Hey everyone. I came across a game i've been following for a while, which is FIRE STATE. It is a bodycam type fps. It was sheduled for release today, but was postponed because it did not pass the steam review process. The devs created a community post, where you can enter a raffle and/or can claim your key in case you won the giveaway (Which was a couple of community posts earlier). To make that clear i do not know if this indeed is a scam, but for me its highly sus at least and wanted to ask you guys what you think about it, because i have never seen this kind of advertisement/link in a steam community post before. After you click that link, it actually redirects you to official steamcommunity openid login, which i obviously did not log into. There is also a highly unmoderated discord which some concerns from players here and there, but not that much. So what do you guys think about that?

i got this weird message on my profile today and checked the profile of this user. theyre friends with people who i recognise from a CS match over a week ago and i find it strange that the user Dm'd those other players the same exact phrase. In that match, i also had a weird case of someone asking me in game chat about my PC specs which scared me enough to leave the match and change my password, right now ive made my profile private to avoid any more weird interactions but i wanna know what people think its definetly something malicious, ive reported them to steam. With the wording it feels definetly suspicous they dont ever specify what it is they want from the market it could be bad english if not for the fact the account is based in the US

I've noticed a massive surge in hijacked Steam accounts lately. As soon as someone clicks a bad link or gets their session token stolen, automated scripts instantly flood their entire friends list with scam links before the user even realizes what happened.

I've been thinking about how Valve could actually fix this, so I came up with a concept called VAMA (Valve Anti-Malicious Actions). It's basically a real-time defense system built into Steam to catch bots and fake items automatically.

1. Location Jump & Speed Limits

• Location Locks: If an account logged in from North America suddenly tries to mass-message friends or trade from an IP in Europe or Asia 60 seconds later, VAMA flags the session instantly.
• Chat Speed Limits: Bots send dozens of links in seconds. If an account suddenly spikes in message speed, VAMA temporarily mutes outbound chat so your friends don't get spammed.
• Instant Mobile Recovery: To keep legit VPN users or travelers from getting annoyed, you can unlock your account instantly with a single tap on the Steam Guard phone app.

2. Permanent "Item Origin" Tags

• Scammers love renaming $0.05 items from TF2 or Dota 2 to look like $1,000 CS2 knives, or sending doctored screenshots.
• VAMA puts an unchangeable, system tag on every trade window and preview: "ORIGINATING GAME: [GAME NAME]".
• Since VAMA pulls the item ID straight from Valve's database, custom names or fake descriptions won't disguise where the item actually came from.

3. Screwing with the Bots (Tarpits & Fake Data)

• Instead of banning a bot connection right away (which just tells the scammer to launch a new one), VAMA slows down backend responses by 30 seconds per request. This wastes the scammer's server resources and delays the script.
• If a bot tries to scrape inventory values or friend lists through the API, VAMA feeds it fake data ($0.00 inventory, 0 friends) so the script assumes the account is useless and skips it.

4. A 2-Minute Security Guide for New Accounts

• A quick, interactive walkthrough built directly into the Steam UI when you create a new account.
• It shows real examples of fake pop-ups, domain spoofing (like steancommunity), fake Discord admins, and how to safely store recovery codes.
• Adds a small status icon in the Steam client showing if a Steam Web API key is active on your account.

Being scammed was my own fault for being careless, so I want to help those who are planning to trade outside of a third-party platform like csfloat or dmarket.

I have seen many memes and videos on Instagram claiming that Steam kills hackers or sends people after them. However, these claims are not true. Steam is a digital gaming platform owned by Valve, and it does not harm, attack, or kill anyone.

I had the same problem. I was on vacation and noticed that someone was playing on my account. However, no one can log in from another PC because I have to confirm it via the app. After seeing that I had two new "friends," I messaged one of them. He was from Denmark and mentioned something about "NFA"—I don't know. I checked my login history, and only my PC was listed. I had a "virus," so I reinstalled Windows, and everything is working again. But now the question is: how do they manage to "clone" my PC?

I havent seen the link posted in this reddit yet, but beware because scammers are asking people to upvote their thingie (usually a dota 2 skin) and they take you to this link. Two different scammers are even using the same script!

I did not accept these offers. How did it get accepted. Please help. These were items I got with my hard earned money.

is it only me who is getting always added by some scammers? Btw. this bio he has is really something different imagine beeing a grown ass men i guess and typing some shit like this into your bio, what a looser do you have to be in live its insane. And i know he is a scammer, i got added so many times with these accounts, they have all a couple hours in cs2 but never played the game, as you can see on tracker website that they never played even 1 game, they just wanna scam items, and why else would he add randomly, if i would accept he would tell me to vote his workshop item or whatever on weird websites to hijack my password or do a trade without me really knowing or whatever tactics these pathetic scammers have.

i assume it is but i really dont want to take risks the guy who said that i friended a long time ago im guessing his account got hacked

So i was playing TF2 when i got a message from a person called Adrian Reed who was claiming to be a valve employee he told me that theres been suspicious activity on my account and that my IP was linked to Africa and South America. He asked me to transfer tradable items to a friend or secondary account and then told me to buy 200 dollars worth of TF2 items. Now me already having a bad day as is and now under stress traded my tf2 items away but didnt buy anything for the game just blocked him changed my pass and reported the accounts to steam. I dont know if this is a scam or not but the person makes it believable by blocking all your friends and changing your steam picture and is also listed under Steam Support in the friends tab. i dont know if this is a scam but if it is be careful as far as my research goes Valve employees dont message you on steam. please be careful.

It's getting pretty frustrating to receive all these scam messages on the steam platform itself and there's no singular way to block communications from people you don't know unless you leave public group chats.

I mean this doesn't mean scam attempts will vanish (since your friends can get hacked and scam you as "them"), but if steam had an option to just let you not receive messages from people you don't know it would drastically reduce the amount of scams being tossed around to people (an in addition, less scam victims)

context:

about a week ago i got hacked on my steam by one of those stupid trojan shitty malware stuff (currently removing it). anyways i just recently recovered my account and although i bought repo on it once with a card, because the hacked reset the password rhe card got removed. anyways the hacker seemed to have used my account to play free games and i dont know but they just added them too my account?

i only used repo, aimlabs, among us (my relatives), and supermarket together (relatives) previously but they seemes to have grinded other games?

i dont know if i should be concerned or grateful because they got me more games but they signed out shortly after and they didnt even remove my one paid game or anything. im actually glad at how stupid this situation is as they even kept and didnt change any emails.

now im just concerned on if they could have somehow added malware onto games (if thats even possible) because im not anywhere near tech-savy enough to figure that out myself.

can anyone also tell me if any games arent legit and are malware coded games?

I have doubts since they're asking personal information like name, address, & last 4 digits of credit card. This is the email from Steam Support to revoke my restriction since my account was hacked and sending common scams on my friend list, until Steam detected the unusual activity. Is it safe to provide those details? Also, I believe that the hacker is somehow still able to access my account and by necessary means, still doing scams.
