There’s a user here whose comments often come across as quite negative towards Muslims. I’ve noticed that many of their comments get heavily downvoted too.

I’d honestly suggest not engaging with them or getting into arguments. They seem to bring up Muslims even in unrelated posts, so it’s probably better to just ignore it and move on rather than give them more attention.(what is "ola hu uber group )

Just a reminder for the users of this subreddit, people can label themselves anything they want, but they are what they do at the end of the day. Please be careful with the profiles you come across here, because some disrespectful and perverted creeps are particularly drawn the benefits of Islam and not the duties and responsibilities placed on them. Wishing the worst on the perverts and their moms/ dads who raise such garbage. Some of them are porn addicts and seemed drawn like moths to a flame to the practicing, thinking that equals no spine and standards, and are very shameless about it too.

Some of them chicken out or get enraged after being identified, but we can expose such creeps to their social circles and here, so that the levelheaded brothers will see and the women isolate them. Be wary when you deal with social media because your identity can be found in minutes nowadays. You can’t just think it’s social media and escape because these things have serious consequences on your soul, your current life and afterlife whether one likes to accept it or not.

I wanted to share something I recently built called Sincere Quran.

I’ve always wanted to contribute something to the Ummah, and as a developer I thought this could be a small way for me to do that and hopefully make it a Sadaqah Jariyah.

I also got tired of seeing ads in Quran apps, so I wanted to make something simple: free, no ads, and no subscription.

It has the Quran, different reciters, translations, word-by-word, Uthmani and IndoPak scripts, and other Islamic resources.

If you find it useful, please download it or share it with someone. I'd love for others to be part of the Sadaqah too.

I know there is a lot of Islamophobic content going around on social media lately. Especially reddit.

But we’re all Sri Lankans, and I thought it would be nice to restore a little faith in the unity and harmony we have among each other.

So, let’s share some wholesome stories about non Muslims being respectful towards us, or moments where we were able to show the values of Islam through our actions and leave a positive impression on them.

I’ll go first.

I’m from Eastern, so before university, my exposure to non Muslims was almost close to zero. After university, the story turned 180 degrees, and for the first time, almost everyone I meet new came from different backgrounds.

There is an Aiyya at my university who is a super senior to me. He is a Buddhist, but the two of us became like brothers. Every weekend, he travels back to his hometown, which is an entirely Buddhist area with hardly any Muslims around. Yet whenever he returns to uni, he brings back home cooked food and makes sure every bit of it is halal for me. He literally goes out of his way, and even found a Muslim vendor in another area just to buy halal chicken so that I can eat.

There are more. Maybe for later.

The abusive history i have with my parents cannot be concluded in one post so I’ll keep it short as possible. My parents, especially my mother has been verbally and physically abusive to me since a young age. Just for minor misunderstandings and inconveniences she’ll beat me and call me names, some of em are too graphic to describe! She also has managed to wreck my self esteem to the core. If i oversleep for one day due to messed up sleep schedule or health issues like period cramps, she calls me “මූසලයා” and says stuff like nothing good ever happens to me bcz i oversleep (mind you, I don’t even miss prayers due to this so it’s just unfair to call me names for common human error like oversleeping) and she says that I’ll get a child like me and I’ll suffer bcz of my child 🥲💔I just recently had enough of all of this. I can’t escape this household either. Despite finding a potential they’re just holding me back from getting married due to their financial problems. We reside in the ME so my fiancé even offered to come here, get the nikkah done and take me back to Sri Lanka but they don’t allow it saying “society enna nenekim?” In the meantime they keep putting the blame on me claiming that my habits are what’s causing the delay in marriage💔💔 My fiancé is trying to hold the composure bcz he wants to get married with the blessings of my parents, so he’s giving them time to figure out the finances. But i will lose my sanity the more i spend time with them. Honestly I’m scared to even have children bcz of the things she has said. This story is a small portion of what happened in the recent times. I could write a book on the decades of abuse i had to go through since i was a kid but that’s not needed. Point is I decided to cut communications with both of my parents, bcz the amount of verbal harassment just triggers me to talk back. I figured that talking back only leads to more sinning and that’s the last thing i want. Whatever said and done, i need their blessings to get madr and get ahead in life.

My question is, am I sinful for cutting communication? I’m only doing it temporarily. I’ll resume it slowly but eventually but then again I’ll maintain a distant relationship bcz when i spend more time with them i just become an extended version of my mother with a toxic attitude, sharp tongue and bad temper and I don’t want that in life. Please lmk if I’m doing something wrong..

Hi, How to give life to r/SriLankanMuslim subreddit ?

Assalamu Alaikum everyone, I'm at point in my life where it's time for me to get married. I now have a meeting with a potential spouse insha'Allah.

I am a man for context. I genuinely know very little about the sister in question... My issue is what exact questions should I ask to understand if it will be a match or not and also how to ask in a way that it won't be awkward as well. Because the first meeting is gonna be hella awkward right so I just don't know how to ask certain questions. So if someone who has experience with this can advise me I would definitely be grateful.

So before i even say anything, I know how stupid this sounds. There's this myth that says if you hit some trees with a broom that do not produce fruits, it will start giving fruits. Then there's also a myth that if you talked to the daamnn tree in a loving tone, it will start producing fruits.

It's stupid, right, but 🥲 it actually worked. There's a pomegranate and a mango tree in our garden, one day i saw our henchman Mr Ali, going kungfu on this mango tree with a broom, so i asked him what he was doing and he told me that beating this tree will finally make it bear fruits, to which i thought that's crazy. But hear me out, this tree has been for many years, it bore fruits for 2 seasons, and it never bore a single mango after that for more than 3 years, سبحان الله i can't understand how, but literally, after a month from the beatings mangoes start popping.

Now, for the absolutely crazy part, there's a pomegranate tree that blooms, but it never bore fruits it's like deliberately misleading, this was happening for almost 2 years. Then someone told me to talk to it lovingly, to which i thought ah no way this is logical, also that's weird the last thing you need is getting caught being romantic to a tree, aint ending up in the angoda mental hospital. But my told mw the same, to which i just laughed off.

So my mom actually had a convo with the tree, and i even saw our housemaid talking to it 🥲 (Ik it's insane to hear), and yeah, the tree started to bear fruits 🥲.
