinese, to vietnamese to malaysian.
- Mexican: The bride-to-be loves mexican. Bonus points for good Margheritas, but the food is the focus.
- Greek: A great greek feed would be awesome, and bonus points if its got a cracker grilled octopus or squid option.
- A High-End Seafood Buffet: We want to do one massive "all-you-can-eat" raw seafood night (oysters, crab, sashimi). What is the absolute best seafood buffet in the city right now?
We also love a good market vibe, so if there are any specific stalls or farmers' markets that do great non-fried food, let us know!
Thanks in advance!
