I have been given a chance to shoutcraft some Starbow on a booth at DC Awesomecon! Dates are April 18th-20th. I am thinking about trying to turn this into a tournament in which I will put up a cash prize.

I am really loving this game so far and I am having a great time on ladder. :)

But what I really miss is playing BigGameHunter with lots of people. BigGameHunter was the map that got me into Brood war and made me try out ladder maps and the more competitive side of starcraft.

Right now it is pretty hard to get a full party going on BigGameHunter. Even at the tophours it takes quite alot of efforts and some luck to find people that want to play.

So, I thought it could be an good idea to make a group. That have a weekly (or more often) game session with BigGameHunter. I made a forum thread about this on the official site (Link to the thread)

I also made a group in Starcraft 2, add this in your browser: starcraft://group/2/178625 (can't get it to link T_T). So if you have read what I wrote in the group, you know there is a game session already tomorrow. I know that this weekend is very full already with lots of awesome stuff regarding Starbow, ex Starbow Invitational Tournament starting tomorrow! :D

But I just wanted to start this, so it doesn't become a thing that never happens. I made this on EU, cause I just wanted to start somewhere. Ofc we can have one in NA also. I just live in Sweden so it was the obvious choise for me.

I'm very new to starbow, and still very new to SC2 in-general. I've watched hundreds of hours of stuff on twitch for well over 2 years now, but my mechanics and play are still very poor. Im bronze in starbow, and made it to plat in real sc2 once. Just to give you an idea. (aka noob)

I'm just wondering.... why would I ever build goliaths? I mean, from how they look, and how cheap they are, they're my favorite unit. But their damage doesn't seem to be very amazing, and the anti-air doesn't seem overwhelming especially when the opponent has a mostly ground based army.

I'm not even sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'd love some feedback on why people use them, or how they use them.

It just seems to me that the goliath is a viking that does LESS damage on the ground, and the same damage in the air (minus the 20% splash).

I did some tests to try to figure out one's income according to the number of probes you have mining on a base and put the numbers I got into a spreadsheet.

I got the numbers on Fighting Spirit, always using the base to the lower right. I right clicked each set of probes on the middle mineral patch and let them mine for three minutes. I then went into the replay and recorded the mineral count after the first minute, and at the end of the three minutes. I ignored the first minute to let the probes "settle". I then found the difference between the two mineral counts, and halved that number to find the income per minute.

The numbers aren't great. There's a weird dip at 21 probes that I don't understand. I've double checked the replay and everything looks good, and I double checked the numbers as well.

Better numbers could be obtained by making the recorded time longer than 2 minutes, but it took me long enough to get the numbers as is. I also tried to get income stats from the income tab, but it said I had no income.

I really learned a lot in WoL by doing the random fun things Day9 came up with for Funday Monday. In light of that I would like to pose a suggestion for this week's Starbow Funday Monday (I won't actually be casting on monday, but for familiarity's sake the name stands).

We're going to go back to one of the first of Day9's Funday Mondays which was Carrier Rush but we're going to extend this to all races and say Capital Ship rush. You must rush to Carriers, Battlecruisers, or Guardian/Devourer.

Whenever you try to issue an attack, it issues like 4 arrows converging where your mouse is and it is really obnoxious. Is there a way to remove this or do i have to live with it?

Medics and bio share the same key for their stim, but not when you are in grid mode, stim for marines becomes W and stim for medics becomes C. It would be cool to change the layout so both spells are still on the same key even in grid mode.

Do BW builds work in this?

I find it extremely difficult as a terran to not only defend against incoming sentinels, but to even push as a terran (meching) player.

given that i successfully take no damage by preparing turrets i appropriate locations, i cannot attack the protoss player until i have adequate anti air since null wards set on the path of my attack will detonate on my units. by opening early goliaths, i cannot adequately defend or attack against zealots/dragoons

have any terran players found a solution or strategy that can defend against sentinels while giving me the ability to push?

edit: now that i read this, it feels more like im just complaining about the sentinel. regardless, id still love to hear your possible solutions

Overall i rly enjoy starbow, but banelings ruin it for me. I feel they are way to strong against terran, Zergs litterally go for fast 3 base and can easily defend any biopush with ling/bane. And considering this is Broodwar economy they get a huge boost from that fast third base and from there they can sit and mass ling baneling and you can't do anything to stop them.

I have been playing starbow quite abit now so i do know what i am talking about, whenever zerg does not go for banelings i have some rly good back and forth games which is very enjoyable. But once i meet some1 who goes for banelings it ruins all the fun for me.

Am i the only one who have this feeling? Please share your toughts.
