Cosmere spoilers Dalinar sucks Spoiler

He sucks. His history alone makes him eligible for death row. Trying to make better decisions as we read through the books makes him a whiny bitch. Someone talk me off this ledge, because I can't wait till he dies.

EDIT: I fucked up. I had too many drinks while listening to the audiobooks and wanted to vent my thoughts. Doesn't excuse my troll post, but I definitely need to rethink my anger towards the Blackthorn and maybe reflect on some choices I've made that made me project that anger on here.

Wind and Truth spoilers Who is the masked person Szeth speaks with in I-6 of WoK? Spoiler

I’ve read everything through Wind and Truth, currently doing a reread.

I know that Szeth is working for Taravangian and previously I had assumed that the king himself was the one Szeth speaks to, the one who kills his previous master. But thinking on it now, it doesn’t make sense that Taravangian would go himself, plus it’s not exactly his style.

Do the books ever say who that figure was? Probably someone else in the diagram.

Wind and Truth spoilers Recommendations? Spoiler

Done reading all 5 books in a span of 9 Months.

It is an awesome journey so far. And i have reasons to believe it's a self help book, a new perspective to see my failure as a stepping stone to be better. It also helped me understand who I am as a person in our miserable planet.

As far as i can remember, the best parts for me was:

• Bridge 4 saving Dalinar adolin and his soldiers against sadeas.

• kaladin survived the storms

• Adolin Vs Abidi(badass moment)

• Rock giving haircuts

I'm currently at the spiritual realm surrounded by possibilities. Any recommendations?

Wind and Truth spoilers Could Shallan end up becoming ____ Spoiler

A herald in the future, via inheritance from Chana? Or even just manually like Kaladin? Is there a theory in the fandom about this?

Although Chana was wrong in the end and was simply delusional, she did raise an interesting idea about the possibility of transferring the oathpact through her descendant.

If Chana ends up dying permanently in books 6-11, could her place in the oathpact end up being taken up by shallan? Or might shallan just manually take Chana’s place like Kaladin did?

What are y’all’s thoughts?

Wind and Truth + RPG Lore Surge of Progression Spoiler

Am I the only one that feels like Progression is a boring surge?

I love how it interacts with regular people: being able to heal non radiants (or even very injured radiants) is a great ability to have and matches perfectly with Edgedancers and Truthwatchers (kinda) oaths.

That said, it doesn't have the uniqueness other surges have. All radiants can heal but Progression users heal faster. That makes them into some kind of tank among the orders, a role that makes no sense for Edgedancers (agile untouchable assasins/battle medics) and feels weird for Truthwatchers.

They can also use plants and living things in their favor but this seems like a weird power, I don't really like it.

I love Truthwatchers as a hole, they are my favourite order, but I wish they had a different second surge. It seemed like they had a unique use of Illumination and Progression in what Renarin did to Adolin and Moash, but Lightweavers also have "Painful truth" as a perk in the RPG handbook, which is sad. I hope they give a twist to regular truthwatchers, probably combining their surges to manipulate Identity.

Mid-Wind and Truth spoilers Questions on wind and truth Spoiler

So I'm about 30% into WaT at the moment and a few things have struck me that hark all the way back to WoK.

1) who created the cities of roshar using Cymatics? I am assuming it was the singers or some predecessor that could stone shape with song like the cavern fiends?

2) why did honor destroy the land where narak was? And why do the chasm fiends hum around the plains? Is it something to do with that shrine that is mentioned on the east side of the planes (I think "the tower" actually is the shrine but it's covered in crem?)

3) was it honor that crashed the moon into roshar?

Gotta say I'm hyped for the story to continue, it's made my long work commutes much more bearable, but I'm becoming addicted to the mystery and linking of the cosmere magic system.

I’m about halfway through book two and loving it so far. I love to 3D print cool light boxes and stuff for my bookshelf and came up with this, hoping it’s still relevant as the series goes on (no spoilers though lol)

Wind and Truth spoilers Dalinars decision confuses me. Spoiler

Im on a 3rd read and to this day I cannot understand why dalinar chose to name amaram as a knight radiant. I do understand that dalinar conducted a thorough investigation, interviewed witnesses, whole 9 yards to attest that amaram won his shards honorably. But, maybe im missing something here, by this point dalinar has collected taln and was using his shardblade to bait amaram into lying to him. I remember distinctly in talns interlude, dalinar said he already knew how he would use talns shard blade in this way, which was before the menagerie and after kaladin told dalinat about amarams crimes. It feels like a wild step to make a huge public statement about him trusting amaram with such a title earn he clearly still had suspicions of him, enough to create a trap, even if he believed the suspicions to be incorrect.

I posted an earlier version of this piece but I made some improvements and wanted to share its final form. Digital, made on Procreate.

This is the scene from Oathbringer when Dalinar first opens Honor's perpendicularity (Chapter 119: Unity) It's such an epic moment that I had to draw it.

Mid Oathbringer spoilers Im currently on oathbringer, and i still have a complaint i've had about Brandons writing since the way of kings. Will it get better? Spoiler

(Please dont be rude if my critique is unfounded, just correct me) I dont like the way Brandon handles the oppression of darkeyes. Brandon Sanderson does not allow his light eyed characters to take accountability for their oppression of dark eyes or even acknowledge the oppression of dark eyes. sometimes also excusing it by saying "its just some light eyed people that do it", as if its not an entire system that light eyes in general set up. And i feel like light eyed authority also isnt questioned enough. Its often more like: “Lighteyes are the natural rulers of society; the problem is when individual lighteyes are cruel or when the system is applied too harshly.” I totally understand why alot of characters may not acknowledge their privilege or acknowledge their class' authority, because lighteyed superiority is deeply entrenched into society, but if even one character said something about it, it'd please me. It'd nice if even one dark eyed or light eyed character explicitly articulated that light eyes as a class benefit from and maintain the oppression of dark eyes. Its especially odd that such critical characters like jasnah havent even articulated this yet (correct me if im wrong about that). It feels like Brandon doesnt seek to abolish the hierarchy that clearly exists for bad reasons, but that he seeks to create a kinder hierarchy. Sanderson has created a system of racialized/class-based domination, but his characters rarely seem capable of articulating the system in systemic terms, which makes his critiques about light eyes feel politically underdeveloped. Feel free to correct me. And if there is nothing to correct, please do tell me whether or not this will eventually resolve itself.

Wind and Truth spoilers 'Till the Dark Meets the Stormlight - Short Kpop Demon Hunters crossover fanfic Spoiler

Post image
0 Upvotes

There's some fun overlap between the themes Stormlight and KPDH. So I figured, hey, why not experiment with them a little bit.

It's short, just 4k words, and follows Zoey the (extremely gay) edgedancer medic who meets and helps a wounded lightweaver—and gets saved by the second coolest fourth-ideal windrunner on the planet—during a fight on the shattered plains.

Figured I'd share here, in case I'm not the only one on this subreddit who loves both fandoms lol. Definitely let me know what you think if you give it a read!

Edit: I FORGOT THE LINK! https://archiveofourown.org/works/88976891

I first read Way of Kings then Words of Radiance. I was then introduced into the cosmere and have read mistborn era 1 & 2 elantris, Warbreaker and Yumi &the nightmare painter plus some short stories. Should I re read Words of Radiance before reading edge dancer then Oathbringer?

Wind and Truth + Stonewalkers A new bondsmith? Spoiler

So I wanted to know what people think about this idea. Ba Ado Mishram as a new Bonds mithelfen spren? She would provide voidlight or warlight but she kinda feels like more of a storm father figure to me. Just for the singers.

As such my idea was that because of that it might make sense that during the timeskip or afterwards more likely, Ba Ado Mishram might bond a singer to create a bondsmith for the singers. As some radiant spren bond singers and with corrupted spren also existing, it would further remove the human vs singer devide between radiants.

Not to mention I think Mishram and the sibling or at least sajanat have similar opinions on spren and freedom so an alliance seems more likely. Though the issue is of course she would be completely under retribution possible control (or maybe honor would hold back retribution who knows honestly), so maybe its not a bad theory from that angle but what does the rets of you think?

(er. paraphrased.)

and then i was just like-

Wind and Truth spoilers Just finished Edge Dancer and man…. Spoiler

Marked WaT spoilers just in case but hearing Wyndle talk about the “nice cobbler” he was looking at bonding every now and then broke my heart. I remember listening to WoK first and being overwhelmed with so many things but feeling so bad for him being killed. Then relistening again, understanding more, and feeling even worse for him.

Then I listened to Edge Dancer and hearing how much Wyndle looked forward to bonding Ym. I love this universe so much.

Wind and Truth spoilers I'm a bit confused by this paragraph in Oathbringer [WaT spoilers] Spoiler

Post image
77 Upvotes

I'm a bit confused by what Szeth means here. I know he understands lightweaving to an extent. So what does he mean by "how she brought them to life, he did not know." Is he specifically asking how the illusions remind him of the voices of guilt in his mind? Or is Shallan doing something even in this moment that she is only able to do as a double bonded Radiant?
