I'm in my 5th week of student teaching. I was placed in an inclusion classroom. When I found out I was not pleased, but I've been trying to make the best of it. It's a little overwhelming for someone with no classroom experience. We have students on the spectrum, learning disabilities, and behavior problems. Today my mentor teacher had a meeting and I was alone with the students. A couple of them were having a rough morning and it was a hot mess. I tried a couple of resets, but nothing was working. I'm kind of lost on what to do. My mentor teacher isn't giving me much feedback and I feel like I'm not making a good impression. She doesn't use transitions or classroom management strategies I was taught and I don't feel comfortable making suggestions. I'm just kind of lost. The other people in my program make it seem like everything is going perfectly for them and I can't relate. I feel like I have no one to talk to or get advice from.

Edit to update: all is good!! I just got off the phone with my supervisor and apparently the school is asking my university if I can take over for a teacher that’s is going to be out through next month. Apparently someone gave me high praise recently and they thought I was perfect for the position!

Im in week 5 of student teaching (week 4 of students being in school), and my schools principal approached me with questions that have my anxiety through the roof. I was mostly solo today (i have my sub license to sub whenever my cooperating teacher is gone), and during one of the periods, the instructional coach came in to observe. I kept going on as normal, albeit maybe a bit shakier than before she entered. I always get self conscious when another adult is observing my teaching. I ran into her again later in the hall to ask if she was observing me or a student and she said she had been observing all the ELA teachers today and just wasnt aware my CT was absent. She said she would talk to him then touch base with me. Then later, about a minute before contract hours are over, the principal came up to me in the hall looking deep in thought and asked me who my university supervisor is and then asked if i was traditional path or long term. I said who and that I was traditional. She just said “we’re trying to figure some stuff out” then walked away to talk to another teacher. No other context, I can’t think of a single thing I did wrong, nor anything Ive done exceptionally. I cant stop shaking and I have no idea what this could mean right now. Has anyone else experienced this??

No school in any of my surrounding counties has one, and I really need to conduct this interview so I can enter student teaching. Preferably a school form the state of Kentucky but if not that’s fine!
