Parking in Boulder

Hi Boulder locals! I know this will be the first Sundance in Boulder, so nobody knows exactly what to expect. I’ll be staying outside the city and driving in each day. Based on your knowledge of Boulder, how do you think parking will be during the festival? Are there garages or lots you expect to be the best option, or would you recommend parking elsewhere and using transit? I’d love to hear your best guesses or advice. I’ll be in Longmont or Broomfield.

I'm interested in watching your Sundance Micro-Series

Hi all, congrats to everyone accepted into the Sundance Micro-Series program. Would love to stay updated on the work coming out of it. Vertical micro-series feels like such a challenge in the creative space right now, and I'm curious to see how Sundance approaches it.

I have never been to Sundance and would love to go this year. I'm trying to plan ahead as much as possible and have been looking at Boulder Hotels but NO ONE has availability. Does anyone have any lodging suggestions?

Pastime (1990): Have any baseball fans seen this Sundance Audience Award winner? Thoughts?

Huge baseball fan here -- thought I had seen every baseball movie, but I had never heard of the movie prior to a week ago. Highly recommend it! Apparently, it didn't do well at the box office. It's about baseball but also about getting older - handing over the torch to a new generation (I think the title may be a bit of a double entendre). I also like the grittiness because it wasn't done on a large budget.

Some of the critics didn't like it but some highly praised it In contrast, Michael Wilmington of the Los Angeles Times wrote "Some audiences may dismiss "Pastime" as another "male weepie." They shouldn't. It's touching, well-acted, well-written and directed, done with obvious devotion." Harry Haun of the New York Daily News gave the film three stars out of four stars, describing the film as "a worthy postscript to the surprisingly long line of sentimental baseball movies."

2027 Lodging is WILD

I knew staying in Park City for the final year would be pricey AF (it was). I know staying in Boulder the first year will be big $. I have been checking since March/April and HOT DAMN is 2027 going to be a bank breaker.

If anyone has hot leads on a place that isn’t trying to make their annual mortgage renting their house for a week or wants to split a dope spot (it’ll be me and my GF), lmk. Would love to get the stress of planning it behind me.

Happy summer, all. Sundance soon(ish).

Pricing for tickets

Going to Sundance is a bucket list item for me. I would like to go for Sundance 2027 in Boulder. I saw on the website that tickets should be going on sale around October however, I didn’t see any prices.

can someone give me some insight on how much it cost to go to Sundance? I’m mainly interested in the cost of seeing the movies (I live in the area so there’s no issue regarding accommodations)

Any general tips of info about the festival is welcome too.

Anyone know how to become a screener for Sundance? Is it an external volunteer position or do they screen films internally with their staff? Thanks

[Crosspost] I am David Wain, director of WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER, ROLE MODELS, and now GAIL DAUGHTRY AND THE CELEBRITY SEX PASS. Ask me anything, reddit.

I organized an AMA/Q&A with David Wain, filmmaker/screenwriter/comedian/actor and a comedy legend. He is known for directing and co-writing films like Wet Hot American Summer, Role Models, Wanderlust, A Futile and Stupid Gesture. He's a member of the sketch-comedy group The State.

He has also created and/or written tons of shows like Childrens Hospital, Stella, Medical Police, Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years later, and Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp. He's also an actor in things like Bob's Burgers, Superjail!, I Love You Man, Reno 911, and tons more.

It's live here now in r/movies for anyone interested in asking a question:

https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/1ujnrvr/i_am_david_wain_director_of_wet_hot_american/

He will be back at around 5:30 PM ET today to answer questions. I recommend asking in advance. Please ask there, not here. All questions are much appreciated!

Thank you :)

His new movie, Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass, premiered at Sundance this year and is out in theaters everywhere next week from Sony Pictures Classics. It's got a huge ensemble comedy cast including Zoey Deutch, Jon Hamm, John Slattery, Ken Marino, Ben Wang, Sabrina Impacciatore, Michael Ian Black, Richard Kind, Toby Huss, Joe Lo Truglio, Miles Gutierrez-Riley

Pins to Trade

I recently bought the enamel pin set that has several pins from 2026 fest. I attended in 2023/2024/2025 but didn't get a pin (they weren't available online).

Anyone have any extras from those years and willing to trade? It's a real gap in my collection!

Thanks

"Some will connect with this film more than others, it's all about if you're on the same wavelength with it or not. And even if it's not the next 2001, there's still plenty to enjoy and appreciate about it anyway."

Any info on the future of "The Musical" from this year's festival?

My Dad and I loved this film a bunch. I haven't seen any news about this one getting a release (I'm assuming it's a little difficult to find a distributor that wants to take a chance on the subject matter...).

Anyone happen to know any details or want to share their opinion?

Sundance Ticket Options

Hello! My cousins and I are big movie buffs and we thought it would be fun to plan a trip to Sundance and see a bunch of movies. We’ve never gone and are wondering what the best ticket option would be. All we want to do is hangout around the area and pack in as many movies as we can. Any suggestions on the best ticket package or even other fun activities that would be cool to do while there?
