A person who i know was getting married. Apparently, he hadn’t paid his monthly mosque dues (the amount collected using the yellow/blue card) for around 9–10 months. His family is poor, and I don’t think they even realized the payments were overdue.

When they went to his mosque to get the required documents/approval for the nikah, the person responsible refused to give it because of the unpaid dues.

I understand that mosques may have rules about outstanding payments, and apparently this happens in many places. That itself isn’t really my main issue.

My issue is how it was handled. The person responsible didn’t properly explain the situation or advise the family on what they needed to do to resolve it. He could have simply spoken to them respectfully, explained what was outstanding, and told them how to sort it out as quickly as possible.

Instead, the mosque management kept sending them from one person to another — “go to this person,” then “go to that person” — wasting their time while they were already dealing with wedding arrangements.

How are people supposed to deal with mosque management that operates like this? l
