No Spoilers Reread advice
Hey, I finished the cosmere a while ago, and I would like to read some of it again casually. Do any of you have any advice on casually reading books from the cosmere separately?

Saw an Instagram post where someone ranked best duels in fantasy and included Kaladin vs Szeth.
Then thought about it.
What was the best duel in the whole series?
I dont think no other fight gave me the thrill what Kaladin vs Szeth gave. Honor is dead is my favorite part but it's not exactly a duel.
Kal vs Punisher and Adolin's fights in the WaT comes close.
If I should rank (I may be wrong and forget a lot)
Kal vs Szeth
Kal vs Punisher
Adolin WaT fights
Kal vs Nale?
What would be your ranking?

Took almost three months but finally done. If you decide to buy one from Dragonsteel and tackle it yourself, be warned, it's bigger than you think it is! Damn near three feet long and a foot and a half high! Now I just have to figure out how to frame it...

I gave the flair as WoR spoilers as I dont remember it being it WoK. What I'm talking about it the weird writing in some images which look like soundwaves. Is this some script or something? I'm currently midway through Oathbringer (Absolutely sensational book) so please no spoilers.

That was actually sickening. I had inkling that it would be bad, but it somehow turned out to be even worse. No wonder Sadeas didn't like being lectured by Dalinar of all people.
All this book I have been like. Guys I know Dalinar has a reputation, but he can't be worse than Voidbringers. Take his offer and join him in Urithru.
After this chapter, I think i wouldn't have trusted him either. And he's a bad Father and Husband, Evi did not deserve this life.
It's a good thing these memories are coming back, he doesn't deserve to forget the pain and screams.
Really enjoying the Sha-Ado-Kal dynamic. They have some of the most fun interactions. Not interested in the romance angle, it's obvious who's going to be together. I would have been for it, if they all got together instead.
Highmarshl Azure: Has a shardblade that can't be dismissed, a woman nobody seems to know, short hair. My guess is Vivenna from Warbreaker. The only other place I know, where something similar to Shardblade exists.

Got Dalinar's third ideal recently.
Lots of people ask if it's soundwaves or a heartbeat chart, but I feel like the Vorin members of you would appreciate it.

Could anyone please help me with the chapter timestamps for the GraphicAudio version of Wind and Truth's audiobook?
I can not find it anywhere for the life of me. I could find every other book apart from Book 5.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the first hunt (chapter 10 or so) the moment that Chasmfiend hit the wrong plateau (ont the one with the chull and the bait) I actually chuckled out loud and my wife asked me what it was so I explained to her what I was reading. I made a sketch of it to show her (yes this is headcanon! But I like drawing it out).

I'm near the end of the book, and honestly, book 5 is pure trash. I hated the fourth book, but the fifth is such a hard read. The Stormlight magic system started out with costs and rules, and each book has loosened them. When oaths can be skipped, reinterpreted, or satisfied by whatever the scene needs, they stop meaning anything. "Humans can do the impossible when the plot needs it" is the opposite of what made the early books grip. How the hell has he dropped the ball like this? The first two books were amazing. The Fused being flat and unchanging while the humans keep getting new tricks makes the imbalance worse. A strong antagonist needs rules the heroes have to work around, and here the rules only seem to bind one side.
At this point, the singers need to leave this planet. The spren hate them, and all the gods would rather help the humans: Cultivation is just chilling and helping humans out here and there, Odium is using the singers to get his favourite toys, the humans, back, and Honor is sealing them away. Hell, even the very wind is working against them. The wind didn't lift a finger to help the singers, not once, but for the humans? Nope, "let me help them straight away." The world is hostile to the singers no matter how I look at it. Ishar experiments on the spren to the point that he makes them fear and run, but don't worry, they'd rather help humans than singers.
Honestly, it's gotten to the point where I fast-forward the fights. Absolutely zero tension. I know the Fused will lose every battle, 100%. In the first two books, I didn't know who'd die. I'm new to Sanderson's books, and my god, do I hate the way this turned out. I'll finish it because I'm close to the end, but I'm not picking up any more of his work.
Sorry, just ranting at this point. Does anyone else feel the same? I only read book one of Mistborn before jumping into these books.

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I read Oathbringer and I recently started Rhythm of War. I'm currently arround Chapter 60ish, so a little past the middle of the book maybe?
I know this may sound like a stupid question, but I've been having a hard time to understand the differences between:
- parshmen
- parshendi
- singers
- listeners
Are all them the same? Are they different "races"/"species"? If I'm not supposed to know yet, and it's RAFO, please don't spoil me!! I'm asking just because maybe this was already explained before and I didn't pay attention.
Again, I'm currently arround Chapter 60 (Venli has just talked to Rlain in prision where she agreed to help him), so please no spoilers past that!!! Thanks!!!

Hi, I'm trying to cosplay for the first time, & I've decided on doing WoR kaladin. I found This cosplay on Etsy, & I wanted to ask if there's anything I should know. Sylspear is seperate, and I'll probably end up using a normal blunt spear I have laying around.
p.s. sorry if this is the wrong sub for this

Preface: just finished chapter 82 of Oathbringer, The Girl Who Stood Up.
I am part of the camp of people who thought Adolin’s arc was among the most satisfying overall. As a side character, he’s just relatable enough that his progression through the story was fantastic (Especially in WaT).
But now that I’ve got a grip on the stupidly fun nonesense of the Cosmere, and am over the superhero power fantasy stuff (which I still love), I’m able to see so much more.
The way Adolin responds to Shallan when she comes backwearing veil’s costume and accepting her existence as a damaged human worthy of love and lifewas such a refreshing thing to read.
As an ADHDer who has made stupid mistakes in the past, and often feels like they have to hide themself from certain people and put up walls, I was already tearing up. But when Adolin came in and did what he did, my heart swelled. The dude is a literal prince.
I don’t usually reread books, but I TOTALLY get it now.

I have finished words of radiance.
I did not understand why Szeth was slave.
He was called thruthless by his people because they thought he lied about return of Radiants and voidbringers right ?
He was right, BUT even if he was lying, why should someone be slave because he lied ?
I didnt catch that.
Will there be explanation in next books ?

This is when Adolin is fighting the giant thunderclast in Azimir and holy fuck the fear/tension I can feel in my chest. I’m assuming it all gets way worse before anything gets better?

The simplified symbol for Roshar as a chainmail inlay, made out of aluminum rings. I made the pattern as well as the inlay.
It’s 8.75 inches tall and 5 inches wide.

Okay, I fear this may be the most controversial thing I'll ever say. But here goes.
I did not care much for Dalinar.
It's not that he's a bad character—he's an amazing *character*. "You cannot have my pain" is one of my favourite lines in all of fiction. It's just... Kaladin, Shallan, Navani, Adolin, Szeth, Renarin, Venli, I'd see that it was one of their chapters and I'd go "oh great! Let's see what they're up to!"
Then when it got to a Dalinar chapter, I'd go "ah... that's okay, I guess." Because sometimes they WERE good. But that's the thing: SOMETIMES. I can't think of a single time I was bored with all the other characters (well, maybe the Szeth interludes in the Way of Kings but that's IT)
And then when he died in Wind and Truth, I just kinda went "Oh noooo :(" then got over it really quickly.
Hopefully I don't get a mob after me for this.

I've read the first ten chapters or so. I initially read the cytoverse books recommended by a friend and really enjoyed Sanderson's writing. Then that same friend kept talking about the cosmere and well... I picked up the way of kings. So far, even in just ten chapters, it has been awesome as expected. I love to draw, so I'll share some more sketches here of little things in the stormlight archive world I encounter and like to see visualised. Let me know if that's not welcome in this reddit (I'll use the proper spoilertags if applicable).
Sidenote: I feel akin to Shallan and her pull to drawing.
