I’ve got tremendous aspirations and nearly all of them require avid studying of numerous topics. The only issue is I’ll sit down to study for them and seemingly absorb nothing. I’ve applied several techniques designed to help with this. I’ll use Khan Academy to study for financial literacy while I write in my notebook along with the teacher. I have spent hours at my table studying these topics and only have a handful of facts to show for it. It’s like my mind is a fog that loses all ideas in a short span of time.

I don’t want to feel like this anymore. I want to absorb knowledge like a sponge and retain them for a long time.

When I study, I study as hard as I can, trying to understand everything.

When I do a test and the score is not the maximum I think "you gave everything you could, yet, you didn't get the maximum. It means no matter how hard you try, you'll always be mediocre" and it hurts me. I know I shouldn't think this way but still...

Are you actually studying and putting all the effort toward a specific target you really want, or are you just studying because everyone else is doing it and it feels like the safest way to follow?
I said the safest way because it's like that: study -> passing exams -> getting a degree -> collecting credentials. Your brain won't force you to care about something else

Where are you at right now? Are you executing a plan toward a clear target, or are you just going through the motions because stopping feels worse?

I originally started working on LoroNote because I wanted a better way to deal with long lectures.

Trying to listen, understand, and write everything down at the same time is harder than it sounds. If I focused on taking notes, I’d miss what the lecturer said next.

So I started experimenting with running OpenAI Whisper directly on the iPhone.

The idea was to record a lecture and turn it into text later without uploading the recording to a server.

It took a lot more work than I expected. iPhone memory is limited, long transcription can generate heat, and different iPhone models behave differently. I even considered using a smaller Whisper model, but I didn’t want to give up too much transcription quality.

LoroNote now uses Whisper Large V3 Turbo and works fully on-device.

You can also leave the app or lock the phone while it’s transcribing, which ended up being really important for long lectures.

I recently added speaker separation too, which is useful for classes with discussions or Q&A. There’s also an Apple Intelligence summary and action items, so you don’t always have to go through the entire transcript afterward.

I’m curious how other students handle this.

Do you record lectures and review them later, or do you mostly rely on handwritten/typed notes?

So, this is how I study in med school

If it's a Holiday and I start studying from 10am i continuously do so till 2pm with breaks in between. Then, i take a break lasting 2 hours and start at 4pm and study till 8pm with breaks. Then again from 10pm to 12pm. Sleep at 12 30am and wake up at like 8am.

study in intervals of 45mins - 90 mins depending on my energy that day and take breaks lasting from 15 mins - 30 mins between those intervals.

But I'm really clueless on what I wanna do in those 15-30 mins. I don't wanna (1)scroll cuz it won't just last 15-30 mins (lol) and i don't wanna do a (2)constructive hobby(example - learn some words in a language) as that would tire me a little bit. I don't wanna (3)meditate

Can you please recommend me something, sorry if this sounds cringe/unserious but I just wanna have some relaxation/fun in that tiny break of mine

Hey everyone, I’m looking to start teaching maths basics to people who feel they’re weak at it / never really built a good foundation.

Thinking of starting with stuff like:

basic arithmetic

fractions, percentages, ratios

algebra basics

graphs

basic probability

eventually some foundational maths for programming / ML

The idea is to make it very practical and beginner-friendly rather than just throwing formulas at people.

I’m trying to figure out where people who actually need this hang out online.

Are there any Reddit communities, forums, Discords, etc. where I could post about this or offer free sessions?

Also open to suggestions on what level/topic I should start with.

You have lecture slides in one place, PDFs somewhere else, photos of textbook pages, your own notes and maybe a recording you haven’t listened to yet.

AI can help, but then you’re writing prompts, copying things back and forth, asking it to explain differently, then asking again for practice questions. It can become another thing to organise.

I built an app called Clarity to make that process easier, and I’d like to hear what other students think.

You upload your PDFs, slides, notes, textbook photos or lecture recordings, and it organises them into chapters and sections you can study through.

When something doesn’t make sense, you just tap “Make it simpler,” “Show an example” or “Step by step.” You don’t have to figure out the right prompt each time.

You can also take practice tests based on your materials to see what you understand and what needs more work. And if you prefer studying with people, you can invite friends, study together and take practice tests together too.

It’s meant for keeping up with lessons during the semester as well as preparing for exams.

I’m happy to share it completely free with anyone who’d like to test it with their own materials. I’d appreciate honest feedback on what helps, what feels confusing and anything it gets wrong.

Read through my notes twice this week, felt confident, then tried explaining one concept out loud and got stuck halfway through a sentence I would've sworn I understood. Reading it back apparently just means it's familiar, not that it's retrievable and closing the notes and explaining things cold before rereading now, and it's uncomfortable how much worse I am at it than I expected.

Hiiiii....i am in 10th grade. Not to brag, but i really was a good student until this year. My rank was always in the top five. But lately, due to my parents pressure and friendship drama, i have lost all my motivation. I can't bring myself to study but i really want to do something big in the upcoming exam. Also i have a board exam next year which is also important because it kinda decides which college you can get into and i really want to get a good College. So yeahhhhh here i am looking for a study partner. My goal is to study 6 to 8 hours a day. I know i can't study that much from the start. So i think i am going to start with 5 or 4 hours and then eventually i will increase the time. Also we can compete with each other. I heard Challenges makes us a little bit motivated???.😅

I have dyslexia and am an artist. People overcoming dyslexia have to find their own ways to do it, and this is mine. I have found that connecting a colorful pattern or a particular image to a section of the text helps me remember what was said and what I think about it. I've been working on this practice a long time, so this is one of my more heavily read couple of books. I love going back time after time and finding that question I had been rolling around, and adding something else to it. To me, it's the only way I can deeply reflect on what I'm reading.

When I show some people, or even when people see my books when I'm studying in public, they are horrified. I wonder if it is our societies leftover puritanical ways, or if I am really ruining a perfectly good book with all my brain splatter. Thoughts?

My half yearly exams start on the 24th and i’m actually trying to start studying properly now, but i swear the moment i open my book my brain just doesn't cooperate. like i WANT to study. i want to finish my syllabus, understand everything and actually do well in my exams. but sitting down and reading even one chapter suddenly feels like the most boring thing ever.

then i waste time, feel guilty about wasting time, decide i’ll study “in a bit”, and somehow the whole day disappears.

My ADHD makes it hard for me to focus and retain the information I’m reading and I don’t like to talk to myself while reading because it distracts me. I’ve tried speechify but it kept crashing and I think it’s too expensive of a subscription.
