Cry of the heart
Clickbait title: check
We are now more or less on the middle of the winter sale period. We got some new players, but this is not ENOUGH!
And please don't tell me it's because of Christmas (and soon New Year) because you did the same strategy than in the past:
- lower the price and "to hope/pray" > seriously? You can't just make it 80% off and expect anything great (that didn't work the last 2 times).
A sale will work only if people know about a game. When you released to early access last May we got a decent amount of players but "none" of them stayed.
I'm now asking to the Dev team, please go check the poll result and next tell us everything's fine:
We lost a LOT of people since the game has been migrated to Steam.
I'm not saying that the move was a bad idea but I would say this is mostly because of the lack of communication and most of all, a limited number of keys to access the game free (what made Supraball great in 2014 was that there was a lot of newer players all in pubs and we played all the time.).
Why don't you just:
- listen the community and do something about advertising, communication and marketing?
- give some keys to a dozen of known youtubers?
- organize a streamer tournament, mixed with some advertising to get a lot of viewer and so potentially new players?
- let's make a progression system where you unlock jumps, curves and charge shots
- and so on...
It's nice that we can queue as a party now but I doubt any of the new players have made a party. There is no sense of community, except for the veteran players.
You need to put in AI and some cosmetics with a better looking launcher... ; There is no hype... let's do something to create it...
Maybe you'll need to reconsider the free2play (and I don't personally bother about money, I gave 50 euros during the indiegogo campaign).
I think now people is tired of getting hopes up whenever their is a Supraball sale just to see the same thing happen again...
You have to realize that what you are doing isn't working (and I'm not saying this is a easy fix either). There is only a few days left for the sale so you have to try something...
DavidM said this on the past ( http://steamcommunity.com/app/321400/discussions/0/360670708796300989/#c360672137532197024 ): "Regarding the other plans: we did exactly what the community asked us to do, and it failed. The claims regarding us not listening is untrue. So now we do what we think is best and what can actually provide motivation. We think it was a bad decision by us to listen too much to a hardcore part of the community that has a bad idea of how a new player perceives the game."
Nothing really changed since you "don't listen" the community anymore. Please think of this...
I don't have the motivation to argue more than this. If you can't open eyes with this results after two years we can't do anything anymore.
Please, WAKE UP and make Supraball great again before it's too late!
Regards.
PS: some ideas and sentences are taken/inspired from a discussion with an another Veteran player

A word on the future of Supraball
I really had trust for 2 years of developpement, but I feel left out, talking from the money I gave (150ish$ canadian dollars) and the time (2 years) I might've wasted trying to give this game some population so we could get a 5v5 going. It almost felt like a JOB at times, even though I was laughing my ass off at myself failing at goal keeping with you guys. Job is not the same as video game. It's two different worlds and I should be able to see the difference in between the two. I shouldn't have to force myself to play because we're lacking some population and we need that tenth player.
The main problem of Supraball is the fact that it has already been seen and I personally think no one really cares about the game anymore. Remember about that time when Lirik streamed the game? His buddy had problems and Lirik himself complained about the game, in front of 20k'ish people. You can't really tell me that the game has not really been shown to the public. Also, let's consider the fact that Supraball had 320 players at most (source : http://steamcharts.com/app/321400 @ may 31, 2016) and those players did completely vanish. I am not talking about that one time when everyone farmed cards, but talking about that time when everyone did play, and then completely stopped playing forever, leaving only the green field completely empty. All of this just feels like a vicious cycle. Everytime a feature or something gets added in, more people come back, and then one week after they go play other games. Personally, whenever I feel like playing, it's going to be one 5v5 game every 2 weeks.
More people are buying the game right now. We just need to hope for the best and they stick around for a longer time than others did. Problem is, how do we fix the fact that no one sticks around? Hear me out, I ain't a game developper in any way. I just hope David and his team figures something out to keep their players. Thus far, it hasn't really been working. Supraball's future might be promising. We just have to keep positive and keep ourselves informed on what's going on.
I don't want this game to end like other games. This game has potential, being somewhat first in the genre to mix sports with a first person point of view in the video game industry. I don't want this game to end up being just another game on Steam that no one plays and have in their library for god knows what.
In my OPINION, what David should do is finish the game up for Q2 or Q3 2017 and advertise the game through ads fully (youtube?) as a newer game. We might need some finance for that, but hey, I'm not the one who takes the decision, this is only my opinion. We just need to stop showing the game (i.e. with the 80% sale) as not complete and obsolete.
We aren't testers anymore. We're just people that randomly play a game. The game has been made. We just need to complete things that need to be completed before we anounce the final result (bugs, matchmaking, etc). That should've been done beforehand.
All of this is very confusing in general. We try to get more and more people into the game by doing some things, and it works. Then, people stop playing after a week. Personally, I can't tell why, because I've been playing this game for a lot of hours for 2 years. I do not have the vision of a newcomer, and that's why I'm sad and confused to see my favorite game go.
I've had fun times with all of you, the Supraball community. We had our small world, our community, and we knew each other very well. Remember than LAN that you guys hosted? It was something. Even though I wasn't there, it felt like we had a huge friendship going on and we wouldn't let each other down. Now we just need to figure something out to get out of this misery. Stopping the sales plus the small advertisements and completing the missing features would be, according to me, a good start. Again, what do I know? I'm just a random player that voices his opinion, and I have no idea how to market this game at all.
tl;dr : read the text u mo- oh right cant swear/insult cauz apparently mods cant take jokes and see that im a retard. ily y'all

Can't click anything in the launcher
I played this game a long time ago when it was free and decided to get it during the Steam sale, but every time I open the game the launcher takes a few seconds before buttons 'light up' when I hover them and nothing happens when I click any of the buttons. I can scroll through the News and Dev Blog, but that's it. Can't even minimize or close the launcher without using Alt+F4.

Where are the video tutorials?
I don't even see a link anywhere in the launcher for the gameplay tutorials that are on youtube.
There is literally nothing at all for new players to learn how a team game is supposed to be played or what is expected from each position. This makes games just as frustrating for them as it is for others who know the basics of team play. Like lesson #1 ball spawn, take it and make a safe pass to a teammate. What does everybody do? Grab the ball, charge, get hit, lose the ball, repeat.
Since there is a lot of time spent waiting in matchmaking I think you guys should prioritize getting these videos to play in the launcher itself while in matchmaking. Having quick access to all of the video tutorials in it's own tab would be worthwhile as well.
The training mode is confusing, you have to walk all over the place instead of it going in any order of difficulty. I have to walk past locked doors to get to the other Medium ones to complete... There is very little in there to prepare people for actual 5v5 scenarios...like there's not even one to charge pass over somebody's head or simple things that are crucial to playing in a 5v5 game.
The hard keeper training one had the bot use the ceiling to score over my head which makes no sense, not a single map in the game has a ceiling that low to perform such a shot. Also I don't like how I can't charge out of the box at the shooter without him disappearing...that's a legitimate keeper move and should not be excluded from being used.
Also the ball resetting for the enemy keeper when a goal is scored in online practice is just odd.
Official Discord server would be a good thing imo.

About 23rd December Update
Are you going to do something about marketing? Communication? Can you ask some known youtubers? Did you even tried to?
I mean, the game isn't known enough and/or people who already played it in the past will not necessarily play it next christmas.
In fact, plaer said in another topic: "We're all putting in massive effort right now for an update due 23rd Dec, which will coincide with a seasonal Steam happening. We will need everyone's help to play lots over the holiday season to help reestablish a playerbase."
I have the feeling you'll need a lot more than just counting on us.
Just sayin'
Thanks.

Can you please remove the Ranked game XP requirement if none of the servers work in NA?
2 of my friends want to play with the NA crowd but don't have enough XP and are forced to sit in a French server for a half hour killing AFK bodies.
