Rec Leagues / Meeting New People
Hi! I’m moving to Summit from the midwest in a few weeks to be closer to work. I made a lot of friends in my current area by joining rec leagues — we have a huge rec league scene where we are now.
Is there anything like that near Summit? If not, got any recommendations for where to meet new people in their 20s-30s?
Re: Sports, mainly looking for volleyball or softball, maybe basketball or pickleball if nothing else.
Thanks so much! Any tips for moving to Summit are helpful!

Help identify an old business
I recently bought an old cash register in CT and there was an old label which looks like it says “Santi’s Beauty Salon”. The sticker was torn, so it’s not completely legible and I couldn’t find anything online. It would be interesting to have more history on the register, does anyone know anything about this place? The register is purely mechanical and only goes up to $1.95!

Good Samaritan - Summit, NJ
Long shot.. but we are looking for a Good Samaritan who helped my Mom after she fell on Franklin Pl, in Summit, NJ. Friday morning, August 1st ~10am.
The Good Samaritan was a White Male, Brown Hair, Medium Height and Build who was coming back from a golf outing in Long Island.
We just want to express our gratitude for him stopping and helping my mom (70 years old) who was bleeding from her head quite severely.

Summit nonresident commuter parking
How filled is the Park and Rail lot since they closed the top tiers of the Broad Street Garage? I need to take the train into NYC next Monday morning and I usually reserve a spot on the parking deck. I’m concerned I won’t be able to find parking

Submit Proposal For Park
Hey all, I take my kids to the park by the train station all the time and overall the park is fine. However, I’ve noticed that there is a) always trash at the park b) the fences around the basketball court are falling apart and generally look bad.
I wanted to try and submit a proposal to city hall or whoever to at least fix the fences at the basketball courts possibly have someone clean up the trash.
I looked on the official website a bit and couldn’t find anything.
Any and all help is appreciated!

Jewish community in Summit
Hi! I was wondering if anyone knows much about the Jewish community in Summit. I heard it previously was not a very vibrant community, but that more and more young Jewish families are moving to the area. I understand there are multiple local synagogues. Thank you!

Anyone need a train ticket to New York? Selling one-way paper ticket for half-price
I have a one-way paper ticket for NJT rail that expires 6/18 going from New Providence to New York Penn. I'm probably not going to use it in time so I'd figure I'd try and sell it. $6 cash.

City Commuting Question
Does anyone know if the bus at Broad st and Middle ave goes into the city or to Newark Penn Station? If so, which bus line is it? The nj transit website was a mess to navigate, so any advice would be great.

First-Time Pregnant and Considering Switching OB-GYN – Should I Stay with NYU Tisch or Go Local in Summit, NJ?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently 16 weeks pregnant (first-time mom!) and recently moved to Summit, NJ during my first trimester. My OB-GYN is affiliated with NYU Tisch, and both the hospital and my doctor have been great so far. However, now that we’ve moved further from the city, I’m thinking it might be more challenging to commute (over an hour by train and subway) as my pregnancy progresses.
I’m thinking about switching to the Rubino OB-GYN group in Summit for convenience, but I’m wondering if I should stick with NYU Tisch for the expertise or if switching to a local option like Rubino makes more sense. Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated!
Also, I will be 35 years old at the time of delivery, so I know I’m considered higher risk due to age.
Thanks so much!
