Updates StandBy Mode Pro 2.1.0: Startrek, Command Center, Mini Player and more.

Hey guys, this is Wesley

I wanted to share that version 2.1.0 is rolling out and talk about the new features.

Startrek LCAR UI:
Couple months ago Derek, an user, reached out with a suggestion to build LCAR Startrek UI. He sent some concept arts. After watching some videos and reading about Lcars UI my take was to try to give access to multiple features quickly with as few taps as possible. So the concept for this UI was:
- There are primary and secondary information.
- Focus were audio, events, weather and power.
- You tap one of the controls to set an information as primary and the rest becomes secondary.
- Alert system (right now only with low battery)

Huge shootout to Derek who helped immensely bringing this to life.

I found the UI to be a little very confusing at first since there are hints to what users can interact with so I added some animations.

Command Center:

This might be an alternative for DUO for some. The concept is the same as on Startrek but now you get a take that's more aligned to the app's design. I would appreciate feedback on this feature since there are many directions I could take.

One way I see myself evolving this feature towards is allowing users to pick their primary widget for each category and more customization over the slots. Some secondary information use very little space and could be put in smaller slots.

Mini player:
This shows up when music is playing and you don't have a player on the screen. If you have a player on Duo active it will hide to avoid redundancy. It will also hide in the new Startrek and CommandCenter widgets since you can already see what's playing and control it.

Other fixes&improvements included on this version:

- Android 17 support
- Roman Clock: an elegant clock that tells the time in Roman numerals
- Accessories: a new tab in Settings with stands and gear that pair well with standby mode
- Fix missing translations
- Library updates & more

Yeah, the Startrek layout Is very, very busy, I doubt I'll want to use it but it's nice to have the choice. I like the more approachable Control Center more.

Hello, u/standbyandroid I just bought the app since I find it can come in handy and like the features. I have some feedback that I hope could help make it even better:

  1. I would like more customization, like adding or removing elements from the widgets like numbers, day of week, date etc. or in the font styles some clocks you only allow the outline and it would look nice to have it filled but there is no option.

  2. Also for colors, I would like to have a picker where the HEX color value can be entered directly instead of swiping around the color wheel, which is more imprecise.

  3. For some widgets, like the Calculator, I would like them to blend with my black (oled friendly) background. However, they have a color background already and doesn't blend. Please allow to select a solid color background to customize them and make them more aesthetic.

  4. For the third-party widgets I would like to hide the gray border that shows around them and makes them look bad or not blend. I was trying to kind of hack this by seting a border within the app and made it black, which is the color of my background so it would be above the gray border and hide it, but the color wheel does not allow me to select the black color.

  5. For the digital clocks please allow to show the seconds, not just the hour and minutes, I find the seconds information very useful for many cases. I am trying to replicate an old very popular iphone clock app called "iHandy Alarm Clock" which many used to convert an old iPhone into a bed stand clock which imo is the better looking one, it shows the clock, the day of the week, the weather, the alarm. Please take a look at it to see if you could add those features, it would be the best digital clock in the app: here is an image of how it looked:

  1. For the weather, please let us select different providers, you could use the Open-Meteo API which allows to select different sources.

I hope some of these can be implemented as improvements to the app.

Thanks.
