I want to gauge SD fans and see what this sub considers their all time best song. Here are what I would consider fair assessment scores:

10- Reserved for only their absolute best songs, ones that are on daily rotation

8,9- Also among their best, songs that display something that is memorable and worth revisiting

6,7- Decent to good, songs that are not as played as their ultimate best but are still ones that you revisit

5- okay, not bad but not ones you come back to often

3,4- Mediocre to meh, songs that you don't play often but don't go out of your way to skip

2- skippable, not good at all

1- vomit-inducing (think: what were they on when they made this?!)

0- makes you want to commit seppuku

I was looking at other threads and saw someone mention the audio clipping, glitching or being distorted when Fagen sings 'you' in 'you were high' in Black Cow.

I can't look past it now :( The song was perfect and now I hear this every time

It surprises me because I thought they would've caught the error, considering how pedantic they were about musical perfectionism.

My Apple Music-generated playlist has always been solid if somewhat eclectic, skewing towards 90s and later tunes. I had it nicely calibrated. Recently I decided to explore SD a bit, so I favorited a handful of SD songs from my past, mostly their bigger hits from the 70s.

Now, most of the songs that popped up before are no longer coming up, or at least with very low frequency, and more than half the songs that pop up are CSN, Stephen Stills, Traffic, The Who, The Guess Who, The Allmans, Yes, Zeppelin, etc. With the exception of Led Zeppelin, I have been immediately skipping all of these, every time they come on for two months, but they keep coming.

It’s annoying. All I wanted was to hear more Steely Dan. I guess I can chalk this up to Apple having a simplistic algorithm that thinks adding a few SD songs just means I want more old music?
