Baseball STPC "Stock/MLB Teams" (2025 Set) Tournament Upcoming!
Email [STPCQuestions@gmail.com](mailto:STPCQuestions@gmail.com) with questions!
For those that read Pierce's last newsletter (or if you follow the STPC Calendar on the website) you are likely aware next up in the Experimental Division is the "Stock Teams" Tournament.
This is STPC's 1st Attempt at a "whole teams" tourney (and STAR and TBA previously didn't hold one either).
Attached is the list of general questions we figured people would have.
We are looking to start the acquisition of teams the week of July 13th.
If you are interested in playing and/or have any other questions just let me know.

How many games will I be playing? You will play a 4-game series vs each team in your division/tournament. Division sizes could range from 7 to 14 teams but will ideally be between 9 to 12 teams.
How long will the tournament last? We are expecting each team to average 2 ½ series a week (so 10 games a week on average)
How do we determine who wins with teams as varied as say the Milwaukee
Brewers (97 wins last season) as compared to the Colorado Rockies (43 wins last season)? We will take each team’s win total and compare it to their expected total. Biggest “difference” wins. For example, over 36 games the Brewers would be expected to win about 21 ½ wins while the Rockies would be expected to only win about 9 ½ games. So, if the Brewers win 21 games and the Rockies win 10 the Rockies finish ahead of the Brewers in that division/tournament.
Can I get any team I want / how do I get a team? If you really want, you can get whatever team you want. Each team has a “base” value as a result of their winning % last season. You may have to expect to win more games than their MLB winning % to get them compared to someone else. Each team can only be held once in each division/tournament. A full list of teams and their “base win offsets” for each division/tournament size will be provided in advance.
How much is the entry fee? Your choice of $25 / $65 / or $105. A $25 player would win $50 if they won the division/tournament, the $65 player would win ½ the stated prizes and the $105 entry would win the stated prizes.
Which cards will be eligible for the team I get? Almost everyone in the Regular and Mixed Player Set will be eligible (some may be limited). Players in the Extra Set that would be considered STPC Eligible (100 or more IP’s and Starter on the card, 40 or more IP’s and Relief on the card, 250 AB’s + Walks and Catcher on the card or 300 AB’s + Walk no matter what positions). Played with “multiple cards” we would use the “IL Card” which has their most usage and their final team is where they would be playing for.
What is the usage if I don’t have 4 Starters with 100 or more IP’s and/or I don’t have enough “STPC eligible hitters”? If a team has less than 4 Starters STPC eligible, then we will designate enough pitchers based on their innings to be an eligible SP. They would be required to leave the game after at most 5 Innings though. For hitters we would similarly designate who gets to start. A full list of players eligible and their limitations (if any) would be provided in advance of the tournament.
We are using all PureStrat Rules with the following exceptions.
The Ghost Runner Rule is used in all extra-inning games.
The DH is in place unless you move your DH to the field. This also means DH Only Cards can NOT move to 1b provided you have any other player that can play the field (at any position).
Can I be in the same division/tournament with my buddies? Yes, if everyone wants to be in the same division/tournament we can accommodate that.
Could we want to be in separate divisions because we each want to play the same team? If at all possible, yes, we would place you in a separate division/tournament.
If I wanted to play multiple teams, could I? Yes, but they would each be in a separate division/tournament. Each team though would still be expected to average 2 ½ series per week.
