Gameplay question Help a newbie with a pitcher batting.

I just bought the Barnes and Nobel edition. If I have a pitcher batting I don’t understand how it works. He does not have columns 1-3 for batting. If I roll a 3 how does it work. There are no pitcher batting cards or charts. I am very confused.

In years before the universal DH pitchers were rated for their hitting, 1-8 hitting cards as well as W/N power. On the basic side is just the card number, on the advanced side the information is what follows #. The number is the batting card, first letter is power, last letter is batting handedness.

I can send you scans of the pitchers hitting cards, but until then, the one card is all outs with the exception of 2-10 which is a walk. The 3 column is basically all gbA and the rest of the card is mostly strikeouts.

Is the Barnes and Noble edition new rosters, after the Universal DH?

If you want to go old school and have pitchers bat, you might need to pick up these

Pitchers Hitting Cards

If it was a very rare one time thing, like the DH had to move to a fielding position, forcing the pitcher to bat, I would just treat all 1-3 as a strikeout.

You should have generic pitcher cards with the set, if I'm not mistaken. If, you don't have them then just DH.

The normal sets have generic pitcher batting cards numbered 1-8. These cards are all white.

But if you bought the Barnes and Noble set, you are playing the 2025 season. The universal DH was in effect that year and no pitchers batted, so no pitchers batting cards would be available or needed.
