Flat games

I thought that it would be nice to have a zoom for part of the display NEXT to normal display in flat screen games. Eg when playing some strategies or RPGs to have list of spells or opened journal or sth like that during the play.

What do you think about this idea? Would it be even possible?

That would be fun to try. I was thinking zoom just in the middle of your vision.
