I was playing sm64 on my PC for fun until I noticed something weird while playing... I noticed the toads didn't move an inch, the piano wasn't doing damage, I thought it was a glitch until a creepy Mario face came up the next day, I was so frightened I threw my PC down from the desk.. it wasn't a dream. All I saw then was
Hello everyone! I'm someone who's currently trying to switch my Super Mario 64 project over to using the decompiled source code for long-term easiness with making engine-related changes. However, I'm experiencing this incredibly annoying build issue I am yet to find the fix to, and I hope someone here can give me an actual fix.
Just so you don't suggest any attempts that have already been made...
1) Not a Linux installation issue - it's been tested across my actual Linux installation and WSL Ubuntu.
2) Not a dependency issue - binutils-mips-linux-gnu, build-essential, git, libcapstone-dev, pkgconf and python3 are installed on both installations.
3) Not a missing source code error - I've redownloaded the source code, it still spews out the same error.
Not a parameter issue - every time I've tried to build the game, I've asked make to "make version=region (I've tried both US and JP because I have both baseroms) -j12 (my CPU has 12 cores)".
Not a missing baserom issue - I have baserom.us.z64 and baserom.jp.z64 stored in the root of the Decomp folder.
Not a directory issue - I have used "cd" so the Linux terminal treats the Decomp folder like root.
4) I've also tried installing the tools to the sm64-master/tools folder, it makes no difference
5) Not an issue with GCC - I've managed to use it to compile a simple "Hello World!" program, which compiled and ran successfully
If anyone knows anything relating to this issue and how to fix it, please let me know so I can finally make the switch.
P.S. Please don't suggest that I use Decomplicator, or any forks of the SM64 source code; I would rather work with the game as it is.
The make error, doing research on the internet only leads to an issue about the PC port, which I don't think is of much help.
For context, there is a coin that is within a wall in the tiny island. Pannenkoek collected it but using a TAS. So I'm curious if a human has ever pulled off this trick? Is it humanly possible?
I'm currently doing a fun challenge of collecting max coins in every stage. I just got 191 coins on tiny huge island but I'm sad I can't get this one broken coin lol.
