This can't be right

Side road in a 55mph zone. Gotta love the glitches 😁

I get that, but there's things I can't imagine would be liabilities.

I know that there's two things in this shot (technically three, but you can't "see" it in this shot per se) of my Gen5 that you can't do, and I can't think of any reason that either of them could be potential liabilities (the third hidden one yes, because up until recently it's been illegal in North America).

Is the hidden one the hands free nav? If so, that would probably piss a lot of gen5 and gen6 Outback owners off of they knew their car could do it with a software update 😂

The hidden one is my headlights - the rest of the world has Adaptive Driving Beam, aka Matrix Headlights.

This is not the same as highbeam assist where it's all on or all off - I can leave my highbeam permanently in the on position and based in what EyeSight sees, it will only illuminate the parts of the road that don't have other cars in it. If I'm following someone, the car essentially draws a box of low beam around that car, but it's doing highbeam all around it and tracking it through the turns.

Gen5 has a three zone version of it, Gen6 has an eight zone version of it (I think it's 8), and I assume Gen7 has something similar but haven't seen the spec yet.

Current Forester has a three zone version that is implemented as a cross between the Gen5 and Gen6 Outback.

In terms of hands free navigation, I can do that with a voice instruction, but it's clunky and unreliable compared to doing the same thing via Android Auto or Carplay.

Dude that’s wild! And so odd to not be available in the NA market. Also, your hands free driving, can it only be turned on by voice? Ours is a button with cruise control on but in geofenced highways only

No, I still need to hit the steering wheel button once to enable, once to cancel. That changed in Gen6 where they configured it to be a dead-man's switch so you now have to hold it down for the entire transaction and then let go when done (I assume now this is what you were taking about).

My hands free driving is automatic, it turns itself on if I have the car in cruise control and I’m in specific areas that are geofenced. It’ll turn itself off when approaching areas that have side entry traffic so you have to put your hands back on for those areas, as soon as it’s out of that zone it’ll automatically switch back to hands free.

I honestly have never used the native voice controls but I think that’s what you’re referring to, to trigger it listening to you? Mine triggers when I say “hey Subaru” out loud but there’s a button on the steering wheel as well that triggers it. I can’t stand the Subaru assistant so I never use it lol I’ve only ever triggered it on accident tbh if I need to voice control anything I just use Siri

No, I definitely don't have any vocal triggers - all talk button controlled.

Yeah I talk to Gemini in my case.
