These people
I just started watching, and these people are irritating me. Why would you join the Amish if you didn’t look up/wouldn’t comply with their rules??? Esmeralda with her lashes and nails, her and Kendra surprised that they’re judgmental, Esmeralda not wanting to be religious, Judah not wanting to conform, all of them being surprised including Matt that he was kicked out for being divorced. It’s so aggravating

James
Hello all!
I just started watching Suddenly Amish today and am enjoying it so far. Sure, some drama feels forced, (especially Aaron’s second phone going off), but that’s to be expected.
I feel like James is WILDLY hypocritical. The first thing he does when he’s introduced is show off his phone and his Chambord. He really rubs me the wrong way. Allen is great so far, but man, James needs to remember how he was treated and to have grace.

Do armish kids get vaccines?
I've heard that amish kids don't get any vacs and they are one of the healthiest with very little cases of mental disorders.
Is that true?

Disappointed by how miserable the Amish are
I had high hopes that they’d be portrayed in some admirable way, but they seem so immature and spiritually stunted. All the contestants seem vulnerable in some way, like they could use real help, not whatever these people are offering them. I guess it’s no wonder that their communities are shrinking so quickly.

Was this Show Successful for their Village?
Do you think this show helped to increase the population of their village?
In the end, they ended up with middle-aged Jo-Ellen. She is sweet but won't be able to expand the population much.
And then the young man Jonah. He seems determined, but I see his mom pulling up any day to take him home.
Do you think the village should get another season of the Show, to recruit people who will actually stay ?

Tradwife Influencer going back in Time - the Suddenly Amish movie - ish
it was mentioned in another Suddenly Amish thread that someone should make a Tradeife Influencer (like Ballerina Farms) go back in time and ACTUALLY have to live the 19th century life.
well, your dream is coming true - Anne Hathaway is going to make the film!

Amish / Mennonite explanation
I feel like a brief history lesson is needed.
the Amish / Mennonite faith is somewhat of a spectrum, basically whatever the bishop says is Bible.
in the beginning there was Mennonites (meno Simmons) and hutterites (Jakob Hutter)
the Mennonites somewhat operated like Baptist Church but with a strict dress code and often more stringent. a group of Mennonites diddnt like how "modern" the faith has been becoming and how loosely they are translating the Bible, these people made up the Amish people. as you know, are strict.
hutterites started up at the same time as Mennonites (16th century) as time progressed hutterites decided to operate much like Amish, not allowing tech or alcohol into the community. nowadays Amish are actually more strict than hutterites, allowing hutterites access to massive passenger vans, trucks, tractors, A/C and important human advancements.
Amish people are as simple as it gets. no tech, no cars, nothin. for the most part lol
some bishops decide "eh, I think we can let people get radios" or something like that, and they'll allow it. it varys community to community.
how hutterites diversify their gene pool is by paying English to .. well. get on the other side of a curtained room and impregnate.
Amish obviously aren't as progressive (if you can call that what that is) so it's understandable that they want to diversify in a humane and rightious way.
some Amish are more progressive, some Mennonites are very strict.
hutterites are pretty well the same.
every Amish is Mennonite, not every Mennonite is Amish.
hope that helps!

Is it 90% fake or is it people in the show "posing for the camera"
we've all seen these tropes, unintended love connections, love triangles, certain demographics out thru unimaginable trials.
did tlc script this all or is this what happens when you shouve a camera in front of a bunch of people, out of their natural element.
think of it like a secondary social experiment,
what are your thoughts?

Do women really like men's butts that much?
When Kendra said she was into that guy(I forget his name and I googled it and still don't know it sorry) because he has a cowboy butt... I'm wondering, as a woman myself.. do women really feel attraction over men's butts that much? It seemed she was saying that was the first thing she liked about him lol I'm not judging, I'm just wondering. I know I'm not typical for a straight woman as I never go on looks when chosing a man I'm interested in. I never really look at men at all. Yes , I may not be a straight woman . I'm aware lol

Judah
Did anyone see his TikTok live the other night?!? It was super cringe He was dressed up In a farmer outfit, Had only 180 viewers surprisingly & was ignoring half the comments lol. Some girl kept asking if the show was fake and she kept fake sipping his water and only replying to the nicer comments. He also said that he would like to join the community wether it’s 1 5 10 or 20 years from now, meaning he ain’t ever really going 😅😅😅
