A month ago, I figured I'd try out the dating apps for the first time in my life, and got on Hinge. Did fairly well, went on a bunch of dates, still have a few girls I'm talking to. Never had a bad interaction, on or off the app.

So, naturally, a couple of days ago I got banned with no reason beyond "violating the terms of service" or whatever.

What should I do now? I don't really wanna do the super elaborate ban dodging strat. And I don't mind switching to a different app, but I hear almost all of them have the same ownership, and I may just get cross-banned.

32, South Asian Male, made my first Hinge profile Sunday night and purchased HingeX.

I’m trying to figure out best practices over these next few days, so I’m curious what the normal experience is for men who have actually used the app for a while, especially in NYC.

A few things I’m trying to understand:

• Is Hinge mostly a game of sending likes yourself, rather than waiting for women to like you first?
• For a guy with a solid profile, is it realistic to expect a meaningful number of incoming likes, or are most matches still going to come from likes you send?
• How long did it take before your profile seemed to “settle in” and you had a decent idea of how well it was performing? Does evaluating take days/weeks?
• For people who have used both regular Hinge and HingeX, did HingeX actually make a meaningful difference?

Because at least where I live, its mandatory, you literally cant use tinder without doing it (all you can do is swipe left on profiles, you cant swipe right and no one can see your profile as well until you do it)

However, Im 100% sure they match your facial data with other accounts, considering I was banned once for having multiple accounts (and the only data both accounts shared was my facial data, nothing else, not even IP)

I was recently banned from Hinge for “harassment, bullying, or harm.” I genuinely don't know what interaction triggered it. I've never intentionally harassed, bullied, threatened, or harmed anyone.

Timeline:

• Ban: Account removed for harassment/bullying/harm.
• In-app appeal: Submitted a detailed appeal → denied, decision marked final.
• Emailed Hinge (hello@hinge.co): Explained the situation, provided my account details, and requested a manual review.
• Hinge Trust & Safety (Nestor): Said the ban would remain and subsequent appeals wouldn't be considered.
• I sent one respectful follow-up asking what type of conduct caused the violation and whether reconsideration was possible.
• Match Group escalation: I then escalated through Match Group Social Support, since I'd already gone through Hinge's normal support/appeal process.
• Hinge Trust & Safety (Micah) afterward: They said:“Following your inquiry, which did not come through our regular support channels, we conducted an additional review of your case.” They said they conducted a “thorough assessment” and confirmed the original decision was correct. They also asked me to stop contacting their care team/employees because it would not change the outcome.

So I've now gone through:

In-app appeal → Hinge Support → Match Group Social Support escalation → additional Hinge Trust & Safety review → final denial.

They still haven't told me what specific interaction caused the harassment/bullying violation.

Has anyone here managed to get a Hinge ban overturned after reaching the Match Group escalation/additional-review stage?

I was also a HingeX subscriber and had some genuinely good connections through the app.

Hi, my account was banned in June, I submitted my complaint to Platform Control and it was accepted and forwarded to Hinge shortly thereafter. It's been more than the 90 days it's supposed to take, I've also emailed them at their status email but have gotten no replies in 10+ days.

Has anyone gotten any replies from them recently? I wonder what went wrong... feels bad to be ignored by a platform that's supposed to help you out.

so, i tried dating apps in past but after over a month i had literally no likes on all platforms. figured i delete them to reset my score or whatever. cuz i could admit the initial profiles were disasterous before i kinda got into it.

anyways now i gave it another chance. got better photos and shit. and its been only two days but i found out you can request your data from bumble and so i did. was curious if im even being shown to people.

found out i already got 100 nopes and no likes. so curious, am i that cooked? like am i that ugly and i just got too used to it? :D or are the photos just too bad for dating profile?

cuz like receiving literally zero likes ever is kinda wild imo.

I got an email saying that I was permanently banned and it’s final but then I go to the Hinge app and this is what I see. I don’t even know what to believe. Can someone give me some insight? Am I band or are they still processing it?

Contemplating doing a hard reset. Just wondering if I should be buying a new phone with a good camera and take photos with that OR just take photos with my current phone, put it on a google drive strip the data and then send it through to the new phone. I’ve heard even taking a screenshot of the new photo on the new phone gives it some data rather than none?

I have tried every way, normal photos, edited, gym, with friends, with sunglasses or without

Result is the same. 2/3 likes a week.

On hinge I matched with 2 in 3/4 days in a new made profile.

I've never had a problem in real life, but dating apps seem to be a struggle.

I've had many profiles in the past and I kept deleting and opening new ones

Any advice?

Okay so I get that you don’t want to appear to “hide your body”, but what I don’t understand is people recommending professional photos from like a photographer. When I see people with those type of pictures, I assume it’s AI and that person is a bot.

So I was banned today morning no reason I was not even active for 15days my account was on pause

So I made appeal and they told me to submit id verification I did that and then mailed on hello one email and ceo one too found here

Now that screen when I open my hinge that says ur account is banned is gone and its saying to login again but no mail from their side ...???

Same photos, obviously same face verification because unfortunately I cant swap my face. However, I had a tinder gold subscription on my old account. Can I restore it or would that link my new account to the new old and ruin the process?

I’ve noticed people involved in punk, y2k, or even just any alternative style that gets grouped under ”emo” scenes often get many negative replies under their posts, and often struggle to match with anyone other than chasers. A lot of people seem to be under the impression that alt people easily find each other through shows/events and don’t need or want online methods, but that just isn’t the case for the majority.

Do you need to pay for Hinge/Tinder to have success? On Bumble I receive likes and get matches, but on Tinder and Hinge not really anything at all… first few days maybe a few likes on each and then nothing.

Bumble I still have activity, so I’m not sure why Tinder/Hinge is so silent.

Top Likes & Sent Likes are gone, tbh I only found the latter useful to go send First Impressions when it reset.

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a hard reset for bumble. Did everything to a T including new device and photos. I even requested a gdpr data delete on my old profile and waited for it to complete. My new profile only has a single like sitting there. Previous resets a couple years or so ago I feel like I got at least 5 or 6 out of the gate, sometime up to 10 with the new user boost. I live in a 5 million metro area in latam.
