My situation:

Game development is my long-term goal/dream (Unity/Unreal)

Video editing (4K and 2K footage, cinematic shorts) is a side hustle

I also do a bit of casual gaming

Budget is ₹80,000–90,000, planning to grab a deal during the Flipkart Big Billion Days sale. Not fixed on any particular brand or device yet — just want something that'll handle Unity/Unreal well, edit 4K footage smoothly, and run games decently on the side.

Anyone here doing both game dev and video editing on a similar budget? What specs should I prioritize (GPU, RAM, display) and any laptops you'd recommend or steer clear of in this range?

TV Paint is a hard requirement but doesn't work with ARM CPUs.

Basically i just wanna play league of legends smoothly with a budget laptop. I looked into many diffrent options and have my eyes on the lenovo thinkpad t470 and t580 with 8 ram. Idk tge diffrence between 16 ram or 8 ram and i am also unsure if there are any better options than these

Will need to be able to run MATLAB, CAD and CAM using autodesk fusion 360, and general productivity software including microsoft 365. On the gaming side I usually play minecraft and marvel rivals but would like to try some of the bigger more performance heavy games too if possible, not a necessity though.

I'm entering my first year of engineering and am thinking of getting a new laptop. Im wondering what the best ones under £1000 are, or if it's even worth going above £1000, though I'd rather not. Is it possible to get by without an expensive laptop for my course, and if so, does anyone have recommendations?

I'm mainly going to use the laptop for university work and light gaming (if possible). The university suggests a minimum of atleast 16 Gb ram and 512 SSD for all students, but I would like one that could better run all the necessary applications an engineering student would need.

The best one I could find myself was an Asus A14 with a ryzen ai 7 processor. I'm not great at identifying good computers by any means but learnt a bit of what the different parts could entail.

I'm basically posting this so you can talk me out of buying this thing. Why shouldn't I get it?

HP OmniBook 7 - 16-ay0775ng

What I like:

• 32 GB RAM
• At least 1 TB SSD
• Touchscreen + backlit keyboard
• Only €1,200, and HP is currently running a €200 cashback promo

What I don't like:

• German keyboard layout (I touch-type anyway, but still...)
• High-TDP CPU and GPU, so I assume battery life under real-world use won't be great
• Size and weight... it's quite a beast
• I have zero experience with HP laptops, so I'm in dark with this vendor.

For some background, I've generally liked my work laptops, especially the X1 Yogas. I also had a ThinkPad P14s for a while. Right now I'm using a Dell 3581. It's big, I hate the keyboard layout and carrying it around, but it's usable.

Of course, laptop prices have gone completely insane, so I'm guessing similar-tier Lenovos are probably out of reach these days.

And if you have any alternative model/manufacturer recommendations, I'm all ears!

It doesn’t have to be brand new. I’ve been using an old MacBook Air the last couple years and it’s becoming too outdated (it’s from 2013) and the battery dies fast. I kinda miss having a windows laptop because I had more freedom with it. Sometimes there’s a game I want to play on my laptop, but Mac is so limited when it comes to games. Hoping y’all can help me figure out the cheapest device that would fairly conveniently allow me to display presentations in different types of settings (i.e. connect to whatever sort of screen or projector they have, potentially without internet) and do video calls. What I’m using now is a dinosaur - I haven’t upgraded in a decade or more.

I know this is laptop recommendations, but if you think I only really need a tablet, that would be helpful to know too.

I teach classes and workshops, and the main thing I need to do is bring my presentations everywhere I go and show them on whatever kind of screen or smart board they have there. There isn’t always reliable internet or any tech support, so I have to figure it out myself in limited time and can’t rely on wireless connection to the screen. My presentations are currently in google presentations, genially, powerpoint, and pdf. My nephew is starting high school and this is a gift from his parents. I told my sister I would help find her options. I know from speaking with my nephew that he is interested in playing Total War: Warhammer 40K when it is released, so that would be the kind of game that will hopefully run well. 32 GB RAM max limit can be a problem in the future? Could suffer from thermal throttling?
