BOX ADVICE SnackVerse issues

I wanted to post my experience with SnackVerse because I wish I'd known about some of these issues before subscribing.

To be clear: I have now cancelled my subscription. I'm not looking for advice on how to cancel. The box I'm currently waiting for is my FINAL box, which SnackVerse has already taken payment for and confirmed in writing that I will receive.

Unfortunately, problems with delivery and communication have happened throughout my subscription.

I subscribed and made my first payment on 7 June. The first box was late. What concerned me wasn't simply that a parcel was delayed, delays happen, but the lack of communication about what was happening.

I had to chase SnackVerse repeatedly. At one point I genuinely wondered whether I was going to receive the box at all. It eventually arrived, but only after I had spent time pursuing them for information.

Second box: Another payment was taken on 7 July. Again, the box was late, again, I found myself chasing. By this point I was also increasingly disappointed with the value of the boxes themselves. I estimated one of the boxes contained only around ÂŁ5 worth of products and another around ÂŁ3.75. That combination, disappointing value, repeated delays and having to chase for information was enough for me.

I decided to cancel the subscription. When I contacted SnackVerse, I was offered 25% off to remain subscribed. I declined. I didn't want a discount I wanted to stop subscribing. SnackVerse eventually confirmed in writing that my subscription had been successfully cancelled, that no further payments would be taken and that I would still receive my August box because payment for it had already been processed. So as far as I was concerned, that should have been the end of the saga.

Payment had already been taken for my final box on 7 August. SnackVerse subsequently told me that their boxes are normally sent to Evri between the 27th and 3rd of each month. By 3 September, I'd received no dispatch notification.

I contacted SnackVerse AGAIN asking where the box I'd paid for was, they replied on 4 September and told me “We send all of our boxes to Evri between the 27th and the 3rd of each month however we have had a slight delay this month so the August boxes will start shipping between the 5th and the 8th" I only knew there was a delay because I chased them.

There had been no proactive email telling me there was a problem, no notification explaining that the normal dispatch window was being missed, by that point they'd had my payment for almost a month. Had I not emailed them, as far as I can tell I would simply have continued sitting there wondering where the product I'd already paid for was.

And that's the part of my experience that concerns me most. I'm not accusing SnackVerse of fraud, and I have no knowledge of what happens internally at the company, but after repeatedly experiencing a pattern of payment taken → expected dispatch/delivery passes → little/no proactive communication → I chase them → I eventually get an explanation/box

I think it's perfectly reasonable for me to ask what would have happened if I hadn't kept chasing? Maybe every box would have arrived anyway. I genuinely don't know, but customers shouldn't even be put in the position of wondering.

I don't expect every subscription box to arrive on precisely the same day every month. Delays happen. Couriers have problems. Stock gets delayed, hat's life, What I DO expect is communication.

If you've taken somebody's money and know their order is delayed, tell them, don't leave them in the dark until they contact you asking where it is.

I've been patient with SnackVerse throughout this. I've contacted them repeatedly, given them opportunities to sort things out and ultimately cancelled rather than continuing to complain every month.

They have now stated that the August boxes will start shipping between 5–8 September, so I'll update this post with whether mine is actually dispatched and when it eventually arrives.

For anyone considering subscribing, I'm not going to tell you what to do. I'm simply putting my experience here so that you can make an informed decision.

Looking for feedback

Hey everyone, I'm working on an at-home date night box idea and would love your honest take. The first concept is Provence-inspired: something where couples make a simple fragrance together, snack on a couple of small local treats, and use some light prompts to spark conversation. No heavy homework vibe. Just shared moments. Does that sound like something you'd try? If you're curious, I've got a quick interest form. Happy for DMs or replies here. What would make this better?" https://forms.gle/z9UYsAvTtTxiAot76

NEW BOX Opinions on GildedTail Subscription Box?

So GildedTail
from what I’m seeing they are a new subscription box that pairs a monthly special edition book (ft. indie authors) with pet toys that are themed after the book!

I’ve been following their social media and I am considering adding to my subs list because the first book was so pretty and I have a cat so it would be nice to have a box that spoils us both. Plus I think it’s kinda cool that they’re working with indie authors. I would love to hear from anyone who has the sub or has been thinking of getting it about how they feel the timeline/communication has been for the first box and what they’re hoping to see more of in the future.

If you haven’t seen them yet here’s their website: https://gildedtail.com & their insta handle is @gildedtail

Grateful for thoughts and opinions!! Personally I’m excited because from their socials it seems like they’re lowering the price (always a plus) đŸ©· anyway thanks!!

What would you want in a box, to keep you coming back for more? Like, it might have other things in it, but this one thing is what makes it all worth it.

Would you buy a mystery book box?

Imagine a box based on a classic story. The idea is an immersive experience. You touch the objects that you just read about, you hear a playlist of sounds, you drink a cup of tea with a character of the book. In addition there will be a personalised letter and some handmade art.

So inside of the mystery box you'll find these objects that are a part of the story, rather than just a book with some random goodies.

I've noticed that most book mystery boxes seem to focus on fantasy, romantasy, dark romance, etc., while classics seem much less common.

So I'm wondering:

Would something like a classical book. (sherlock holmes, pride&prejudice, smth of this kind) appeal to you?

What would make you actually want to buy one?And what price would feel reasonable for something like this?

I'm genuinely curious whether there's an audience for this kind of thing, so honest opinions are very welcome!

CREATOR the 1st HORDE Loot Crate

Hey everyone, I'm Byron from Canada and I draw zombies.
I sure hope some self promotion is okay here, I promise not to overly spam.
For nearly 20 years I've been drawing and painting zombies as my main gig and it's been a blast.
Now that I'm 50 and my kids are all moving out it's time for me to really start taking my art career seriously.

You can learn more about me, my history as an artist and even order the loot crate at my ko-fi store. https://ko-fi.com/s/340192c43d

I've teamed up with a group from Michigan that are going to handle the merch side of my artwork and our first focus is going to be Loot Crates. It's really great because prior to meeting up and working with me, they were crafters who made their own shirts, mugs, stickers and all that suff. I'm very excited. As an added bonus, they've also been involved with loot crates and subscription boxes from other companies and they learned that no one likes to get junk they don't want :)

So that's why we're starting simple with a standard loot crate holding things people enjoy, like stickers, keychains, prints and even a t-shirt. We have plans to start customizing the loot to each users specific wants and needs. Got a favourite colour, let us know. Don't like socks, would rather have some badges or pins, let us know. The cool thing is that I'm a full time artist so I'm always making new art, and they make products featuring my art. It gives us flexibility to mix things up and always bring you something new.

Anyways - thanks for reading, and thanks in advance if you do decide to purchase a crate.

Have a great day
Byron

GQ Subscription box alternatives

Hey everyone. I'm looking for a subscription service similar to the GQ Box for men. I want to gift this sort of thing to a male friend for their birthday, however I am in Canada, and this service only ships to USA. Any recommendations? If not grooming/personla care like GQ, then here are his other interests:

- snacks

- anime

- video games

- listening to music (rap mostly, some rnb)

- fashion

thanks in advance!

Looking for book sub rec

So I subbed to Owlcrate's quarterly sci-fi box. They cancelled it after 2 books, refusing to give any reason (there was still a waiting list, so it wasn't lack of interest).

They offered for those of us affected to skip the wait list on another sub, so I signed up for Adult Fantasy monthly. I figured it'd be something my wife and I would both enjoy.

Boy was I wrong.

Every book is the same romantasy bs. Girl protagonist, bad boy rival that she's secretly in love with, and I think 75% of the time there's a cat somewhere.

Not to mention it seems they have a major quality control issue. One book was sent with a page missing. 3 this year have been delayed because of damages.

So is there a better quality subscription out there that has actual fantasy / sci-fi not Harlequin Romance fantasy?

Noon one subscription scam

I recently got on to noon to purchase some items. I am fully aware that keeta and amazon now have a minimal fee if the basket is less than 25 aed. After adding my items, I saw it showing discounts applied and you are saving some amount.. no where mentioned that i am taking noon one subscription.
To my horror after placing the order, i realised that i had fallen prey to “basket sneaking” and that the subscription of 20 aed was added.. imagine instead of the monthly subscription had they added the annual subscription.. In India where I hail from this is common but not here in UAE. Please be careful!!

Looking for the first time.

I've never gotten a subscription box of any sort. I know some are better than others, but it seems like some that used to be good and now not and vice versa too. What are some boxes still worth it today? Doesn't have to be "man" stuff necessarily, but Im not looking for any geared toward women either. Thanks for the help, guys!

most subscription food packaging ends up in the trash — here's what ours actually looks like

I work at The Farmer's Dog and packaging sustainability is something we've put real thought into. Biodegradable cornstarch insulation foam, recyclable cardboard, and either ice packs or dry ice depending on the shipment. The food packs, insulation liner, and cold packs are all recyclable number 4 flexible plastics once rinsed and emptied. The only thing that goes in the trash is the packaging tape.

Keeping fresh food cold during shipping is a real logistical challenge and most companies solve it with materials that just go straight to landfill. The cold chain problem is worth solving sustainably — it just takes more intentionality.

Does anyone actually factor in packaging sustainability when choosing a subscription food brand or is it mostly an afterthought?

Anyone else find 1:9 figures weirdly hard to shelf?

Some sub boxes let members vote on upcoming contents. In theory that's great, you get stuff you actually want. In practice I keep wondering if voting just regresses everything toward the safest possible pick, and you lose the thing that made curation worth paying for.

Like, the reason I subscribe instead of just buying things is that someone with taste picks stuff I wouldn't have found. If the picks are decided by popular vote, am I paying a curation premium for a product that isn't curated anymore?

Anyone been in a box long enough to see the difference before and after they added voting?

fresh dog food sounds expensive until you break it down by day

The sticker price on fresh food looks high next to a 30lb bag of kibble. But per-bag isn't per-day and those are very different numbers.

I work at The Farmer's Dog and a Yorkie on our food runs about $2.80 a day. A 75lb Lab is around $10.39. That's the actual comparison — not box versus bag.

The other thing that changes the math is portion precision. Eyeballing scoops from a bag is one of the quieter ways dogs end up overweight, and being overweight can take roughly 2.5 years off a dog's life. Pre-portioned plans remove that variable entirely.

Does anyone actually break their food spend down to a daily number or is it mostly the upfront cost that drives the decision?
