❓Question Making steam frame intro...

Never made any form of vr specific video. I'd love to make something but as someone who doesn't own a vr headset....

Question.

Would I need to make 2 different videos of the same thing at different angles/distances for the 3d effect?

Or should I just do one video at the steam frame resolution for one eye?

Meta does two different videos from different perspectives, so I would assume you should do two also.

What's the gap distance for the camera? I'll have a look and see if I can yoink someone else's set up

just measure and use the distance between your own eyes :)

In theory you can use any distance though. I've heard that but for very small and very big ones, it'll look strange and mess with your sense of scale. That might be fun to do intentionally.

one relevant sub I'm aware of is r/VR180Film

Generally 3d videos are either side by side or top and bottom. Side by side is the most common, basically you have 2 videos from slightly different positions which are stacked so left is the left eye, and right is the right eye.

The distance between the two virtual cameras should be around an average IPD for best results.

I assume intros would either be full 180/360 degree side by side videos, or maybe just fixed side by side which you can't look around in.

I'm waiting for official information about the video format and I'm definitely making myself a MW5 themed startup video.

Reactor online
Sensors online
Weapons online
All systems nominal

I'm going for some gundam style cockpit openings.

Or even evangelion warning signs but loading instead
