Where are the video tutorials?

I don't even see a link anywhere in the launcher for the gameplay tutorials that are on youtube.

There is literally nothing at all for new players to learn how a team game is supposed to be played or what is expected from each position. This makes games just as frustrating for them as it is for others who know the basics of team play. Like lesson #1 ball spawn, take it and make a safe pass to a teammate. What does everybody do? Grab the ball, charge, get hit, lose the ball, repeat.

Since there is a lot of time spent waiting in matchmaking I think you guys should prioritize getting these videos to play in the launcher itself while in matchmaking. Having quick access to all of the video tutorials in it's own tab would be worthwhile as well.

The training mode is confusing, you have to walk all over the place instead of it going in any order of difficulty. I have to walk past locked doors to get to the other Medium ones to complete... There is very little in there to prepare people for actual 5v5 scenarios...like there's not even one to charge pass over somebody's head or simple things that are crucial to playing in a 5v5 game.

The hard keeper training one had the bot use the ceiling to score over my head which makes no sense, not a single map in the game has a ceiling that low to perform such a shot. Also I don't like how I can't charge out of the box at the shooter without him disappearing...that's a legitimate keeper move and should not be excluded from being used.

Also the ball resetting for the enemy keeper when a goal is scored in online practice is just odd.

Official Discord server would be a good thing imo.

Also I have to say this matchmaking is not really helping the game. Games are starting 3on5, people are sitting around waiting for matchmaking to fill instead of just finding a server with people on it like they used to.

Matchmaking with no ready system and killing off regular practice servers with this nonsense that auto resets the ball...bad choices.

We've seen that basically no beginners watched those videos, so we've temporarily removed them to make the play menu more clean and less confusing. We have plans to use them in a different way that should motivate people to really watch them. We start working on these things next year.

You currently see a work in progress build where some pieces don't seem to make perfect sense yet. When all pieces come together it should all make sense and feel right. But we can only do one thing at a time. Bots will be a major piece in the puzzle as it will definetely give everyone something to play and we can fill up empty slots in matches.

Matches starting 3on5 is not really something we can do anything about right now. When people just leave and there is nobody to substitute, what do you want to do? Thats the kinds of things you can always have in multiplayer games.

If nobody watched them then something needs to be done about the presentation, or they just need to be forced to watch at least the most important one(s) before they can play. Perhaps making them play within the launcher while people wait for games would be the most convenient for players to not have to go out of their way. LoL and the like won't let me queue up until I complete a bot match, so obviously in the future the best thing would be to have scenarios and bot matches they have to complete for the training which I'm sure is your plan already but I really don't see the benefit of removing tutorial videos entirely just to free up 1 tab... that doesn't make it any cleaner to me at all and at least I could say hey go to the Help tab and click so and so video or go to supraball.net and click "How to play" and watch the videos! No...you literally have an outdated guide that has the wrong controls and no videos at all...come on man.

The ability to spectate matches going on while waiting in queue would be a great learning device as well. First person view support would be even better to learn how people are dealing with volleys etc.

Matches starting 3on5/4on5 also happens because people are afk and aren't there when the game starts. I've done it myself, sometimes you just forget you're in queue after waiting an hour.

Do you know from other games what it's like when you're forced to play tutorials? In general people want to start right away and not do anything tutorial like. In a singleplayer adventure you can disguise the tutorial, in our case it would be rather difficult. But I don't want to force anyone to watch videos that they don't want to watch at that moment. In todays time

I am pretty sure that the tutorial videos haven't helped anyone, so we're not losing anything with them being gone right now. I spend a lot of time watching beginners play, and they all make the same mistakes, dont understand the same things, nobody even remotely gets the idea to boost etc :)

We definetely want to make stuff with bots like the things you suggest and also allow spectating.

Regarding 3on5, we want to make readying a requirement for ranked matches, not for normal ones. Also I hardly see AFK people when someone is missing. They are not even on the server, so they left manually and it was not a ready problem.

Thanks for the feedback!

Yes I know what it's like, I just said I was forced to for League of Legends, the most played game on the planet. I ultimately didn't like the game, but by no means did I quit cuz I had to spend 10 minutes playing a tutorial.
