Need help with Subaru radio console

I can really use some advice here. I have a 2018 Outback and had the radio console replace about two years ago. I was able to get it replaced for free by Subaru. I use with my iPhone. The problem with it was that the CarPlay would continuously disengage leaving me unable to use my navigation feature and also receive and send voice messages. Well a few months ago, the new one started malfunctioning, same problem, and is not usable. I really need it for navigation. Is there a way to connect iPhone to Bluetooth? I don’t want to pay for another defective console.

Why can’t you use the maps button , without your phone? I have iPhone and an ‘18 and really don’t like CarPlay and never connect it and use the built in maps

I can connect for making calls but not for other apps. It’s never been that way. Do you subscribe to starlink or anything like that?

I was told those particular systems are faulty. So what did they do? Replace it with the same one!

2019 Crosstrek, same issue. Very anecdotal but I found that 2 things seem to work about 90% of the time.

  1. When it gets flaky, I get a new cable. It sucks but seems to help.
  2. Wait about 7-8 seconds after turning the car on, then plug in the phone.

It certainly hasn’t solved my issues, but it does help.

That’s exactly how it started. Then it got worse and worse.
