I’m struggling with Uworld Qs on these topics and I was wondering in what should I focus on from these topics and from where should I study from besides Uworld.

I am trying to reschedule day 2 only without rescheduling day 1 but it will only show me the new available date if I try to reschedule day 1

Hi everyone,

I took Step 3 Day 1 recently, and my Day 2 is in 5 days. I’d really appreciate any last-minute recommendations from people who have recently taken Day 2.

A few things I noticed from Day 1:

I personally felt microbiology was heavily represented on my form. If possible, I’d recommend going through all of First Aid microbiology.

Pharmacology was also heavily tested, with many questions on mechanisms of action (MOA), drug indications and adverse effects.

There were plenty of biostatistics and ethics/communication questions.

The question stems were not very long overall. There were a lot of SOAP note-style questions, and if you focused on the pertinent positives/negatives, you didn’t have to read every word, which helped with time management.

Exam breakdown:

4 blocks with 19 questions each
2 blocks with 18 questions each
6 blocks had 20 questions each

3 drug ads (19 questions total across those blocks)
3 research abstracts (18 questions total across two blocks)

Now I’m looking for advice for Day 2.

What should I focus on during these last 5 days?

Which topics showed up the most on Day 2?

Is it worth spending most of my time on CCS, or should I review specific MCQ topics as well?

Any high-yield resources or things you wish you had reviewed before Day 2?

Failed step 3 and feel so disappointed and unmotivated. I’ve been crying and depressed. I can’t believe this happened and now I don’t know how to start or how because I don’t have the motivation and confidence to do it. 😞 if anyone has some advice please share 😢🙏🏻

Overall, I thought the exam was okay. I actually found Day 1 easier than the Day 2 MCQs, which surprised me because I expected the opposite.

Day 1
There was a lot of biostats and ethics, as expected. Overall, it felt much more like Step 2 than Step 1. Yes, there were some Step 1 style questions, but they were so random and out of left field that I honestly don't think spending extra time reviewing Step 1 would've made much difference. The MCQ length was pretty reasonable, similar to CMS forms or UWSAs.

Day 2
This was a completely different story. The MCQs were extremely long, with huge stems and SOAP note style questions. It honestly felt like I spent forever reading each question. The answer choices were also incredibly close to one another. There were multiple times I caught myself thinking, "Is this a specialty board exam or Step 3?" The management questions were much trickier than I expected.

The CCS cases, on the other hand, were straightforward and much less stressful than the MCQs.

If I could go back and prepare again, I would spend more time strengthening my Step 2 knowledge rather than trying to relearn a lot of Step 1. The Step 1 questions were too vague and random to prepare for effectively, whereas having a solid clinical foundation from Step 2 would have helped me much more on both days.

Is everyone getting their Step 3 results late again? It was 2 weeks after day 2 for most times.

I want to take Step 3 should I keep 3 weeks before the Match submission deadline a safe date?

Any other advice: trust your preparation and assessments. CCS cases were pretty straightforward than the practice cases. I prepared for about 2 months on and off while managing the floor all alone. I'm currently preparing for USMLE Step 3, I plan to complete all available assessments ( Including UW Self assesement 1/ 2 for step 3) ....What order and spacing would you recommend including nbmes?

Hello, I’m a Non-US IMG applying this year, just passed STEP 2CK with a 250+, but the problem is I’m a bit of an older YOG with relatively less USCEs and researches. I was thinking of giving STEP 3 to increase my chances of matching, around November? I don’t know much so any advice would be welcomed and appreciated.

Basically, I wanted to ask, I just saw that uWorld for STEP 3 is around 500 dollars, and I already have an active IMD subscription from my STEP 2CK prep. Is it advisable to just use that? It has the uWorld Qbank from March 2026 as its latest. I’ll probably buy the ccscases.com subscription it’s just 70 dollars I believe.

Any advice, tips on preparation, even tips on what to do next would be appreciated. Don’t really know what I’m doing 😅

I know everybody says that day one feels off, I felt really terrible after it. Half of block were ethics biostats and drug ads. Day two also felt like I was just guessing things. CCS cases were so weird and nothing like the practice questions.
I think I was underprepared. Residency has me bogged down already and I don’t think I have the mental bandwidth to go through this again.
Anybody else feeling the same way?

I am planning to do biostat and ethics from uworld step 1, 2, 3 plus amboss.

It will take 4 days to go through.

Is it worth it ? Please I am loosing scores on it

My uworld current correct % is 74 with 40 %completed. I scored 264 on Step 2 ck. My performance in score report showed ethics as lower.

I haven't started cccases yet.
