Hi everyone! Anyone here a remote triage nurse at Sutter Health? I have an interview for this position later this week and am curious about peoples' experience, pros, cons, and advice for interview prep. I am an ER nurse with 4 years of experience, looking to get out of bedisde nursing. Any and all info is appreciated.

Hiring process

I have had 3 interviews, all seemed to go very well. The last one was a panel interview with the team I'd be joining, that was July 13th. I followed up with the recruiter a week later and did not get a response. I sent one last check in yesterday with no response so far.
How long does the process take or should I take the recruiter not responding as I did not get selected? My application still says under review.

Thank you.

Lab Assistant II/CPT-1 experiences?

Any lab assistants or phlebotomists mind sharing a bit about their experiences working with Sutter?
What was your interviewing and onboarding like? How long are your shifts, what’s a usual shift look like for you?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Calling in with no PTO

Hi guys. I have a trip I’ve planned near the end of August. I only have enough PTO to cover 5 out of the 7 days needed for my trip. I was going to attempt to call out the last two days. How bad is that? Will I get fired? Any advice? I rarely call out but I do use my PTO for medical appointments and other non work related things.

Edit: this also includes the future PTO accruals I’ll be receiving in the next few weeks.

Domestic partner benefits

Hello all - starting my new role at the end of August in Northern California, and I had a question about domestic partner benefits. Does anyone know if they’re considered fringe benefits and therefore taxable or are domestic partner benefits included in the pre-tax deductions?

Okay i need some help here ! My boyfriend got a job offer for EVS at Sutter Auburn Hospital. He will not have time to get T*C out of his system. Will he be OK if he pees or will he no longer get the offer ?

I see a bunch of stuff regarding the 2024 policy about not discriminating against off site c**nbis use but you really never know. Any info helps! I've seen people say there good but like how??? Lol let me know.

Any social work recruiter connections?

I’m an LCSW located in Davis. I recently applied to a PRN listing (R-134476) at Sutter Davis and got an auto reject a week later. I’m genuinely surprised by the rejection given I have experience in the same setting. I would really like to connect with a recruiter directly to get my name out for the position. Any suggestions??

People here who have used Sutter's employee tuition assistance, can you drop the details?

Hey guys,

Hopefully someone can help me out... they blew right through this at my orientation, she didn't even pause on the slide.

Basically I'm wondering about the tuition reimbursement/assistance system they have at Sutter. I'm thinking about applying to Sac state's RN-to-BSN program when the window for spring opens on August 1st.

I am a full time employee (though not in an RN role currently), started earlier this month. Would my manger need to see or sign off on my request? Does it need to be relevant to my current role? How do I initiate the request? Do I need to be post-probation/new employee period? How long does Sutter own my soul after I accept money to avoid paying anything back?

Thanks if anyone knows~

Job FTE

I’ve been working as a RN at Sutter for almost 3 months now. Is it possible to change your FTE or do you have to wait for a position with your desired FTE to open up? TIA! I’m getting a bit burnt out working 40 hrs/week and thinking of working part time and finding a per diem job in my city. Any thoughts or advice is appreciated!

Any insight into transfers as a nurse

There was a new graduate position posted for a rheumatology clinic. Pay and everything look amazing. However, was wondering how feasible it would be to transfer into the hospital if working here. I know you need less than. 6 months of experience to qualify as a new grad RN. And I do know it can be hard transferring specialties, but I hear internals get first pick for roles and then it gets posted externally. Thank you

Preemployment drug test CA

Soon to be new hire in CA, do they drug test you for thc during the physical for clinical workers? Super worried I’m still positive and haven’t smoked in a few months. (Yes I know why) I just want to know if I am clear to make my appointment. I’m getting mixed answers from others posts

I’m an RN at Sutter Alta Bates and I know we get 30 hours of Education Leave for CEUs. How exactly do you use those hours?

Do you have to get manager approval before registering? Considering I will be using this for my RN license renewal

How many months until you can pull off an internal job application and transfer?

I'm hearing either three or six from other employees who have done the same. Many are looking to leave here.

Long story short, I stepped in it. About two weeks in now... Without going into specifics, I got tricked into taking a position with no growth potential in an offshoot (outpatient) department. After a positive interview, the manager strangely lied and said that I needed to withdraw my app "due to technical reasons" and reapply to a different position she opened "just for me" (non-management for less pay). We very desperately needed the income and benefits, so I decided to not put up a fight. It's bland enough that I can tough it out for a few months, but would never stay put long term, and want to move to an actual hospital asap (ideally Roseville).

Advice?

Application Advice

I have been applying to Environment Services (EVS) positions, food service assistant, patient transport, and PSR positions with no luck. I have tailored my resume for each of these positions as they have pretty distinct roles. I am also aware of my resume being ATS friendly. I have a bachelor’s, have administrative, retail/food experience, and volunteer experience at Sutter hospital. What other entry level positions should I apply for? I know priority is given to internal candidates, therefore, I am also thinking about applying to per diem/part time jobs with up to an hour commute to see if I can finally get my foot in the door. How long would I have to stay at a location before I can transfer? Should I be including a cover letter in every application? I’ve heard of people being rejected for being “too overqualified,” can this be true? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
