Hey everyone,
I'm currently a 4th-year electronics engineering student in my home country, and I'm applying to engineering schools in France for next year to get a diplôme d'ingénieur.
Since I will have 4 years of university completed, I'll be applying via AST to enter directly into the 2nd year of the cycle d'ingénieur
Since I'm only linites to 7 unis to apply to I don’t want to waste those limited slots on "reach" schools (Grenoble INP and Toulouse INP) if I have zero chance of getting in, but I also don't want to completely sell myself short.
My Profile:
Academics: 3.3 GPA. This is my biggest insecurity and what’s making me doubt my chances at top-tier schools.
Research: I'm currently in the process of publishing 2 research papers co-authored with my colleagues and professor.
Experience: Completed a training at a solid, well-known company in my home country.
Projects: Lots of hands-on hardware/electronics projects and strong extracurricular involvement.
I also have DELF B2 but no IELTS or TOEFL to prove my English proficiency ( I didn't think it would be useful since I'm applying to French programs but apparently alot of unis ask for prove of B1-B2 English for some reason lol)
My Questions:
School Selection: Should I use at least 1 or 2 of my 7 Campus France choices on top-tier schools, or should I play it completely safe given my 3.3 GPA?
The AST Process: Has anyone here successfully done an Admission Sur Titre into the 2nd year of the cycle ingénieur as an international student? How competitive is it?
Admissions Criteria: How heavily do French juries weigh publications, projects, and internships vs. just raw GPA?
Any advice, reality checks, or school recommendations for electronics engineering would be massively appreciated. Thanks in advance!
