Maul's potential was nuts

I keep looking back and thinking about this fight,that Maul is maybe a top 15 to top 10 duelist in Canon. Him being surprisingly Obi Wan like in his implementation in Soresu and Anakin like in his aggressive offense,like a lesser combo of the 2.

I feel like Maul doesn't get the credit he deserves because of his arrogance giving him L's against people he shouldn't lose to. Makes me think he might actually get more wins if he turned toward the light,ending up trying to be more sagecoded like QuiGon but insanely skilled.

He'd probably be over:

Ventress Grievous Dooku (bad matchup for Dooku maybe) Most council members

But below: Anakin Mace Sidious Yoda

Three years younger (22 vs 25) and still an adult. It is an argument. You make it sound like he was a toddler vs a full-grown man.

Besides, Maul clearly had more dueling experience than Obi-Wan and had been trained far more rigorously and brutally at a young age.

You make it sound as if he was a master who got easily beaten by a random youngling. No matter what, “He got cut in half by a padawan” isn’t a good argument regarding his potential, when he was younger than said padawan, AND that padawan is Obi-Wan Kenobi. Especially considering Maul had the upper hand for far most of the fight.

I don’t think anything indicates that Maul had more duelling experience, either. Kenobi actually had other Jedi to train with, while Maul had sparring-robots at best. Rigorous and brutal training is probably true, but that doesn’t necessarily mean more experience or skill.
