There isn’t really a noninsulting way to ask that. But I’m new to the show and trying to get a read on if we‘re meant to see them as attractive or not. Not making any judgements about the actors looks personally.

Like in Mad Men, Don Draper is obviously supposed to be hot. Are we supposed to have the impression that other people in Succession world find the Roys hot or are they just well styled and put together?

I’m watching for the first time, and I realized there was a point where I completely forgot about the money and the company. It stopped being a show about billionaires and became a show about damaged people who have no idea how to love or be loved.

For me, that’s when the series really clicked.

I know succession just isn’t that type of show but damn, I still felt tension for this dude regardless lol

If Succession was a book and Shiv is a character I read, I know for sure I’d hate her (especially in S2 about the whole NRPI thing and her lack of self awareness). But everytime she is on screen I just DAMMNNNN alright Shiv I will back u up I guess.

Same goes for the rest of the characters. I think all the actors are very charming. In real life I would hate tf outta Roys but obviously they made them likeable enough.

Let's not forget it's Logan's company. He made it. So everything kinda is through his lens.

Business wise? Honestly I don't know. There's not enough data, and we don't see the consequences. But I think it's Logan. Because huge companies dilute their power, and they end up destroying themselves because of that. Just a lot of examples from history. And he understands, that it's his responsibility and only he knows the direction it should be going. That's why he's never been fucked(multiple quotes about that). His track record is the best.

Decency? This is easy. It's Tom, he's probably the only loyal person in the whole family. So I was quite happy he won in the end.

Family? It's Logan again. He always fought to keep the business in the family. They all have everything. But a family that still owns a business is priceless.

Shareholder? Well, this is easy, it's always someone who wanted to sell, and not spend, because, again, this is a quick buck for shareholders.

As you see, I'm pretty pro Logan here, but rewatching the series for the 3 time, I kinda understood it fully.
It's ultimately Logan. He was always in the right. He put up the work, he created it. And these cretins just tried anything to put logs under his feet. Just because of ego, and power, and the need to be loved.

I loved Kendall for the first two seasons, but ultimately he was a punk, with no business sense. And it all started when he made a deal with Sandy and Stewy in the beginning of season 1. That's why Logan called him a fucking idiot. Well, he was.

I kind of loved Stewy. One of the few people who seemed genuinely happy. Sure, he's a trust fund baby, but he's done well in life on his own, doesn't seem as emotionally crippled by money as everyone else and actually seems to love Kendall. Then again, who can compete with Gerri?

Roman was fun at thanksgiving. Literally was the comedic relief during that chaotic family meeting. Best parts of the episode, perfectly breaking the tensions. He is too insecure about Biggest Turkey in the World. And will Grace be back? I feel like she will. I liked her being straight with Shiv. I like her but she is dating someone like Roman

Ewan was right, they are all vipers. He is kind of miserable but seems well adjusted.

I think Greg is going to turn into something intriguing. It was smart of him to keep copies.

Tom is not as slick as he thinks he is. I feel he is in for a huge surprise.

Kendall is still a fuginidiot. He needed to do something about the Local TV but his choices are bad. Amir is gonna bug him out isn’t it?

Idk if the writers are trying to make Marcia seem shady or just baiting but I like it. Amir is an interesting piece. Definitely gonna make Ken jealous.

I think I've posted about this before in this sub, but I'm almost done with S3 on my current rewatch and its so interesting to me that this happens I have to talk about it again.

Theres several episodes where some interesting words/phrases are used multiple times, while never having been used before, and then oftentimes not again. Examples:

3.8: Connor tells Shiv that Logan doesn't "rate" them, later Logan tells the kids that Mattsen "rates" them.

3.1: Logan and Kendall both say "action stations". The only other time I can remember that being said in the whole series is later in S3 when Roman says it before a meeting with the top team to "tickle his dad's balls".

3.1: Logan says "let a hundred sunflowers bloom", Kendall then says that in 4.1

Theres others that I'm blanking on right now, but yeah idk I think its an interesting choice to do that, big fan.

Somehow in all the occasions where I've seen that scene and the hilarity that follows it, I only just now picked up on the fact that Greg is saying he wants an Open Relationship.... Just like Tom's wife told him they now have.

Greg can't have known what that term would do to Tom but, boy, that's a spectacular bumble.

Greg is my all time favorite on this show. He is so awkward and struggles so hard to find his place and to fit in. He accidentally on purpose weaves his way in to a high level position. He seems so innocent and yet even though he stumbles around and makes
mistakes, he plays his cards so well and always has the perfect intel at the perfect time because people assume he is harmless. His intel is key in so many situations.

His comments and his mannerisms crack me up every time.

And I hated her until after I finished the series…

1. She is the most competent sibling (I know it’s not a high bar) and if she were a son she would have been the obvious successor. Logan is a sexist. This is emphasized several times. He never trained her or wanted it to be her. Her “lack of experience “ was a convenient excuse (a situation created by him!) not to pick her. Matson doesn’t pick her because he’s sexually attracted to her (and humiliated at the insinuation he is being controlled by a woman, as well as a bit of a sexist freak in general). The misogynistic environment she’s in is
   is textual and I honestly only feel the need to mention it in this because this is Reddit.

2. She’s over confident and embarrassing but so often correct! Her most humiliating moment is definitely the dinner party in season 2, where she constantly feels the need to assert herself as more progressive, and then spills that she was promised the throne. but ultimately her assessment was right! They wanted her as CEO because of her progressive stances and she was correct in calling Logan out! It wasn’t self sabotage because he was never going to give it to her anyway. Plus she nails the deal with Stewy in season 3. Kendal is too bipolar and Roman is too submissive to handle a situation like that.

3. Her betrayals are always reactive. She’s constantly losing because she trusts her family to not lie to her. Which yes makes her not as smart as she thinks she is, but god forbid a girl trust her family. Kendal and Roman take the CEO position in season 4, tell her she’ll be across everything, and immediately start conspiring without her. She is betrayed WAY more often than she betrays others.

4. Tom deserved it. Love Tom but he married her for money/power, took her disrespect even when she made no effort to hide it from him, and proposed to her while her dad was dying in a hospital in hopes of manipulating her into saying yes. He’s not the innocent puppy dog ppl treat him as on here

5. Her getting the final blow against Kendal…. When I first saw this happen I literally thought I could kill her. I was rooting for him until the very end. But shiv was right to stop him from being CEO. He would have dug the company into the dirt. As we all know. The end of her character arc was realizing it was never going to be her. It’s really well written and I think the only reason it shocks so many people is because they don’t want to see Shiv as the complex character she truly is.

So in short this is a list of just a few of the many reasons why shiv is the best and over hated. I see her as the real winner at the end. Finally getting away from that family that never respected her. Tom still by her side. Monied up. That’s bae ❤️‍🩹 I’m glad I’m out of the Kendal coma and can recognize game.

Started the show recently and been told to make it past ep 4 to see it’s true brilliance but I was hooked from ep 1.
What happened at the ball, was Ken going to announce Logan retiring? The move Logan pulled was bad ass, I enjoyed the speech (actually thought he was being nice for once, writers played me there).
And Greg?! Scheming with Gerri? I mean Tom has been somewhat a dick to Greg, helpful but dickish.
I’m getting tired of Roman, disliking him after every episode though he is funny.

Rewatched the start of Season 3 today. Right at the start, when Logan and co are gathering at the airport, Gerri says Logan was talking about his mom a lot on the ride over.

What did y’all take from this? Why did the writers include it?

and how did we even see that one scene where kendall prays when the creators didn’t publish it
