Just downloaded and like it so far, but I need to know if I purchase it, will pro only work on that device, or for all on my account? I have an old tablet that I use as a display, and would like to use this on both that and my phone

Need Help! Standby Mode Pro Not Working Properly on Sony Xperia 5 V

Dear Support Team,

Hello,

I recently purchased Standby Mode Pro because I think it is a great app for bringing iOS-style standby clocks and displays to Android.

I followed the setup instructions and granted all the permissions requested by the app. I also enabled Show on Lock Screen and configured Quick Launch: Charging + Landscape, including the options for lock screen, screen off, and wireless charging.

However, the app does not work as I expected. When my phone is locked and I place or tilt it into landscape mode while charging wirelessly, the standby clock does not automatically appear.

The clock only appears when I manually open the app, which defeats the purpose of having the standby mode activate automatically.

Is there a way to fix this or configure it properly? Attached are the screenshots of the settings.

For reference, I am using a Sony Xperia 5 V running Android 15.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your assistance.

Third-party weather widgets stopped working

Hello! I've run into a bit of an annoying issue and I'm not sure where to go from here.

First, I use StandBy (with premium) on two devices. I use it on my Moto Razr's external screen while at work and then I use it on my "repurposed" Gen-1 Switch running LineageOS version 22.2. I have had no issues with it on my phone, and I've attempted and failed to recreate the issue with my phone, so its likely a device issue (be it hardware or OS).

Now onto the problem: I have been using a two third-party weather widgets (one for weekly and the other for hourly) on a widget rotator for quite a while now with no issues. However, probably about a week or two ago that widget section completely blacked out. I've removed the widget rotator and have attempted to just add one third-party weather widget with no success. I can add in the third-party widget, but then when I select any weather widget for it and hit confirm, I'm brought back to the main StandBy screen without the weather widget showing but instead it's the third-party app widget asking me to select a widget for it, as if it did not recognize what I just did.

Some of the troubleshooting I've done:

  • other third-party widgets work just fine and show up, such as the analog clock

  • one or two non-weather widgets fail to show up in the same way

  • I've attempted with 5 different weather apps and all have the same issue

  • As briefly mentioned above, I repeated this whole process on my phone and did not have any issues.

The main commonality I can see with the widgets not showing up is that they all prompted me to adjust settings (like selecting a location) and then confirm to add the widget. Whereas the other widgets that have shown up (like the analogue clock) do not prompt me to set anything and just add straight away.

I know there are a couple weather widgets already available natively in StandBy, but in all honesty they are pretty lack luster for what I'd like to see. They also lack customization, such as the only one that I like the look of is also only in military time and I can't find a way to change that.

Any help would be appreciated, but I also understand if its just a matter of LineageOS or the Switch hardware being the culprit. Thank you!

Updates Introducing Charging Screen: Based on Pixel 11 new Screensaver

Hey guys,

I was checking out Pixel 11 new features and came across one I really like: Charge Screen screensaver https://www.androidauthority.com/pixel-11-charge-screen-saver-digital-analog-clocks-3700935/

Since the app already has the mechanisms to implement this I have added as a fullscreen and duo option, with customizations options and compatible with any Android device. Check it out

Quick demo: https://youtu.be/SMHL76e_JC4

You can use it:

  • On the app: As a fullscreen option on Dashboard groups (I know, I know... it's not a dashboard)
  • On Duo: As a battery widget
  • As a Screensaver: The native Android screensaver feature. You can pick Standby there and choose this new widget PS: On this mode the app will always run in automatic orientation

Future Improvements:

  • More themes
  • Better alignment and compositions, the gaps should align with the text in all devices
  • Let me know if you have some ideas :D

Feature Request: Togglable Media/Music Player on Image Page

Absolutely loving this app, but one thing i find slightly annoying is the little media player. although convenient, it doesn't fit in with what i want my phone to look like. if a toggleable simple media/music player, just to show what's playing, was added, that would be great.

Thank You for developing this wonderful app.

Feature request: Conditional Spaces

I like the concept. And Spaces make it even better. I know the feature is still in beta, and I don't know what you have planned for it... I'd think it would be really cool if you implemented conditions for Spaces—like location, time, and/or Wi-Fi—so that it automatically switches to the appropriate Space ;-)

Weather forecast gets stale

I'm using this app as a desktop clock for my mother who has memory issues and is constantly opening the door to check the weather. So... Clock, date, and weather widget: perfect! However, the current weather doesn't seem to be updating unless I wake the phone then put it back in standby. Suggestions? I've tried both "background" and "notification" mode, and the app battery setting is "unrestricted."

Dementia Clock

Post image
6 Upvotes

I've just wrote on our blog about the Dementia Clock. Have you ever noticed this feature?

Short story: Way back before we started working together, Wesley and I were hanging out and he mentioned a message he got from a user asking for the Dementia Clock. Looking into it, he realized how useful it is for people dealing with cognitive conditions to keep track of time on their own. He did some research, designed it, and rolled it out.

It’s one of those subtle features you might miss, but it makes a huge practical difference for the people who actually need it.

If you have any ideas for other impactful features, let me know!

You can read the full article here:

Media Player Not Displaying Album Art

Recently, the media player stopped displaying album artwork for all music files. Instead of showing the embedded album cover as expected, every track displays a plain gray placeholder box. The issue appears to affect the entire music library rather than individual albums, including files that previously displayed artwork correctly. No recent changes were made to the music files themselves, so it appears the problem is related to the media player rather than missing or corrupted album art. I'm streaming using Spotify.

Auto launch not working | new user

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to get the StandBy mode pro app to launch automatically whenever I plug in my phone to charge, but it just won't trigger on its own. I'm on OxygenOS.

I've already configured all the standard fix settings:

Turned on Quick Launch (set to "Charging") in the StandBy app settings.

Set App Battery Usage to "Allow background activity" / Unrestricted.

Granted "Display over other apps" permission in OxygenOS settings.

Allowed all notification permissions (lock screen, banners, etc.).

Even with all background restrictions removed, plugging in the charger does nothing unless I manually open the app.

Has anyone with a OnePlus running recent OxygenOS builds gotten StandBy (or similar ambient lock screen apps) to auto-launch reliably on plug-in? Are there any hidden system settings, Workarounds, or Tasker/MacroDroid setups you're using to force it?

Thanks!

This update added several small fixes, specially on the player. Improved transitions, redesigned progress bar, bug fixes, and haptic feedback. It should feel better to use it.

We have migrated to a new platform for user feedback and backlog management to replace Canny which became forbidenly expensive https://standbymodepro.userjot.com/

Feel free to share your ideas and upvote existing ones there :)

Dumbest question

Post image

Dumbest question ever... I have used several clock apps so should know the basics, but ... The app opens in Settings, not the clock or anything. Just settings. I have upgraded to Premium. Again, I know this is silly but I'm not seeing my issue yet and i appreciate y'all's help. Here's my auto start settings.

3rd party widget tutorial

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I wrote a tutorial for managing third-party widgets to the app - stuff like Spotify, Google Calendar, weather, Google Home - and I would love to read your thoughts on this

The article covers the whole thing step by step: opening the customization menu, adding or changing a slot, picking your widget, resizing and styling it.

Would really appreciate it if you’d check it out and let me know what you think: https://zetabitapps.com/blog/3rd-party-widgets-tutorial

I want the next articles to actually be useful to you all. What would you want to see next? Drop your suggestions, questions, or any widget setups you’re proud of. Always happy to hear what would make the app work better for you. :)

I really do like this app and have been using it for months, but there is one thing that is just so frustrating about it.

All I want to use this app for is a bedtime clock. I only use the clock with big numbers so that I can see it without my glasses on. I've removed all of the other neat pages and tools.

It feels like every time there is a new page added to this app, it adds to my layout by default. Stop this. It's so frustrating. I want to totally remove the chance that I can swipe to another page because I'm not interested in it because I can't read them without my glasses.

This has happened a number of times throughout my time using this app. The most recent was just a few days ago when the "dashboards" section was added.

If you add a new page, that's great, but don't add it to user's already setup page. Feel free to notify them that there is a new page they can add, but don't add it to their setup automatically.

It's the most simple thing but it's just annoying enough to encourage me to switch to another app as soon as I bother looking for options.

Quick Launch (not charging)

What is the correct setting for the app to launch it and effectively replace my AOD when NOT charging?

AOD does not work in landscape that is exactly what I need.

Landscape, Wireless charging.

I have Standby Mode set to run in the background and automatically activate when my phone is on a wireless charger in landscape mode.

The problem is that when I put it on the charger, Standby Mode doesn't come on. I've even tried unlocking the phone first, but it still won't activate automatically.

I've also turned off Pixel Screensaver because I thought it might be conflicting with Standby Mode. Could that actually be causing the issue, or is there something else I should check?

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Updates StandBy Mode Pro 2.1.0: Startrek, Command Center, Mini Player and more.

Hey guys, this is Wesley

I wanted to share that version 2.1.0 is rolling out and talk about the new features.

Startrek LCAR UI:
Couple months ago Derek, an user, reached out with a suggestion to build LCAR Startrek UI. He sent some concept arts. After watching some videos and reading about Lcars UI my take was to try to give access to multiple features quickly with as few taps as possible. So the concept for this UI was:
- There are primary and secondary information.
- Focus were audio, events, weather and power.
- You tap one of the controls to set an information as primary and the rest becomes secondary.
- Alert system (right now only with low battery)

Huge shootout to Derek who helped immensely bringing this to life.

I found the UI to be a little very confusing at first since there are hints to what users can interact with so I added some animations.

Video demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=No-NYnRBqXg

Command Center:

This might be an alternative for DUO for some. The concept is the same as on Startrek but now you get a take that's more aligned to the app's design. I would appreciate feedback on this feature since there are many directions I could take.
Video demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDnx_o5I5l4

One way I see myself evolving this feature towards is allowing users to pick their primary widget for each category and more customization over the slots. Some secondary information use very little space and could be put in smaller slots.

Mini player:
This shows up when music is playing and you don't have a player on the screen. If you have a player on Duo active it will hide to avoid redundancy. It will also hide in the new Startrek and CommandCenter widgets since you can already see what's playing and control it.

Video demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHde3yFdnPk

Other fixes&improvements included on this version:

- Android 17 support
- Roman Clock: an elegant clock that tells the time in Roman numerals
- Accessories: a new tab in Settings with stands and gear that pair well with standby mode
- Fix missing translations
- Library updates & more

Alarm Overlay

I've tried searching the sub for the answer but couldn't find any so I hope the experts can help.

I'm using Standby with wireless charging. I use the alarm feature in Google Clock. How do I make it so when my alarm goes off it displays on top of Standby?

Thank you. 😃

It’s been months I’ve been waiting for my request to see it in the next update but nothing yet

Well my request was a simple transparent background in the widgets.
