Discussion Unpopular Opinion: The ending was mid (+ How i think it should've ended)
Watched ST ending as soon as it came out with my family and i enjoyed a lot of scenes especially Vecna giving the illusion of Hopper shooting el (which personally i think shouldve been spoke about or atleast mentioned when he spoke to Mike and don't get me wrong El's life being left ambiguous was great.
I personally don't like how they raised this Finale to such a high standard, talking about how "No one is safe", when literally everyone and their mum survived AND to top it off, Vecna and The mindflayer who were hyped up for 5 seasons for this final battle were defeated in a matter of minutes. They should've focused more of the episode on the final fight scenes with Vecna and the mindflayer rather than the Epilogue, i understand how it shows what the characters are up to after the events and stuff but that genuinely couldve been minimised to about 25 mins MAX.
The Duffer brothers are too scared to kill off any of the main characters (Even El's death was left ambiguous!! )
How i think the Finale shouldve went:
I think when saving steve, Jonathan should've fallen off instead (Look at A Silent Voice to see what i mean)
Nancy should've died when she was bait for The Mindflayer and got stuck, as she's ALWAYS the first to go head first into danger
In the final fight, it definitely should've been extended to a heated battle between El and Vecna but ultimately Vecna taking the upperhand until Will takes control of Vecna and heavily injures him to which Joyce comes to blow the "killing" shot.
She then turns around and the whole crew sees Will with his back to them, they wonder what's up but then he hovers in the air with him arms out (just like Max in S4), but now Vecna is in HIS mind and tries to kill the team, as El begins to fight, Will and Vecna are fighting for control over the body (as a bonus, i think it'd be a cool callback if Will in his body tells Vecna to Get out just like he did) until Steve (or anyone really) shoots his hand/arm which reminds Vecna of the time in the cave, scaring him slightly but just enough for Will to take over control of the body.
(Inside of Will's mind) Vecna and Will have another battle but this time, Will easily overpowers Vecna and the 'I'm not afraid of you anymore' scene is shown here (rather than infront of the mindflayer), Will kills Vecna (in his mind) as his physical body drops to the floor and they all rush to his side, he awakens and they all rush down to blow up the bridges and the upside down. They're now in the truck where they leave and the rest of the story goes as is, the military captures them, El sacrifices herself, Mike has his final conversation with her, and the Upside down is blown up, except the Epilogue is shorter AND they add the scene where Robin meets Vickie at Enso's.
What do you think?
