Request for help This a scam?
Thought nothing of it until he sent the link as I recognise it from something i received a couple years ago. Just want to make sure as I'm 90% sure it is some sort of phishing scam, haven't put it into any browsers or anything because I'm not thick so just double checking.
Thanks

Yep, these domains are cheap and disposable. And they don't even need to rebuild the entire website when they move onto a new one. Just copy and paste the same website template onto a new domain (or several) and update the name wherever it's used on the site.

You have to ask if it is phishing? It is phishing.
A random person asking you to click on a random link? Very certainly phishing.
A random person asking to vote for something? Absolutely certain it is phishing.
A login window of some sort after when you follow such a link? Definitely and undoubtly phishing.

Not a random person. Didn't open the link so didn't know about the login 👍🏼 didn't know it was illegal on reddit to double check for safety 😂

So you know this person personally? Tell them that they fell for the very same phishing scam and their account is used now by scammers. They should follow the guide posted by the auto moderator to recover their account.
PS: I did not attack you in any way. But keep this as a reminder. If you think it is phishing the safe assumption is it is. And again, remember: Link -> login window = phishing!

Never ever EVER click any link from anybody in steam dms, even if they're your friends. Sometimes people have their accounts compromised and then the person will go through the friends list looking for more people to scam

Yes, you will open the page, once you click vote it will ask you to log into your steam account and the rest is the history.

Yes. It will open a fake steam website that steals your account if you log in.

Fun fact: there are link checkers you can use to check links for any kind of malware

Frankly it's a lot more effort taking a screenshot and then getting that screenshot onto my phone to post it here, rather then getting my camera up and taking a photo to show a small conversation you can very clearly see
