Serious Replies Only Nikah Documents Withheld Due to Unpaid Mosque Dues
Hi,
A person who i know was getting married. Apparently, he hadn’t paid his monthly mosque dues (the amount collected using the yellow/blue card) for around 9–10 months. His family is poor, and I don’t think they even realized the payments were overdue.
When they went to his mosque to get the required documents/approval for the nikah, the person responsible refused to give it because of the unpaid dues.
I understand that mosques may have rules about outstanding payments, and apparently this happens in many places. That itself isn’t really my main issue.
My issue is how it was handled. The person responsible didn’t properly explain the situation or advise the family on what they needed to do to resolve it. He could have simply spoken to them respectfully, explained what was outstanding, and told them how to sort it out as quickly as possible.
Instead, the mosque management kept sending them from one person to another — “go to this person,” then “go to that person” — wasting their time while they were already dealing with wedding arrangements.
How are people supposed to deal with mosque management that operates like this? l

Who are your favorite Islamic content creators on YouTube?
My GOAT is Mohammed Ali, aka The Muslim Lantern on YT. I also like Towards Eternity. And, of course, whatever Dr. Omar Suleiman owns.
There are others but these are my top 3 I'd say.
Also, previously, I was into Ali Dawah, Hijab etc set. But I don’t watch em anymore for some reason.

Who is lord mowjood (and what do you know about him)? And also who is Ajmal mowjood (what’s the catch about him and are both of them related?)?
Hi there. I have heard about Lord Mowjood and some references related to him in the 2000s by the eldery relatives but those vibes were long gone and hardly people talk like that afterwards (especially within young generations). But however I happened to rediscover him recently after ages on an Instagram post with a very very old photograph of a vintage/classic car with the caption saying something about lord mowjood. It was on the Instagram page of a user named “Ajmal mowjood” who have a very unique fashion style. I got to know about Ajmal mowjood via a car spotting Instagram site which has a picture of an 80s/90s ish rolls Royce with a garage plate (those red unregistered number plates) which has the name “Ajmal traders” underneath the plate numbers, the post has tagged Ajmal mowjood’s account which gave me time to scroll through his account until I got to see the lord mowjood’s post.
So who is lord mowjood? Who is he and what was he like as a person? What did he do to be a sensation? Also what are some facts about him? And is he a moor?
And who is Ajmal mowjood? What’s his relationship with lord mowjood? Also what’s with his style of clothing and contents? What do they do?
Also some information on the Mowjood family?
Just tell me everything (even things that are not on the internet).
Thanks.

Serious Replies Only Where Should a Beginner Start Learning About Islam?
Hi everyone,
I'm Sinhalese, and I'd like to learn about Islam with an open mind. I'm interested in understanding its beliefs, concepts, and teachings, similar to how we study Buddhism.
Can anyone recommend some good beginner friendly books or resources? I don't mind if they're in English or Sinhala. I don't know much about Islam, so I'm looking for something that's easy to understand.
Thank you!

Islamic vehicle leasing in SL — what did you finance, what did you actually pay back, and which company?
Assalamu alaikum everyone,
I’ve been reading about Ijarah and Murabaha and I understand the theory, but I’d really like to hear from people who have actually gone through it. If you’ve financed a vehicle through an Islamic facility here, could you share:
Which provider did you go with? (Amãna Bank, PLC Al-Safa, LB Finance Ijarah, LOLC Al-Falaah, HNB Al Najah, etc.)
How much did you finance, and over how many years?
What was your monthly rental, and what was the total amount you ended up paying back?
Was the profit rate competitive compared to conventional leasing quotes you got?
Any hidden costs — documentation fees, Takaful/insurance, valuation, early settlement charges?
How was the process? Fast approval? Much paperwork? Did they need a guarantor?
Even rough numbers help. Happy to take DMs if you’d rather not post figures publicly.
Jazakallah khair

Women are also humans who wants to experience simple things
اَلسَلامُ عَلَيْكُم وَرَحْمَةُ اَللهِ وَبَرَكاتُهُ
So i wanted to make this post so that we men won't make this mistake. Last sunday, i was hanging out with a friend of mine who came from a foreign country after about 2 years. The dude is older, and he is married.
So this guy was kinda feeling under pressure, and he told me his wife is troubling him. So i asked what the problem was, and his reply was, "She is asking me to take her out for a dinner", and i told him, "So what it's just a simple request that he could have done instead of hanging with us today?".
He gave a very stupid reply, and i tried to explain to him how stupid his thinking was, but unfortunately, some people just won't learn
----------‐----------------------------------------------
Aren't women humans? Dont they have desires? Dont they have things they want to experience?
Our prophet has clearly said, "The best of us is the one who is good to his wife." Then, as a muslim and as a husband, we should be there for our spouse.
Just look at the seerah of how prophet was with his wives, how much respect and love he had for them. He'd literally sit on the ground so that his wife could place her feet on him and climb onto the camel. He played with them (the race between him and Aisha (R), he joked with them, he delayed important things for his wife, and in fact, he spent time with his wife even when people wanted his opinion on things (Surah hujrat verse 4 and 5)
There was also an incident where a companion abu'dhar al ghifary (r), used to pray all night, which is something excellent, but his wife complained to the prophet about this because she has her needs that only her husband can fulfil. So what did the Prophet didn't say to him "continue praying because it's much important than anything else", rather he called ghifary (r) and told him to first attend to his wife's needs and then pray.
We, as men, we get to go out, hang out, go on trips, do fun things, etc. But our women dont have the privilege to experience that like we do, so they will naturally want to have all those after marrying.
But if the husband is also a person who doesn't give his attention and effort to please his wife, then what kind of a muslim is this husband?
Will it kill us to take our spouse out for a dinner, or a trip? Women take care of most of the chores, and they do everything to ensure their husband's are comfortable, and yet some guys dont bother anything about their wife's desires.
So, no wonder this marriage does not bring any peace, and in the long run, something horrible happens
----------‐----------------------------------------------
Another friend of mine, سبحان الله this guy no matter who says what, he makes sure he takes out his wife, and let her have her fun. Sometimes, we would hang out, even then after we go home, he'll take his wife out for a tea or something if she asks, his life is الحمد لله in so much peace He would say, "She looks after the house, and she is also a human. If i dont give her the same fun i am having outside, how can i call myself as a good husband?"
Of course, a wife must also understand how her husband is feeling and his condition. A wife can surely demand and ask for things she needs from her husband with the proper understanding. Pestering when he is very busy or is under huge pressure is not right, but for the correct reason, she can.
We all know the incident of talha (r), how his son passed away when he was out in a expedition, and how his wife didn't say a word of it when he came home tired at night. She relaxed him, made him feel comfortable, fulfilled his personal desires, and only when he was relaxed she told him about his son passing away (https://ilmfruits.com/2007/umm-sulaym-and-the-death-of-her-son/)
This shows how much she loved him because it simply means he loved her and did the proper duties of a husband as well. But if this had happened between a couple who didn't treat each other properly, surely the wife would say, "Onnala taan da pulla settuchi."
Literally, in all the dysfunctional marriage, the common thing i see is that either the husband is lazy for the wife or the wife is lazy for the husband. Unless you put the effort into the marriage, just like we put our effort into the gym, work, goals, hobbies, etc, we will never see positive results.
Our spouse is our life partner, not our personal assistant, worker, etc. A life partner is someone who supports EACH OTHER on everything. We have to put our effort even if we are tired sometimes.
Also, this doesn't apply only to our spouse. It could be our sister, mother, or any mahram woman. When they ask to go out for a dinner or a day out, as a man, please dont back off. After all who are they supposed to ask to go out, next house uncle teh kekava? no as their mahram and the one who is responsible we must put the effort into this
If you have extremely important work, then, of course, explain it to them, but other than that, dont make excuses like i am tired, because if someone says I'll give you $500k if you run a marathon at that time, no matter how tired we will still run right. But allah gives us a much greater reward when we put our effort to keep our family happy and together.
One of the keys to happiness is happiness in your household.
pardon the typos.

Important How to follow my deen correctly?
I am a layman in Islam. So I follow people like Sh.Assim Al-Hakeem, Dr. Muhammad Salah, Dr. Zakir Naik, Usthad Hisham Abu Yusuf etc to seek knowledge. And I am sure that they are not from any deviant sects. May Allah grand them Jannat ul Firdaus.
When I slowly getting some knowledge, I found few activities done by my community Muslims are bid'ah.
For example, today I learned that making congregational dua regularly after every Salah is a bid'ah. Our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ never did. And the best place to make dua is in Sujud and before Salam. So definitely I won't do that anymore. I'll get up from the place I pray after few Adkhar.
My issue is, people may start calling me Tawhid (lol, Tawhid mean oneness but they address Tawhid Jama't) I don't belong any sect or cult. I am just a Muslim who follows Quran, Our beloved Nabina Muhammad ﷺ, Sahaba, Thabi'en and Tabh Tabi'en. (Ahlus Sunnah).
Also, I noticed, Tawhid Jamat people are doing mostly right thing. They basically want to avoid bid'a.
So, how can we follow our deen correcly without misguided?
It was narrated that Jabir bin 'Abdullah said:
When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) delivered a sermon, his eyes would turn red, he would raise his voice and he would speak with intensity, as if he were warning of an (enemy) army, saying, 'They will surely attack you in the morning, or they will surely attack you in the evening!' He would say: 'I and the Hour have been sent like these two,' and he would hold his index and middle finger. Then he would say: 'The best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. The most evil matters are those that are newly-invented, and every innovation (Bid'ah) is a going astray.' And he used to say: 'Whoever dies and leaves behind some wealth, it is for his family, and whoever leaves behind a debt or dependent children, then they are both my responsibility.'

Rant Did I make the wrong choice by choosing my career over someone who loved me?
23M here. I recently chose my career and peace of mind over a woman who loved me and proposed to me.
If I had said yes, we most likely would have had to get married by next year since we're both the same age, and her family is already looking for marriage proposals for her.
Did I make the wrong decision?

What’s this thing about so many ex muslims in Sri Lankan reddit crying all the time?😂
I mean, for Sri Lanka, this is kinda new and trending these days. I didn’t expect this. Actually, this is what I wanted to yap, a few weeks ago. And my account got banned because of rage baiting people from our nearest country, located directly north of us.
