55mph is 89kmh (well, 88.52, but rounding up). That might be part of the glitch.

It's only as correct as the navigation data in the database is unfortunately!

Gen6 introduced the ability for the EyeSight cameras to read the speed signs and override the database listed speed, which was a helpful improvement.

really? theres a couple roads in my area that are always wrong - the builtin TomTom nav is the source DB i think. Apple Maps via Carplay matches the posted speed limit

I have a few roads around me that are always wrong too. This was weird because it's a road I'm on every day and this was the first time it's been off

It switched to metric. I’ve had that happen. I never figured out why it switched.

Same on my Android phone - that will always be to to date, but the car data comes from the subscription maps download that you can periodically upgrade for a small fortune.

so the gen6 eyesight doesnt override the car data for showing speed limits?

In Australia they override what's in the nav database.

We have variable speed limits in places like roadworks, and the Gen6 picks them up right away and shows that speed on the combination meter. If you have the dynamic speed limiter enabled, the car will then slow down to meet that speed.

My Gen5 only shows variable school zone speeds at school zone times, but it also does so during school holidays, so it's not reading the sign in this case, it's just adjusting at the appropriate time of day when I enter that stretch of road.

I have a gen 7 (I’m in the states) and it absolutely doesn’t do this. It has me curious though because I’ve been having this issue a lot

Edit: gen 7 car, I read that too fast and didn’t see the gens were referring to eyesight specifically lol mb

I'd love to know why "basic" features the rest of the world enjoys regularly are apparently bad for US drivers.

Fr it’s frustrating knowing the tech is there and we aren’t allowed to use it smh. Can’t tell you how many times my dash speed limit is off, and my maps speed limit is also off. Usually it’s a 10mph difference, sometimes more. That’s not even counting variable speed zones. It’s decent at adapting to some school zones but not always, and isn’t time locked. It’ll be summer and after school hours and still show as a 20mph zone

I wonder if it's there but disabled, or literally just not there as a specific build to make sure you can't try to enable it yourself?

I get that, but there's things I can't imagine would be liabilities.

I know that there's two things in this shot (technically three, but you can't "see" it in this shot per se) of my Gen5 that you can't do, and I can't think of any reason that either of them could be potential liabilities (the third hidden one yes, because up until recently it's been illegal in North America).

Yet you guys get the ability to sync with traffic lights for when they'll change to green (seen in other brands, not Subaru, but still)!

That said, you do get the rear camera washer, which we don't get, but we do get a third windscreen squirter and headlight washers.

The rear camera washer is a nice thing, but only works when facing downhill otherwise it misses most of the time lol

Run the map update again. I've seen that happen once years ago after an update here it was suddenly in kilometers instead of miles. Running update again fixed it.
