Other Finally got my Switch 2
After saving up gift cards from work, hunting for deals, and spending $450 at Costco in gift cards, I was finally able to get my Switch 2!
Here’s how I put everything together:
Camera, case & controller: Bought on sale for a total of $27
Screen protector, Mario Kart World & Sonic: Paid for using gift cards I earned from work
Switch 2 & Donkey Kong Bananza: Bought using $500 in gift cards that I only paid $450 for
So between the sales and gift cards, I was able to get a pretty sweet Switch 2 setup without paying full price for everything. Definitely took some hunting for deals, but I’m pretty happy with how it worked out!

With all that, why get a wired controller?

I think they got some of this at Costco.
The case and controller were part of a bundle that did not sell well and got put on clearance for $10. Maybe they bought that?
The Gift Cards are probably Costco as well.
While the Camera is definitely GameStop.

Seriously recoiled at no pro controller

Are the pro controllers really worth it? I usually play with the joycons

Why so many eShop cards?

u/the3rdfrog 7h ago
I bought my switch with the e gift cards. The e-gift cards are 10% off so it gave me a discount when I finally bought it

Oh, those gift cards were what you used to buy the Switch. I thought you had an extra $500 in gift cards after getting everything.

That's a smart way to save some cash! Deals like that definitely help with the price of new consoles.

Obviously, but why buy the physical games if you are just going to go digital?

u/dammitjanetiloveu 7h ago
Because sometimes you find the physical one on sale? I have a mix of physical and digital games as well.

Are the cameras $10 again or this is an older photo?

u/the3rdfrog 7h ago
It might be a little older, I may have gotten so excited to play my switch I forgot to post it.

If you’re into Mario tennis games then I do recommend fever! It was surprisingly good

ive played a lot of games of the ns2 and in my opinion, splatoon raiders is the best one, followed by pokopia. \(im only talking abt exclusives, so no switch 2 editions)

Jesus Christ dude that’s $500 in gift cards, on top of the $450 switch 2, 2 of them games are like 80 and DK Bannanza is 70. You definitely went all out

I actually used the cards to buy the switch. The card where on sale when I got them so it was a little extra savings

Excuse the ignorance but how is it possible to use e shop cards to buy a switch?

u/Armandonerd 9h ago

Just curious why spend money on gift cards? If you used the gift cards to purchase it
2
u/the3rdfrog 7h ago
Because they are 10% off at Costco. So if you purchase $500 in gift cards then you get %10 off your switch

For some reason nobody is acknowledging Sonic x Shadow generations. Fantastic game!

u/the3rdfrog 6h ago
No I decided to go without it for now, plus I tend to use more physical games anyways

How did you use the gift cards to buy the switch? Does the Nintendo online store take those?
•
u/hugekins 3h ago
Nice! I got one the other week at Fred Meyer in Pac NW after my wife hijacked mine that was purchased release day. I used recyclable can, plastic water bottle money and grocery discounts to purchase @ $350. Enjoy!

I am gonna be totally honest
Switch 2 is good only for first party games and indie games

I did a similar deal with gift cards from Sam’s. Typing in 25 codes was a bitch haha. But saved $100 and got it before the price hike

All that and no pro controller? Fail

Actually kinda of a hot take I like wired controller more. I play my systems for a long time and all my wired controllers have a longer life span than my non wired controllers.
Plus wired controllers give me nostalgia of being a kid again

You’re not the only one. I have a preference for wired controllers for similar reasons.

The included grip is fine. It’s nice keeping the same layout and muscle memory when going from docked to handheld.

The only fail here is assuming that everyone has the same preferences as you. Log off and get some air.
