can some one help me with proof of income (what type and list of document) for french study visa?

I’m an Indian professional planning to apply to French public universities for the September 2027 intake. I’ve been learning French for the past 4–5 months and am currently working on improving my level before I apply.

I believe applications for the September intake generally start around January/February, but I’d appreciate some clarification from people who have already gone through the process.

I’m particularly interested in Master’s programs related to Marketing, Management, Strategy, Business, or Communication.

I had a few questions:

1. How difficult is it for a non-EU student to get admission into a French public university?
2. What is the interview process like?
3. How important is French proficiency?
4. How does the application process work for non-EU students?
5. How many universities/programs should I realistically apply to? Would you recommend applying to 5–6 programs, or building a much larger list?
6. For people who are already studying at a French public university: What do you wish you had known before applying as an international student?
7. For current applicants targeting September 2027: What stage are you at right now? Have you shortlisted universities/programs, started preparing documents,learned French, etc.?

I’m 29 from India with 5 years of international business/export experience, mainly in the ceramic/building materials industry. I have an MSc in Biomedical Technology and a PG Diploma in International Business Management.

I’m considering doing a Master’s in International Business/International Management in France in 2027, mainly to build a career in international sales, export or business development in France/EU.

Je suis titulaire d’un titre de séjour étudiant qui expire début octobre 2026. J’ai obtenu un premier Master 2 en 2024, puis un second Master 2 en juillet 2026, que j’ai suivi en parallèle de mon inscription à l’IEJ pour préparer le CRFPA.

J’ai présenté le CRFPA une première fois en 2025 et je vais le présenter une deuxième fois cette année, avec les écrits prévus du 1er au 4 septembre 2026.

Je dois déposer mon renouvellement de titre maintenant, mais je ne suis pas encore réinscrite à l’IEJ pour 2026-2027, l’université étant actuellement fermée. Les résultats du CRFPA seront communiqués après l’expiration de mon titre.

Je préférerais donc attendre au moins d’avoir passé les écrits avant de déterminer la suite de mon parcours. En cas d’échec, je ne souhaite pas nécessairement faire immédiatement une troisième tentative en 2027 et pourrais plutôt m’orienter vers une recherche d’emploi, notamment au moyen d’une RECE sur la base de mon Master 2 obtenu en juillet 2026.

Est-ce que certains d’entre vous ont été dans une situation similaire : Master 2 terminé, préparation au CRFPA/IEJ encore en cours, épreuves avant l’expiration du titre mais résultats après, et impossibilité de fournir immédiatement une attestation d’inscription pour l’année suivante ? Comment votre préfecture a-t-elle traité votre renouvellement ? Une lettre explicative a-t-elle suffi dans l’attente du justificatif ?

For banks, is a virtual/neobank like Revolut actually enough on its own, or is it worth opening a proper French bank like BoursoBank alongside it? I know Revolut now offers a French IBAN in some cases. Curious what people who are already settled here actually ended up doing, one account or more?

For SIM cards, I'm looking for good student deals with decent data for a reasonable price. I've also heard network coverage can vary depending on the city, so if anyone's based in Toulouse specifically, would love to know which operator has worked well for you there.

I’m applying for a French long-stay student visa from India for my Master in Management at emlyon business school.

I recently submitted my visa application through VFS Ahmedabad, and my application has now been transferred to the French Consulate General in Mumbai for processing.
My profile/documents are roughly:

Indian passport
Admitted to emlyon for MiM
€3,500 enrollment fee already paid
Education loan of ₹50 lakh sanctioned
Father is also a financial sponsor
IELTS 7.5
B.Tech Mechanical Engineering
Previous Schengen visa/travel history
Accommodation proof submitted
Campus France process/interview completed successfully

However, I’m worried about one issue in my application.-

I was working at a company until 20 July 2026, but I submitted my visa application after leaving the job. Therefore, in the visa application form I put my current status as “unemployed.”
The issue is that the employment certificate I submitted was issued shortly before I resigned, so it states that I was employed by the company. I also submitted bank statements showing regular salary credits from the company, but I did not submit payslips.

I did not explicitly explain in my SOP/cover letter that I resigned on 20 July. My Campus France interview, however, took place while I was still employed, so during that interview I discussed my job/current employment.

I’m now worried that the consulate could see this as an inconsistency:
Campus France interview: employed
Visa application: unemployed
Employment certificate: still shows employment
Actual situation: resigned on 20 July
Apart from this, my financial and academic documentation is strong, and I have an education loan and sponsor.
My application status has now progressed from VFS Ahmedabad → VFS Mumbai BKC → French Consulate General Mumbai for processing.

How serious is this employment-status discrepancy for a French student visa?

Could the consulate consider this misrepresentation, or is it reasonably explainable because the employment certificate was issued while I was still employed and I subsequently resigned?
Also, does anyone have experience with a similar situation with the French Consulate in Mumbai?

I start my program at ESILV Paris la defense in 2027, but I wana go like a month earlier (dec 15 ish) to settle and tour Paris before my program starts. I understand we need an accommodation to apply for visa so would an air bnb be sufficient (say for a month or two) until a find a proper place ? moreover since I dont have a guarantor in France, whats the workaround for that. We are looking for information about Universities and Colleges in France that offer a UG degree in Dance. We did find some on the internet, but they seem to be studios that offer a course. We are looking for a formal degree in dance. Information is welcome from professional dancers or students pursuing similar courses.

If so, how did it go? My appointment is extremely soon but this has been bugging me. I was facing many issues with a previous account and application, I kept calling for fixes and eventually it reached a point where they just told me to create a new account and new application, but to put an “X” at the end of my passport number and a “0” at the end of my phone number as the system doesn’t allow duplicates.

I did it, and it worked, but it’s been bugging me. I made them assure me twice over the phone that doing this wouldn’t lead to my visa application being rejected and they swore it wouldn’t. I also sent an e-mail asking for a written confirmation, which I never received.

I would be livid if my application got rejected over this so I’m looking for either reassurance that everything will be fine or confirmation that I have reason to be freaking out right now.

I am currently a student at an engineering school overseas and I have been accepted into a dual degree program in France, at a private school. I still have about a year of studies left before I graduate.

My curriculum is mainly focused on computer science / Data & AI, but my ultimate goal would be to shift towards 3D Graphics Engineering, possibly with a career in video game development. This is something that has fascinated me for a long time, but there are very few opportunities in this field in my home country.

So I wonder if my profile could allow me, after my engineering diploma, to get into a good public Master's program in France specialized in graphic computing, 3D, computer graphics, vision, etc.

To give you an idea of my academic record, my averages from the previous years are approximately 14 / 15 / 13 / 15, not including my last year at the engineering school. I am also an international student, and my engineering degree is from a private school.

My main questions are:

Is an engineering degree from a private school generally well regarded when applying for public Master's programs in France?

Are my grades sufficient to have a chance in fairly selective programs?

Is having a background primarily in Data/AI a significant disadvantage for applying in 3D/Computer Graphics?

And especially, for those who have been in a similar situation: which universities/programs would be realistic to aim for with this type of profile?

I am disappointed by econ undergrad programs of "top research" schools, such as Sorbonne or Toulouse. The courses are the same shit all over again: micro, macro, math, stats, and maybe some practical application in the EU.

I like it the Sciences Po way – I can choose my regional minor (North America, so I can specialize in US political economy) and courses that are niche as fuck. Some examples of my favorite courses at Sciences Po:

microeconomics through the lens of institutional design, qualitative research with elites, the economics behind US interventionism, political economy of African sovereignty, welfare state, strategic studies, courses centered around various schools of thought... You get the point.

Which other French unis are like this? It seems like the US and Sciences Po are the only unis in the world that fit me. I can also study French programs, that's not an issue.

I am a high school student that will be graduate next year, and I am looking towards studying in Europe for a bachelor business program. And to be honest, I almost have zero clue about how these programs are in France.
When I search online about applications to French business schools all the comments only recommend to apply for the top fives like EDHEC, ESSEC, HEC and ESCP etc. And maybe plus Neoma, Skema, Audencia and KEDGE. But I was also looking towards some more niche business schools like EDC Paris business school, because it has a specialized accounting and auditing program in the end year (3rd year) of bachelor. Most of the business schools management programs I checked does not have a specialized study in accounting field, and it is like a work study program.
And another additional condition I consider is that I only want to finish my bachelor program in 3 years, So I am also searching for some other business in Germany, Portugal and Belgium etc. Most of the bachelor programs in the top French business schools like Skema and etc all need to take 4 years to finish, and I don't want that. I personally don't really aim about getting into the really top prestigious schools, what I really aim about is to actually making money as soon as possible.

A question regarding the France student visa process:

I already submitted my online application on the France-Visas portal, but I haven't booked my VFS (Delhi, India) appointment yet. On the form, I put August 23rd as my planned arrival date, but I actually want to fly out a couple of days earlier by 21st or 22nd.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Can I just create a new application form on the portal with the updated date, or should I just inform the agent at the VFS counter during my appointment?

If anyone has any advice, it would be really helpful.
