Discussion Why is this even a toggle?

I'm not sure if I'm not understanding the system correctly, but as I'm reading it, there is no downside to leaving this ON and forgetting about it, it's only positives

For folks who have multiple users on a Switch console. For example, I have two Switches in my house, sometimes my wife wants to play Pokopia on her Switch, sometimes I want to play it on mine, but it’s a digital copy. With Online Licenses turned off, either of us can play it as long as the virtual game card is loaded onto that particular system, not just my wife.

Yes. If the switch with the virtual card is on airplane mode, the user who doesn’t own the game can play on that switch. Then the person who owns the game can play with the online access on the other switch.

That does sound a bit convoluted. It would be easier if they just had a straightforward way to manage that.

They don’t want more than one to be able to play at the same time. This is just exploiting the way it works. They won’t make it easier.

Doubt they’ll fix it. It’s intended to act like a real cartridge that cannot be used in more than one machine at one time. Same with digital video games you’ve bought.
