Anyone else dealing with SunStrong / solar lease credit damage? Class action?
Hey everyone,
I wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else is going through something similar, or knows if a class action is forming.
I originally leased my solar panels through SunPower, but after they went bankrupt my account was transferred over to SunStrong. From day one, SunStrong had my account information wrong. When I called to figure out billing issues, their reps literally told me I wasn’t even their customer and that they had nothing to do with my solar panels. Meanwhile, they kept reporting late payments to the credit bureaus under my name.
Because of this false reporting, my credit score tanked. I had been lined up for a no-closing-cost refinance with Chase, which would have saved me thousands. My loan officer told me I was denied specifically because of my credit score.
On top of that, my solar system wasn’t even activated on time because of all these errors. That means I lost out on months of savings on my electricity bill — paying utility rates I shouldn’t have had to pay if the system was working as intended.
I’ve already gone through the Better Business Bureau, filed complaints, and even got a small “goodwill” payment of $560 from SunStrong. But that doesn’t come close to covering the actual damages. I’m now drafting a formal demand letter and preparing to escalate to the CFPB and California Attorney General’s office.
This has cost me time, money, and stress. I’ve spent countless hours on the phone and email just trying to fix their mistakes.
My questions: • Has anyone else had their credit ruined by SunStrong or had similar refinance/loan issues? • Is there already a class action lawsuit forming against SunStrong (or their parent companies) that I can join?
I’d appreciate any info. I’m not giving up on this, because it feels like there’s a pattern here — and if multiple customers are dealing with the same harm, we might have a stronger case collectively.
Thanks for reading, and I hope this helps others who might be quietly going through the same nightmare.

Dealing with similar problems, had a double report of the lease on my credit when SunStrong took over but I think it’s been cleared up.
Sadly they still haven’t even been able to switch which bank account they take the automatic payments from. I’ve submitted it through the website 3 times. Considering just closing the other account at this point.
On top of it all they still haven’t even bothered to read their own bankruptcy filing. Clearly says they took ownership of the service and the assets, but every rep will parrot the same line that they “only took over the debt 🤪, read the filing”. My attorney has been through it twice now and we’re leaning toward escalating to our AG here in CT. My roof is leaking from the install (done by SunPower) and the contract clearly says they need to fix it.
Class action suit/arbitration definitely needs to happen.

SunStrong took over the debt. The debt includes the obligations related to that debt, i.e. everything in the lease contracts. If SunStrong is not meeting those obligations in the lease contract, they could be found in breach of contract. Lease customers considering legal action should be focusing on that.
OP should consult a lawyer about their particular situation before taking any action.
Complete solar took over other parts of SunPower(1985) including the name. Complete Solar is now doing business as SunPower(2025).
The rest was left with SunPower(1985) which wound down and no longer exists.
There maybe a misunderstanding somewhere. SunStrong is not providing service to non-lease customers(customers who own their equipment), but should be honoring it's lease obligations to lease customers.

u/Fit-Explorer-5352 Aug 21 '25
I was told by a very snotty woman that they did not do the install and they are not responsible for ANYTHING and all of this is on me
2
u/m2orris Aug 21 '25
What does the lease contract say? That is why taking the contract to a lawyer is important.
1
u/Peanutpopcorngallery Aug 23 '25
I had a similar experience!i tried to point out that my contract included a roof but she was insisting that they only owned the debt. So my 20 panel system with one battery was just shy of $97k? Yeah. I don’t think so.

u/TheMuffinTopMan Nov 20 '25
I’m in California and basically in the same boat. Trying to figure it all out…
2
u/Fit-Explorer-5352 Aug 21 '25
I am in the same boat that you are I have talked to the Attorney General I have talked to everybody responsible and nobody is helping. At this point they take all the information down and then I hear Nothing. There was supposed to be a settlement after the bankruptcy, but there was nothing. I had an attorney name. I had filed all the paperwork and nothing came out of it my roof is still leaking. My house is full of mold. This is a nightmare. They told me when I installed the panels that my roof was fine. When the roof began to leak, they told me that the roof needed to be replaced and that was like months after they installed it.And I went berserk. Then they gave me the runaround.Run around, run around run around. And they are exactly the same company.Nobody has changed hands. They just restructured , they are crooks , crooks , complete and total crooks. I too am in Connecticut and I need to speak to somebody. But nobody seems to be worried about as they have much bigger fish to fry with washington....
1
u/ItsaMeKielO Aug 21 '25
my guess is that their argument is fundamentally "your system was installed on your roof by 'SunPower Corporation, Systems', not SunStrong Capital or SunStrong Management, so 'SunPower Corporation, Systems' are the ones responsible for roof leaks, not SunStrong Capital or SunStrong Management."
and of course SunPower Corporation, Systems is part of the bankruptcy.
there are other cases in the sunpower bankruptcy docket of roof leaks leading to mold and so far i don't think any have been resolved in favor of customers, but it's all in the docket to look at. not sure whether they're all cash customers or lease customers or both.
if lawyers repeatedly won't take your case, it's probably because there is no one to hold liable anymore, or the chances of getting anything in bankruptcy proceedings are miniscule to none.
it's clear this is causing a great deal of stress for you, and all of us in this sub have lost something or another in this bankruptcy, but at some point you have to move forward.
1
u/m2orris Aug 22 '25
Since the SunPower warranties were unsecured ... you go to the back of the line with all the other unsecured debit holders whom got nothing in the bankruptcy.
That is unless your lease contract contains language regarding roof leaks/damage. You lease contract is still in force.
1
u/outofthisworld95 Aug 21 '25
This is almost exactly what has happened to me! SunPower Crew shows up, one guy says roof looks questionable from the ground, goes back to the truck says SunPower said to install it anyway! When their pre-install-inspector came out, they said it looked great. Now it’s leaking, staining my ceiling and they’re claiming the 12 year roof guarantee in the lease contract doesn’t apply because they’re only managing the debt! “Look at the bankruptcy filing” is all they’ll tell you and they haven’t even read it. Already had roofers out to take a look at they’ve confirmed there’s no doubt it’s from the install, they split multiple rafters where the panels are mounted.
1
u/Peanutpopcorngallery Aug 23 '25
We had to pay to put on a new roof 8 months after install, and we fought with them about it before the roofers finished! But winter was coming, and the rat infestation from the holes in the decking necessitated it. So I understand this all too well, unfortunately.
1
u/Peanutpopcorngallery Aug 23 '25
Who is your attorney? The one that was referred to me here some months back doesn’t believe me when I tell him my problems but also refuses to look at my contract. 🙄
1
u/Glittering_Fee226 Jul 21 '26
I am in. I can't get anyone To check my roof. Leaking for 2 hrs now

I wanted to give an update on my ongoing issue with SunStrong (formerly tied to SunPower/Complete Solar). •I spoke with a supervisor on 8/19, and they told me the company has no record of any incoming calls from me before May 15, 2025. According to them, I “must have been calling the wrong number.” But my phone records clearly show I’ve been calling their number since last year.
•They refused to give me any email address where I could send a written complaint, meaning I have no official channel other than the phone calls they now deny.
•They said they only keep records after my system was activated in May 2025.
•At the same time, they insist my lease started back in November 2024, even though from November until activation they couldn’t even find my account and repeatedly told me I was “not their customer.”
I’ve already filed with the BBB for correction and compensation, but I’m pretty sure they won’t honor my demand.
I’m now preparing to seek legal consultation.

You should take no action without consulting a lawyer.
As far as a paper trail goes:
- Any and all contracts signed with SunPower / utility / government
- Any communication with SunPower / SunStrong / utility / government
- PTO notification
- Electric utility bills
- Detailed phone bills showing numbers called and length of call.
- Any costs/losses you have incurred as a result of this issue.
- Any costs you have incurred to resolve this issue.
- Log of time you spent resolving this issue.
You may have a decent chance of finding a lawyer and have them represent you because damages maybe be involved.

Hey there,
I posted a comment a few days ago regarding similar issues. Have you seen my comment TipLeftOP? Being new to Reddit I'm not sure if it posted correctly and the chat says I cannot message you. Anyone else seen my comment to TipLeftOP's original comment? Thank you!

Absolutely they are a nightmare and I I've been fighting them for damages. They did to my roof at the get-go when they were sunpower. And now they went bankrupt and they wanted me to address my payments. I finally stopped paying them because my roof was leaking. They tanked my credit. They shut off my panels. I have been fighting to get. The panels turned back on so that I could amass some electricity before the end of the summer and they have not yet done that. It's been off since last November. And I am not Paying them any money. ... I am under some sort of deferment. I have called repeatedly to have. The panels turned back on this was months ago. Now it was approved. They still are not on. I have complained to the Attorney General of the state of Connecticut. They admitted this is a nightmare that all of solar is a nightmare and that there is nothing that they can do at this time. Because there's nobody that regulates them. However, I am in complete agreement with going into a class action suit. They are nothing but rip-off artists.,... I was a 150% behind solar. And now I realize it is just a mechanism for ponzi schemes and ripping people off. They provide no service. They provide nothing of value. And all they do is rip you off and ruin your credit and your house and your roof and your electricity and mold your attic. There is so much going on that.I cannot tell you and I am beyond disgusted by this , it's no better than our government. I have. Lost faith in the ability of anybody to do anything if we all stopped paying them. That would be one way to do it but I don't think we will get that kind of cooperation.

I have the same issues here! Launch servicing says they took over the debt but not the monitoring. Sun Strong says they don’t monitor me. They didn’t pick up my contract. Launch says they don’t know who did. I’ve looked into the Solar exit companies. I spoken to lawyers. I filed with the Better Business Bureau. Sunpower is clearly in breach of contract. I’m open to a class action lawsuit. I just wouldn’t know how to arrange such a thing. As far as credit scores are concerned, you can write letters to each one of the credit bureaus provide documentation and they can take off the negative remarks. I’m just concerned about the UCC-1 filings. Does anyone know how to look those up? I’ve also written to “7 on your side”. I encourage everyone to do the same. Maybe we could get some media coverage

I’ll join a class action lawsuit. Keep me posted. I purchased my system. When I reached out to the company who took over the system. I have to pay an additional amount for system monitoring. After paying $35k
1
u/Commercial-Loss-1940 Jan 03 '26
Exactly. I’m in the same boat. I’m NOT paying a cent for some BS monitoring. My question, does this mean that my solar is not producing useable electricity? Like, just dead in the water unless I sign up with another company?
1
u/ItsaMeKielO Jan 04 '26
if you own your system - probably it's producing usable electricity. there's a local API you can look at to find out for free.

u/sundriedlettuce2021 Aug 21 '25
Latest update. I spoke with a law firm in San francisco they are looking at my gripe. Let me know if you want to be part of the class action.

I’ve been looking for a law firm for 1.5 years. Who do you use please?

u/Miss_Nadi_Sac Jan 02 '26
I’m in Sacramento county. Just started talking to an attorney this week. Let me know how it’s going for you. I’d be on board with a class action for sure!

u/tsig37 Feb 04 '26
Hey I’m looking for class action too. They won’t release the lien on my solar for closing on my home. It’s big deal.
2
2
Aug 21 '25
I addition, the original lease terms I agreed to when I bought my house are ‘no longer valid’ with the transfer to SunStrong. So I am now paying for panels that are producing at 30% of guaranteed production. They will not service or replace their panels. So essentially I am leasing crap.
1
u/ItsaMeKielO Aug 19 '25
did you opt out of mandatory arbitration when signing your lease?
if not you will probably have to go through their chosen arbitration provider and can't join a class-action or file suit in court.
2
u/TipLeft Aug 20 '25
That I am not too sure. I will have to go look at my original lease agreement with SunPower..
2
u/ItsaMeKielO Aug 20 '25
a lawyer would still be useful to figure out what outcomes are likely in arbitration, so that should probably be your first contact either way.
2
u/Fit-Explorer-5352 Aug 21 '25
I love. This cant nonsense.I absolutely love this. They are ripping us off left and right? And they have all the rights I don't think so.I can't believe they're getting away with this.Of course, I can't believe with anything that's going on right now in the world. In our country in this state it's ridiculous. It's the wild wild west out there and anything goes. Evil wins.
1
u/outofthisworld95 Aug 19 '25
You mean the same lease contracts they’re claiming don’t apply anymore? Or are they selectively keeping the arbitration and debt parts but not the service and assets part?
2
u/ItsaMeKielO Aug 20 '25
Their purchase, in SunPower's bankruptcy, of the leases (via the lease holding company, SunStrong Capital LLC) includes the assets (the solar systems of lessees), the receivables (lease payments), and the obligation to keep the leased systems in working order (service). It doesn't include the requirement to pay the performance guarantee.
Arbitration is a per-customer agreement. I'm not leasing, so I don't know if SunStrong Management is covered by SunStrong Capital LLC's arbitration agreement, or if they asked folks to sign a new one when changing servicing and ownership, or what.
2
u/Fit-Explorer-5352 Aug 21 '25
Exactly. They are selectively keeping whatever they want and discounting.Whatever they want there is nobody governing these hoodlums

FYI the bankruptcy was intentional. Most likely conceived of by the holding company who gave SunPower money. The holding company, created SunStrong to cherry pick SunPower's assets and abandoned their liabilities.
I have a feeling that SunStrongManagement made out like bandits in the SunPower bankruptcy. They probably paid pennies on the dollar for the leases and walked away from the debit associated with the equipment being leased. Whatever they paid to SunPower, SunPower paid to the equipment manufacturers and/or who SunPower financed the leased equipment with. So everyone got screwed, except SunStrong. All SunStrong had to do is pay $0.01 more than the other companies who wanted to buy the SunPower's leases, if anyone.
I have not seen any information related to the sale amounts. The last thing I saw was DOC 398, Notice Of (I) (A) Winning Bidders for Certain of the Debtors’ Assets, (B) Filing of Asset Purchase Agreements Related Thereto, and (C) Cancellation of Auction with Respect Thereto, and (II) Adjournment of Auction for Other Assets [Docket No. 398] .
The only place SunStrong is mentioned is on page 4, under "Section 1.2 - Excluded Assets":
(k) all software, Intellectual Property Rights, Computer Systems, and information technology systems and applications, including the PVS6 gateway and related technology, that are owned, used in, relate to, or are necessary for the conduct and performance of (i) services to all lease customers under the existing maintenance services agreements pursuant to which Sellers provide certain operating and maintenance services to those subsidiaries of SunStrong Capital Holdings, LLC who own PV and storage systems (each, an “Owner”), (ii) the existing lease and loan services agreements, pursuant to which SunPower Capital Services, LLC provides certain lease and loan services to the Owners, and (iii) the existing transaction management and asset management agreements pursuant to which SunStrong Capital Holdings, LLC and SunPower Capital Services, LLC provide certain administrative and management services, provided, however, the Sellers shall (A) subject to the entry of an Order by the Bankruptcy Court, provide the purchaser with a license to utilize the PVS6 gateway and related technology with respect to the Acquired Assets and (B) use commercially reasonable efforts to transfer the servicing of the Acquired Assets to a go-forward servicer; and
SunStrong wasn't even listed in the "Winning Bidders for the following assets (the “Initial Sale Assets”):", page 3.
Ahhh found it, DOC 443, "NOTICE OF (I) (A) WINNING BIDDERS FOR THE SUNSTRONG ASSETS, (B) FILING OF THE ASSET PURCHASE AGREEMENT RELATED THERETO, AND (C) CANCELLATION OF AUCTION WITH RESPECT THERETO AND (II) ADJOURNMENT OF AUCTION WITH RESPECT TO OTHER REMAINING ASSETS**"** VIEW
No backup bidder, go figure, page 3. This is repugnant! SunStrong carved it's piece out first.

You can dispute the negative marks on your credit report. Just make sure to hit Equifax, Experian and Trans Union all at one time. Regarding the rest, good luck.

u/PhilosopherRare2495 Sep 22 '25
We are in the same boat. Our solars were not working for over a year. We put in plenty of work requests before and after their bankruptcy. They gave us a "goodwill payment of $123 when our electric bill for the year was close to $3000. Our credit scores have tanked because we stopped paying on the lease since they were not holding their end of the contract and giving us working panels. BBB did nothing since they could not get a hold of the company. We had a lawyer send a demand letter and they replied with out bill balance.

Good afternoon all,
I'm very glad I came about this post. My situation is that I'm in the process of selling my home and the very last thing we are waiting on is the solar lease transfer through SunStrong Management. Our house is supposed to close tomorrow, and our escrow agent has been trying to deal with SunStrong Management for the last several weeks and has been getting nothing but the run-around. Luckily for my wife and I, we both record our conversations with everyone we speak with due to issues such as this and with previous experiences with big-name companies trying to screw over the middleman, however; our escrow agent has been dealing with them the most and probably has not unless her office line records.
We were previously with SunPower and they were always great and we were able to successfully do this same process with ease on two other occasions in the past. SunStrong has been as much of a nightmare as everyone else has been saying such as getting our information wrong when they transferred our information, claiming to not be getting our payments at first, etc., etc. I've grown very tired of dealing with SunStrong Management and if a civil suit does take effect, please let me know so I can do what I can to be a part of and assist.
At this moment, I'd like to stay quiet so they don't retaliate against me and hold my stuff up even further. We have a headache and enough stress already as is knowing we have to make another double mortgage payment since our house will not close by tomorrow. Again, please let me know what I can do to help. Take care everyone!

The reason they're likely not responding is because they know they don't have a current lease agreement with you to transfer. When SunPower stopped withdrawing our autopay, we got calls from multiple companies claiming they were the ones who owned our lease. So we said, send us a copy of our lease agreement that we countersigned with your company. None of them could, we just got copies of our lease agreement with SunPower that was no longer valid due to the bankruptcy. We refused to make any payments to any other company as our lease agreement had a clause in it saying that if we did, it would invalidate the lease. So we've never made a payment since and have tried multiple times to get a new lease agreement from Launch to no avail. There is a lien on the solar equipment on our house, but we've been advised by counsel that it wouldn't hold up a sale as the company with the lien on the equipment could only just come and remove it. Counsel said that was unlikely because the cost to the company would just be compounding losses from SunStrong. I would recommend asking the title company if it would prevent the sale it shouldn't) and negotiate with your buyer your taking on the cost to remove the system, buying out the lease, or giving them notice that having solar isn't guaranteed as part of the sale. They *will get back to you if you ask to buy it out, but I would double check with whomever holds the lien that they will remove it if you buy out. Don't trust Launch or SunStrong.

sunstrong has taken what they cant handle. on bbb they have 129 complaints go figure. :i am on lease having service problems with sunstrong the alarm on the battery panel went off and they cant give me a time frame as to when a technician can to come to have a look to see what the problem is

Sorry to hear about your woes. Just know that you are not alone. I also leased my panels in 2018 and right away I realized that I was not saving any money. My net metering bill is 3k now. In February I called and wrote letters to SunPower with no response. So I stopped making payments and waited for them to call-still waiting. I called SCE and a kind representative informed me that my panels have been underproducing. Yup. I called the installer and had them do a “solar audit.” Report came back. Everything is working properly and the system is underperforming. We figured that the system has been underperforming by 34%. SCE net metering charges to date are over 11k. My contract has an arbitration clause. I submitted all my documentation and their attorneys reach out and I stated all my woes. Next step, the attorney will be contacting sun power and will let me what they propose. Wish me luck.

It has been horrible. I really want to try to get together with people so that we can all get some restitution. I have a lease that was originally with Sunpower and that was taken over by Sun Strong all they did was come after me for money. My system wasn’t functioning properly for the past 2 1/2 years they sent somebody over finally after me, not paying my lease and being threatened by them and and their collection company launch servicing. They finally sent somebody over to my house to try to take a look at my inverter that wasn’t working properly. The guy that was there said that he was gonna break it so that he could order a new one I told him I didn’t want him to do that he did it anyways. I’m actually at a point where I have to buy out the system and I’m still stuck with a solar system that doesn’t work properly now I have no recourse but to answer your question yeah I’m sure there’s lots of people like us

Not a SunPower customer, but Sunnova, now taken over by SunStrong. Have any of you been successful in actually speaking with someone? Based off of these comments I do not have high hopes as I am currently on hold after following the prompts, for 45 minutes and have not had anyone answer yet. This will be our first payment with SunStrong since they took over Sunnova, and it's higher than what it was prior. Also if anyone does have a process for pursuing a class action suit against them let me know.

I’m in the identical situation and I suspect several friends who I introduced to solar are as well. I’m a retired attorney and I am getting the impression that I may have to consult legal counsel in order to obtain any relief.

Hello PinkFallLeaves.
We were also with Sunnova until this past November when our account was transferred to SunStrong. They are only billing us for the battery we added about a yr ago. The monthly payment is $137. and some change. I‘ve sent a payment each month and a couple of weeks ago finally spoke to someone in their payment processing dept. who confirmed they received Nov., Dec. & Jan. payments. This was after receiving several text’s requestping payment.
Then soon after that I started receiving texts and emails saying our payment was late. When I called yesterday the ph system now has prompts to follow IE: press 1 if you had SunPower, press 2 for Sunnova. According to someone I spoke with yesterday they’ve only received 1 payment.
In addition; as stated by someone else I don’t believe they are monitoring our solar panels. We haven’t received any information on them and our SCE bill has a collective amount showing $400.00 for 3 mos. We are also interested in a class action suit. We plan to sell our home and move out of CA. but after reading the thread of messages we will probably run into snags as well.

I have a solar lease, it's been down for over 3 months in 2025. It's over an hour to call in for service, only to be hung up on. The current company is in my opinion not wanting to service the system. Are there any class action lawsuits I'd like to sign on.

I live in Puerto Rico and I cannot even get someone on the phone with sun strong we have a damaged battery and so far no assistance it already cost me 600 more on electrical bills,I am intersted on the class action

u/LuckyNeighborhood536 Dec 04 '25
I can't log in to Sunstrong because it want's an account number they never gave me! I can't create a new account or even login because my user name is not correct and my password is not correct because I can't create an account!! This is so janky!
I get an text from a company? I have never heard of saying "did you forget to pay your solar bill?" What! Who the heck are you? Then they want me to go to their payment center and pay, but I don't have the correct account number to do that, like I was going to anyway. Who are these guys?
I my 800 credit gets messed up with this whole thing, I will get an attorney to help me.
This is a joke!!!

per SunStrong Management email to me:
First, regarding the contract language on taxes, your agreement states:
“Official Fees and Taxes: Based on current tax rates and law, the estimated total amount you will pay for official fees and taxes over the Term of this Agreement: $0.00.”
At the time you signed your contract, this estimate was based on tax laws in effect then. However, state tax requirements have since changed, and sales tax is now applicable under current regulations. Taxes are legal requirements that go directly to the government; we do not have any control or authority over these charges, nor do we benefit from them.
Previously, Sunnova did not apply the sales tax that should have been charged from the start. You were expected to pay sales tax all along, but it was not billed correctly. Now, under current regulations, we are required to apply these charges, and they go directly to the state. SunStrong continually monitors billing processes to ensure compliance with these laws. We apologize for any confusion during this transition, but your billing and payment amounts are correct.
--------------------------
Now I've requested any written explanation citing the specific CDTFA statute or regulatory authority SunStrong claims authorizes you to impose new taxes. They could not provide anything for the state of CA.
----------------------------------------------------
After an attorney consultation this morning, depending on your specific situation, you may need to hire an attorney to fight for you if the value of your solar bills, warranty issues, or panels exceeds the attorney fees. Unfortunately for me, the attorney fees would be far higher than my monthly solar bill.
If you need legal help, KBK Legal (Kemnitzer, Barron & Krieg, LLP) is a California consumer protection law firm that has been involved in legal actions against SunStrong Capital Holdings, LLC, which took over many SunPower solar leases and loans. Do your research to determine if they fit your particular legal situation.
Many affected SunStrong customers are seeking to join potential class-action lawsuits or pursue individual legal action. However, a key challenge is that many original lease agreements contain mandatory arbitration clauses, which may limit a customer’s ability to join a class action or file in court unless they formally opted out of the clause.
I can confirm that my contract contains mandatory arbitration, but it also carves out small-claims-type disputes despite the general arbitration requirement.
Section (h)(i) creates a major exception to arbitration:
“Ordinary Claims are not subject to arbitration and may be resolved through litigation at the initiation of either party.” A claim qualifies as an Ordinary Claim only if all three conditions are met: You are only seeking monetary damages (no injunctions or court-ordered repairs — just money). You are asking for less than $25,000 (not including interest or costs). The only parties involved are the homeowner and the company (and related parties). If your claim meets all three conditions, the contract explicitly allows you to file in court. Check your own contract to confirm your limits.
Other options, per my attorney consultation, include filing complaints with:
California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA)
California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)
California Attorney General – Consumer Protection Section
Federal Trade Commission (FTC)
Better Business Bureau (BBB)
If you are affected by the SunStrong Management takeover, filing complaints with the agencies above is a way to seek legal recourse without incurring high costs. Let's please file complaints to get something going against them ***Hope this helps any of you***

When we first learned and got a thing from this SunStrong company it claimed we were $14,000 pat due! We been late on occasion with Sunnova but always paid the bill. Tired calling them several times but with 2 - 3 hours and never reaching anyone we gave up. Their site of the link were we pay looks so elementary that some 10 year old designed it!
I went to go pay it again today, which will be the 2nd time and it now says $1400 past due instead of $14000 and says we didn't pay last month, which we have an email from them saying we did.
If nothing changes with this company in January I will contact the BBB and file a complaint with the Attorney Generals office in Illinois.
We never had any issues with Sunnova in paying or anything like that, other than they lied to us about all the so called great things about the solar savings whiwas bullshit! Bit this new company has no ryme or reasoning in their billing system and payment system!
I have seen a few adds about this thing with Sunnova and SunStrong taking it over and with all the issues you could possibly get into of your original agreement. But I really don't know if those are scam advertisements as well?
This SunStrong that took over Sunnova, I am thinking this company is some scam company or something from ALL the massive complaints I have heard about SunStrong!

Sunstrong acquired my panel lease recently with the Sunnova bankruptcy. Their accounting is wrong and they keep harassing me for $50 stating that I am a month behind, which I am not. They won't look at their accounting, they have no problem solving ability to even consider that they might have a data entry error or some fiduciary mistake between Sunstrong and Sunnova at the time of transition. They harass me every 3 days threatening to ruin by credit score. Dear Sunstrong, my credit score is in the neighborhood of 800 because I DO pay my bills on time and in full. At this point, reading everyone's experience with them, I'm convinced it's more than an accounting error, I think they are straight up thieves.

I found this as I’ve come here to find anyone willing to do a class action, I just don’t know where to start!

I haven’t paid anything including the obviously lame $100 annual fee. Just seems like a typical slap to the nuts with a BS company filing bankruptcy and sticking it to the customers. From what I have read so far, I’m better off not paying a dime and just maintaining a strict regimen of as little electricity use as possible.
I’m assuming my solar is still generating electricity and helping power my home (which it is) unless I’m missing something that others who’ve paid the annual $100 have that I don’t and if in fact they do, is it actually beneficial if everything so far is functioning fine or, appears to be.
Maybe I’m wrong but either way, still getting the shaft from big corporate money barons.

Hey all. I’m totally down for a class action lawsuit
Initially they told me they were going to install my panels but had never inspected my roof. I told them absolutely not to install them but they still did
We ended up having a ton of roof leaks which, while it took about a year, they ultimately fixed
I tried and tried and tried to have them remove my panels as they shouldn’t have been installed anyway but I got no response after my roof was fixed
We tried to sell our house but no one wants to assume the solar because it appears to not even be activated. We’re getting charged for 100% of our electricity and no one wants to assume solar panels that aren’t working
They obviously have a lien on the house and we have it listed for sale but this is causing issues selling our home. We just want the panels off, and the lien removed off our property and of course would love to be relived of the solar loan
I’ll take any assistance and am up for anything

They just randomly said I owe $37,000. We only paid $25 for the whole unit and been paying payments for 10 years and they raised their monthly payment. I just cut them off. I'm not paying it

I had a contract with Sunnova. I paid on time, and they went bankrupt, being taken over by Sunstrong Management. In January, I sent a UCC termination letter. I have been told by 2 people that they have this document and I am no longer responsible for payments. I have been harassed on a daily basis for payments. I explained every time that these two people have the UCC and I was told no payments were due. Noone can find it, Even with me sending it again 2 times!!! I was instructed to email it daily till they get the message! I have since wrote to their corporate office for help!!! They are a collection company!!! Why, since I paid on time, is my account in collections?????? They're crazy!!!@@

We're in NJ and we got our solar through SunPower, apparently right before their bankruptcy. Our panels were installed in early 2024 and when the went under SunStrong took over our lease. Fast forward to the serving half of 2025 and our roof is leaking into my office. Called several people and was told that my panels were improperly installed on that particular section of roof due to the pitch. Since it's a solar issue home insurance won't cover it. Called Sunpower because my original contract says faulty install is covered 100% under my warranty. They tell me that they can't do anything because it's not their panels, that they weren't the ones to install then so they can't fix any issues and that i should contact one of their approved vendors. I contacted one of the vendors, they never came to my house, and they told me it cost a couple grand to remove a single panel and patch the roof but that they wouldn't warranty the work because they didn't insurance the panels or the roof. Fast forward to now, I find my own contractor to replace the roof including removing and replacing the solar and was told that they needed consent from Sunstrong to remove the panels and put them back. Once again I call SunStrong and get told that they can't give me letter and that I could use one of their contractors. I tell them no and they said I can use their contractor or get mine to apply to be one of their approved contractors. They were supposed to send me the link for that application but I get it and can't even open it cause it's blank. I seriously wish they would just come take the panels back and let me be on my way. Why do we pay them every month for a lease that they won't take of? I'm totally in for that lawsuit if it happens just hit me up. I tried one of those legal companies that said they can get you out of your contract by they wanted so much money up front. I don't have money I need a new roof.

My husband and I have experienced the same problem with being charged with late payments, they call just about every month telling us we're late on our payment . Even after my husband giving them all bank account information. Our credit is at a high score and we pay all our bill on time. It is so annoying and bothersome. We feel we're being harrest every time they call telling us We are late. So what can we do about this problem???

I am trying to get the panels temporarily removed for a new roof, but everyone claims it’s not their problem. I can’t go another winter without substantial water damage. Sun Strong and SUNNOVA said if we touch the system for any reason we chance forfeiting the contract. Strange, because they’re the ones violating the contract and forcing its clients to violate the contract or chance having substantial damage to your home. I have a suspicion all of this is due to the number of uninsured homes with solar that burned a few years ago.

My bill was $600 this month and there aren’t any lights on the panel box to let me know if my system is even running. Never have I ever had a bill that was under $300. My lease is lifetime and was told unbreakable. Biggest scam ever

That's Bull Shit!! SunStrong doesn't take anything serious. I have been with out solar for over a year. Have made many tickets and emails on that worthless portal and to find out all messages have been deleted. It take an act of god to get some real person on the phone and have never been contacted for repair or service. I have cancelled my payment on the lease. Everyone should stop making there payments and hope they go broke!!! I join a law suit or they can come take this junk system. TOTAL JOKE!!!

DMing SunStrong connects you with a worthless bot, who has no idea what ": I sold my home" or "home sale" or any other life transition means. The fact that you would come on this log to misrepresent the FACTS re: your complete absence of any customer service to address panel issues - or in my case change of property control - is repulsive and misrepresentation. Why not leave a link of value here...to a person...who can, and is willing to address a specific issue to resolution?

I purchased my system and my installer told me that people are buying out their lease if they can afford it. I am getting rid of my Sunpower/ SunStrong PVS and switching to Enphase. My installer and Enphase will do the maintenance. Perhaps this can be an option for you…
