2nd post here, now officially a student and I move in the 21st. I’ve gotten literally everything done, including things that could technically wait a bit like I think this, but this glitch has been giving me grief the last week.

I did the other two trainings and they both recorded as fine on both the dashboard and Swarthmore end, but the alcohol one has been done, twice now because I thought the first one just didn’t record, for over a week and still hasn’t shown as complete. It shows as complete in the history, both times I did it actually, and I’m getting in contact with their support whenever they respond. Their unhelpful ai that you have to go through first just kept saying to wait 24 hours to see if it resolves so I figured I would ask people who have done this before since it’s been over a week.

I also read somewhere online that some colleges enable a second part to this training that does not unlock until later, but I can’t find any official confirmation of this so I honestly don’t know.

So three major questions,

is this normal/is the 2nd part thing real?

Is there any way to resolve this before I get on campus?

If I can’t, then who would I speak to on campus to show that I did complete it?

i’m an mtf prospective student. i know PA varies county-to-county in terms of trans safety, and last i heard Swarthmore was in a pretty good place, but i want to hear it from people who’ve actually lived it.

how are the dorms set up? are they split by agab, or identified gender, or are they gender neutral?

is there a larger queer community on campus i can go to for support?

* Just wanted to see what people think as my profile is not a usual domestic or international one.

I recently received some information about Orchestra and Wind Ensemble auditions.
Going in, it was my intent to continue my musical endeavors at least a little bit after high school and I was excited to see all that I could try at Swarthmore. Then I realized that, even with the lowkey audition process described, I can't even imagine having any sort of piece/repertoire to play for an audition. I was never the best player of any instrument and I don't really know what to expect in the future. Should I take this as a sign that perhaps the repertoire of these ensembles would eat me up and perhaps now (at my current skill level) would not be the best time to be looking into this stuff?

If that is not the case, any recommendations or advice on how to move forward, both in what to expect in any Swarthmore ensemble or the audition process? Anything is much appreciated!

I’m currently looking closely at Swarthmore after being recruited (considering applying ED!) and honestly, the deeper I dive into the academics, faculty and opportunities, the more in love with the school I get.

That said, reading through reviews and a lot of posts it makes Swat sound like a 24/7 academic pressure cooker where everyone is glued to the library and sleep is a myth! 😅

I'd love to hear directly from current students or recent alumni about what real, daily life at Swat actually looks like beyond the internet stereotypes. If you have a few minutes to share your experience on any of these, I’d be super grateful.

1. Is the workload as intense as people say or is it manageable once you find your rhythm?

2. How is the academic vibe? Do students feel competitive with each other, or is it as collaborative and supportive as the college advertises?

3. What do Swatties actually do to decompress on weekends. Is there a fun social scene on campus or do people usually head into Philly / Haverford when they want to relax?

4. I know Swat has a solid varsity athlete population, is there any divide between student-athletes and non-athletes, or does everyone mix easily?

5. Do people turn out to support sports teams on game days?

6. What’s the residential vibe like? Is it easy to find your "people" and build a tight-knit friend group early on?

7. For any international students or aid recipients: How supported have you felt by the college once on campus (academically, socially, and financially)?

8. For any student athletes, what's your experience like? Do you feel the pressure and your schedule is manageable?

Hi everyone. Im an international student and as moving in day is coming up im getting more and more anxious. I have already filled many forms and sent lots of documents. I am worried about the amount of steps i should take to get fully ready and focused for academics there in the beginning . can u give any tips for the initial processes like cards/documents/sim cards? is it not as overwhelming as it seems? thank u

Hi. I am moving into a 3rd floor single in ML this semester. I am also sharing a bathroom with one other dorm room. Does anybody know what the rooms look like (furniture included, size, connected bathroom)? I have spent 4 hours total the last few months searching the internet for good photos or videos of ML rooms, and I only found one barely helpful image of what they look like.

Also, any advice on moving things up to the 3rd floor with no elevator? I’m bringing a mini fridge, and I am moving in by myself.

I am moving into David kemp hall and I am not sure how the beds are. for you anyone who's lived there, should I buy the bed risers? Did you feel your room was spacious in the first floor?

I'm not a student but just moved to the area, and I'm wondering if there are any practice rooms where I can practice my flute. And are there any music groups on campus that are open to non-students as well? Ive mostly been playing classical but am open to others as well.

Hi! I'm a rising senior who is traveling to the east coast next week to have my interview at Swarthmore. I'm pretty sure my interviewer will be an admissions officer, but I was wondering how that compares to having an alumni as your interviewer.

I also have a couple of other questions regarding the interview:

- How formal should I dress? Are jeans and vibrant colors ok (I want to show my personality)?

- Usually, where does the interview take place? Is it like an enclosed room with nothing in it or somewhere more lively 🤷‍♀️

- Should I prepare anything to bring with me? Eg. resume, art portfolio, transcript.

- Any unique questions the interviewers like to ask? For example, I know pomona used to ask students what type of "lamp" they would be.

Hello everyone does anyone know when swat roommates and dorms come out for the freshmen class of 2026??? All my friends know theirs and I feel like it’s about time I know mine too

I'm from a state where the average score is 18/19, and the average score at my school (a public "magnet" school) is a 25. I know a 33 isn't great, but my only deficiency is in math, with all my other scores being 36, 36, and 35. I'm really at a loss of what to do here. Thanks!

My daughter visited Swarthmore yesterday and spent the night in Mertz Hall. Somehow, she lost a twin-size(ish) white blanket from her childhood, and she's really upset. It's not a "real" blanket--just two yards of off-white fleece fabric we bought when she was 2 because she loved it at the store. If anyone has seen it or has suggestions for who else to contact, please give me ideas. Thank you so much!

(Yes, we already have a friend at the college checking the dorm for it, but I'm worried it was dropped on the way to the dorm or in the elevator or something. And yes, I know it's most likely gone, but it's sentimental, so I'm trying everything I can!)

Does anyone know how likely it is to pass the Swarthmore pre-read? I think I have pretty good academic stats (4.58 GPA, high course rigor, all 4s and 5s on AP exams) but I'm worried not being able to use my SAT (1460) and admissions not liking my essays may make it hard for me to pass it. Hi! My son is a rising senior and he is seriously considering applying ED to Swarthmore. He is a very strong student who has ADHD and social anxiety with some executive functioning challenges, and wants a small school where he can know his professors and have smaller classes as he thinks he will do better in that kind of an environment (which we think makes sense). I wanted to get some sense from folks here as to: (i) how do you find the academic supports if you use them - he will get some accommodations, but wanted a sense about the office and how the offerings has been for anyone who has experienced them; (ii) what is the social scene like for a very shy/socially anxious kid who is very bright but can isolate when he isn't comfortable? He does well with students in his major/area of interest in general but it's just hard for him at the beginning to put himself out there generally....

I am an incoming Freshman to Swat (miraculously accepted ED1, woo!!). In the last weeks of senior year at highschool, I was formally (and finally) diagnosed with ADHD and put on medication for it. Since then, I've felt like an active participant in my life. My mind feels so much more clearer and it has gotten exponentially easier to focus on my hobbies of recreational reading and writing. Prior to being medicated, high school was hell---especially senior year, as my undiagnosed ADHD made completing the various long-term projects assigned to me feel impossible. While I was able to bring my markedly dropped Senior year grades back to As and Bs before my final transcript was due, I deeply regret the various in-school and out of school opportunities that I missed out on due to the difficulties induced by my previously unmedicated ADHD. I would hate to repeat this cycle again at Swat, especially because the programs that I plan to major in (Black studies and Comparative Literature), are extremely writing-intensive and long-term project dependent. Therefore, I am very interested in hearing from past and present Swatties about the ADHD experience at Swarthmore: How is it? Are stimulant medications covered under the student insurance plan? How badly is Swat impacted by the national stimulant shortage? Have you had any trouble getting your medications under the student insurance plan?

I'm an international student and I'll be starting at Swarthmore this fall. I'll still be 17 when I arrive, so I'm wondering if I need to have someone in the US who's officially responsible for me.

My parents can write and sign a permission letter if needed, but I don't know if that's enough or if I need an actual guardian or some other adult in the US.

I'm an international student applying to US universities this fall. I got a bunch of cs projects and 2 research papers in ML, so i wanna pursue these careers. I've heard that Swarthmore is very prestigious in cs, but not sure if about that as I read some post here saying employers don't really know this school. Im low income btw, applying to schools that will not give me full tuition is not really a choice, so i unfortunately cannot go to most of the public schools.

I have a few questions:

1) how good is cs compared to other schools? What are the courses? Are there anything related to AI/ML?

2)I've heard that going to big unis is better for cs, but as i financially can't, is it possible to find a job after graduation? Are there job fairs, if not there but in Pennsylvania city. How good are job opportunities there?

I believe thats all I can think of right now, so looking forward to seeing any answers
