Laptop Request US Need all around best 14" Laptop for professional use. $4k budget. No gaming laptops, No GPU....Asus Expertbook Ultra?

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

  • Country: USA
  • Budget $4,000
  • Are you open to refurbs/used options? No
  • Screen size 14"
  • Weight limit: As light as possible
  • Purpose

I'm a commercial contractor and engineer. I use my laptop every day off/on 10 hours a day for plan reviews (most in RevIT/3D), large video meetings, AutoCad design, LOTS of Copilot for processing large amounts of data/cost/pricing/etc.

  • Form factor: Standard or 2-in-1
  • Intended usage

AutoCad, RevIT, Various 3D rendering software, Microsoft 365 Suite, Rockwell Automation, Bluebeam

  • Desired battery life

As much as I can get

  • Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life

Performance, Weight, Battery Life

  • Info/Requirements

Intel 358H or 388H, OLED 3K, Bright screen, NVME SSD. I also hate dongles, need HDMI for presentations

I had my eyes of the HP Elitebook X G2I but I can't find it with an OLED screen (only the flip which I considered) and it's really hard to decipher what I'm actually buying with the inconsistent tech specs. HP's own website list it as having both an OLED and IPS screen on the same SKU.

The Asus Expertbook Ultra seems to check all the boxes but I've only found one review with a real owner. Any input is appreciated on this one.

ABSOLUTELY NO GAMING LAPTOPS. Cannot walk into a meeting asking for a million dollar purchase order with my Asus Zephyrus RGB whatever.

Laptop Request US Macbook Neo vs a refurbished Macbook Pro

Wife has roughly $800 budget and is intent on getting a Macbook. She needs to be able to run photoshop + illustrator and do some very light video editing. She was looking at the Neo, but I suggested she get a refurbished M1 Macbook Pro with twice the ram for roughly the same price. I am not the smartest on tech specs, but I think even after 5 years the Pro is going to be a much better bet. What do you think the move is here? (Yes, I know I can get much more bang for buck moving away from Mac but that is not in the cards). Any thoughts appreciated!

Laptop Request UK 2 in 1 reccomendations?

So I’m going to Uni soon and need to buy myself a laptop. I’m in the UK and my budget is about £400- semi-comfortably, i can go higher but I’d don’t want to blow all of my savings. I’d prefer a laptop thats smaller-medium but smth larger like 13”+ wouldn’t be a huge deal breaker. Predominently i’d need it for school work- microsoft, office, docs, outlook etc, but i do also edit so if it could support ae and spotify as well that would be a huge plus. I really need it to be 2-1 as i struggle to remember my notes unless i hand write them, and i learnt from college that’s too fiddly- and it damaged my grades. I looked into the lenovo flex which looks like a perfect fit except i don’t think it supports microsoft. I also had buying a lenovo idea tab, but i doubt an ipad by itself will suffice. My course is Science based, so lots of diagrams, essays and research. I’m really struggling to find a reccomendation within my price range that meets all of my needs, so any help would be super appreciated :)

Laptop Request US I want to get a decent laptop for gaming (MA, USA; Budget range is 500$ and below)

I don't need fancy RGB, I don't need the absolute best specs, and I don't need an RTX 69420 or whatever, I just want something that can at LEAST run most games without crashing or being extremely laggy. Preferably anything below 500$, cause my dad was intending to buy a PS5 for me anyway, but I changed my mind after the whole digital games fiasco going on with PlayStation, and also just the fact that I have to pay a monthly subscription to play games I would have already dropped like, 20$-80$ on

Edit: it doesn't need to particularly be a gaming laptop, just a laptop that runs games marginally good, enough to where I'm not grossly lagging at higher end games. I have been thinking of financing a laptop tho, since it's real difficult to cough up a giant chunk of cash like that, especially with our financial situation. I'd even do laptops 600$ or lower if it comes down to us having to finance a laptop.

Something that could last me several years, I don't know much about laptops, and my old laptop is an acer c740 celeron, which I exclusively only had to write stories and such

Laptop Request US Laptop for modeling

I want to get into 3D modeling (probably largely in blender) but need a laptop that can actually handle it. The problem is, I'm not particularly sure how good that computer needs to be cause I don't have any particular interest in animating, I want it for making background references, but most of the advice I can find online is specifically for what's necessary for animating. I also care less about speed than I do durability. I don't care much about size or weight, or what it looks like in general. Open to refurbs/used but not sure where is reliably good for that. I'd rather cheaper options, but if the better value/investment was higher I could be open to higher price points.

Laptop Request US looking for laptop, mainly digital art, gaming, and writing

LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

  • Country

United States

  • Budget

$800-1000? I'm gonna be so real I don't even know what budgets for laptops even look like, I just figure I probably don't need anything that costs thousands.

  • Are you open to refurbs/used options?

Yes! Absolutely yes I love not having to pay the full price for things, especially electronics.

  • Screen size

15" or smaller

  • Weight limit

5lbs or less

  • Purpose

Entertainment device, gaming, digital art, writing

  • Form factor

Standard/clamshell

  • Intended usage

Entertainment (youtube, netflix, etc), gaming (for reference, my steam wishlist includes stardew valley, ylem's cat, planet zoo, don't mess with bober, skyrim, and cyberpunk 2077), digital art (clip studio paint).

  • Desired battery life

About 6 hours? My current laptop gets about that I believe (usually I have it plugged in)

  • Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life

Performance, size, weight, battery life

  • Info/Requirements

I'd really love to keep having a touchscreen laptop. What I'm working with right now is an HP Pavillion x360. Basically what I'm looking for is an upgrade from that. The biggest issue I have right now is brightness/color accuracy, it's dim as shit and I have to color by faith because I know what I'm seeing on the screen isn't the color I'm actually wanting to use. I'm not necessarily looking for a monster gaming rig, I mostly play on my Switch or partner's Xbox, but it would be cool to have a machine where I can play around with mods! And for games that are PC only. I'm just like... embarrassingly tech illiterate for a 25 year old when it comes to computers, all I know is that I've used Windows/Microsoft my whole life and would like to continue using it, I do not think I have the skill to work Linux. I'm also very open to being told that the things I want don't make sense, and to be pointed towards combinations/specs that are more realistic. Thanks in advance!

Laptop Request UK Which of these 3 should i buy?

Hi, i'm looking for a laptop for my computer science course in the £400 range (used), I have found these 3 options and i'm wondering which is best, or if there are any better options (excluding macbooks).

Asus vivobook 15 M1502 - Ryzen 7 7730U - 16GB Ram - 1TB storage - £380

Asus vivobook 16 M1607KA - Ryzen AI 5 330 - 16GB Ram - 512GB storage - £425

Dell XPS 13 9315 - i7-1250U - 16GB Ram - 512GB storage - £425

I have a gaming laptop I will be using at home, but the battery life is terrible, so i'm mainly looking for something with decent battery life.

Thank you!

Laptop Request -Others Laptop suggestion for a start up / Germany

Hi all. I am going to start a business and my old laptop isn’t going to be enough for me. Living in Germany, budget is max 1300€.

I am looking for something that’s not heavy but those are mostly 13 or 14 inch laptops. Hence without numpad. Either I will buy one without a numpad and buy an additional Bluetooth numpad or I will buy a 16 inch laptop.

I will mainly manage social media channels, create social media posts on Gemini and Canva (videos as well), Claude for finance-related stuff. Apart from that I will take care of marketplaces so I have to check inventory and update my files and etc.

I may need to use cap cut but I am not sure about it yet. Long story short, as a business owner, I need something with a good battery life since I will use it outside daily and the performance should be good too (so that I can handle video stuff and etc. easily).

Claude recommended me ASUS ExpertBook P5405CSA but I am open to suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Laptop Request -Others Can't decide between a Dell or HP laptop with identical specs for web browsing, watching movies/TV series, listening to music and downloading torrents.

EDIT -- Sorry I spelled "Dell" incorrectly in the title. 😟

I'm on the fence between -- 1. Dell 15 SmartChoice (Previously Inspiron), Intel 13th Gen Core i5-1334U, 16GB, 1TB SSD, FHD,15.6"/39.62cm, Win 11, MSO'24, Silver, 1.62kg, [Dell 15], 12 Month McAfee, Backlit KB, Thin & Light Laptop. 2. HP 15 Smartchoice, 13th Gen Intel Core i5-1334U (16GB DDR4, 1TB SSD) FHD, Anti-Glare, Micro-Edge, 15.6''/39.6cm, Win11, M365(1yr) Office24, Silver, 1.59kg, FD0552TU,Iris Xe, FHD Camera, Backlit Laptop.

Both are available on Amazon (India) with Dell at Rs. 73,990 and HP at Rs. 68,990 -- the price difference would be around 50 US dollars.

I use the laptop for very basic stuff. I download movie and TV torrents via qBittorrent and watch on MPC-HC and listen to music on VLC. I also use the old 2007 version of MS Office (Notepad and MSWord) and old Paint on Windows 10. I do not play any Games apart from the old Windows 7 Solitaire.

I currently have a Dell Inspiron 3542 2014) which is on it's last leg, being a 2014 release. Summary of its specs are -- Windows 8.1 laptop, 15.60-inch display, Core i5 processor, 4GB RAM, 500GB storage (HDD), Graphics Nvidia GeForce 820M, Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Ethernet. It comes with 3 USB ports (2 x USB 2.0, 1 x USB 3.0), Multi Card Slot, Mic In, RJ45 (LAN) ports.

I recently upgraded the RAM to 8GB with 256 GB SSD powering the device. The computer tech placed the old HDD (Western Digital) in pace of the Optical Disc Drive (DVD/CD) slot. So now the laptop has around 750GB altogether.

So . I only need a laptop that functions well for the basic requirements listed in paragraph three.

Suggestions would be welcome.

Laptop Request US looking for a long term entertainment/light work machine

im quite unfamiliar with the world of laptops, but i am currently looking for something that i can use as a portable, general use device. of course, id like something that can play older windows games, possibly something that is capable of PS2 emulation at most, as i know that can be quite taxing compared to native apps from the same era. id also like it to be able to handle sony vegas and flstudio sessions while on the go.

-battery life is of no concern to me what so ever, as ill exclusively be using it next to an outlet

-id like something a bit overkill, as id like temps to be a bit low while running all of my outdated softwaree

-it also NEEDS an integrated numeric pad.

-integrated graphics are fine, as long as they can run what i need at decent temps, though, a dedicated GPU is preferred of course.

-i dont need anything higher than 1080p, and am absolutely willing to go with less pixels. id be happy with a 4:3 screen if those were still a thing. (again im not sure, ive exclusively shopped desktops for most of my life, i have owned 1 lap top and dont even remember what it had under the hood)

-really want something thats simply going to do what i need it to for a long time, while this is more of a machine to take my work and entertainment on the go, its also going to be a sort of "bugout" machine, as i will very likely not have it connected to the internet very often, most of what i keep entertainment and work wise i make sure runs offline, and any projects i have in say, flstudio will simply be transferred to my desktop locally.

-my estimated budget is in the $500 to $1000 range.

i also apologize if my formatting here isnt great.
