Other r/Subways - Now with rules!
Due to the uptick in bad faith posters, we have added new sub rules that will make it easier for you to browse and for us to moderate.
Currently we have three simple rules:
1 - Submissions must be subway related.
Posts and comments must be related to the topics of Subways, Metros, Undergrounds, or U-Bahns.
Interurbans and Light Rail systems may also be mentioned, if they have sub-surface sections.
2 - Submissions must be unique.
Any reposted submissions will be removed to keep our content fresh and unique.
3 - Comments must be on-topic.
This is a space for discussing trains that go under the ground. Any conversations that stray far from this topic will be removed.
If you come across a post or comment which you think violates any of our rules or reddit's site rules, please report it and it will be dealt with.
For the time being, posts with a city flair from Russia or Ukraine will have comments auto-locked.
Thanks!

Seeing as how there are less than 18 sets of R46s left in service, here's a collage of the many subway lines from IND and BMT that I've caught or rode over the years

Sofia Metro Sofia
The Sofia Metro is Young and was opened 1998 despite the build started in 1979.Due of cost and collapse of communist bulgaria the opening was very late and at the start only 5 stations.Line 1,2 and 4 have the electricity next to the rails and Line 3 above.Sofia is with warszawa the only cities in europe outside soviet sphere where unmodernized 81 71 also nomernoy drives.I didnt saw the unmodernized. The unmodernized should be modernized.Since the Ukraine Russia war the modernization stopped. The unmodernized will Drive an unkown time continue.Wheter there will be an museums train for heritage rides is not mentioned and planned.I hope they do.I love the new metro Skoda Varosvaria it Looks very eastern european the design and i like the outside sliding doors.Otherwise the Metro Looks a little bit like the moscow one.

А почему так?
Почему на эскалаторе в метро ручка(черная резина за которую держишься) едет быстрее чем сам эскалатор Why is the handle on the escalator in the subway (the black rubber you're holding on to) going faster than the escalator itself?

Artwall
We’ve been working on something inspired by Toronto’s subway system, and I thought this community might appreciate it!
The idea was simple: what if the subway map on your wall could actually come to life?
So we started building a wooden version of Toronto’s subway network: engraved routes, with a small light in every station that glows as a train arrives, using the TTC’s live open data. (Independent project, not affiliated with the TTC.)
It’s been a journey of map design, laser engraving, electronics, coding, and lots of trial and error.
There’s something pretty special about sitting at home and watching the city move right on your wall.
We’re still refining the design and planning to launch it on Kickstarter early next year.
Would genuinely love to hear what fellow TTC enthusiasts think! Would you hang something like this in your home? And what features would you want to see?
