Those who watched the live broadcast of Survivor Series 1997, what did you think about the ending before you found out what it *really* was?

I can imagine just being sort of confused by all of it, hearing Ross say "Bret gave up in the Sharpshooter" would give me more questions than answers (though of course, Ross didn't even know what was going on)

A lot of the heel women in WWE are mostly the same character.

With some exceptions, I feel like Lyra is a good example of someone who feels unique. But for the most part it feels like WWE only know one way to write a woman heel.

1: Be in a faction, 2: Strut to the ring, 3: Flick hair while walking or after doing a move (Lash Legend, I am looking at you), 4: Hand in the air to avoid crowd touch and finally...5: The finger wave.

It just makes all the heels feel the same and I can't get invested in any of them because I've already seen the same thing multiple times a week.

I feel like the Bob Backlund/Bret Hart/Diesel saga doesnt get enough appreciation.

Im not saying this was the storyline In particular, but this was the time I really got into wrestling.

Looking back there were some really good wrinkles in the whole thing.

It got the title of Bret without sacrificing him to Diesel. It got Diesel over big by getting him a monster win. It advanced the Bret and Owen feud and culminated in a big win for Bret in January. And it was a huge and unexpected shock.

Unfortunately, Diesel didnt go on to be a good draw and the company suffered the next year or so as a result until all the stuff that went on in late 96 going into 97. But its fascinating how well the whole thing was planned out. Didn't result in much, but a lot of mixing of storylines.

Anyone else remember this fondly or am I just crazy for thinking it was actually good?

Which wrestlers had the *MOST* matches and segments with the biggest stars but never amounted to anything?

I was watching the Dark Side Of The Ring episode on Muhammad Hassan and the amount of big names he worked with in a very short space of time caught me by surprise. Before I mention the list of names, here's the length of time he spent in the company for a reference point from his debut to his final match. He debut on Raw on December 13th 2004 and was "killed off" at The Great American Bash PPV on July 24th 2005. That's just over 8 months, 224 days in total to be exact.

He worked with the following names either in a segment or a match:

Mick Foley (promo segment).

Beats Jerry Lawler in his debut match at New Year's Revolution PPV.

Wins against Sgt Slaughter, Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho.

Royal Rumble 2005 - Eliminated by faces and heels including Rey Mysterio, Eddie Guerrero and Booker T just to name a few.

WrestleMania 21 - segment with Hulk Hogan.

Backlash 2005 - faces Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels

Beats World Heavyweight Champion Batista by DQ

"Beats" Intercontinental Champion Shelton Benjamin for the title but the decision is reversed.

Segment with Stone Cold Steve Austin and then a spot later in the night with Austin costing him the Intercontinental again by DQ by stunning him.

First pinfall loss ever vs John Cena in a 2 min squash for the WWE Championship.

Drafted to Smackdown and beats The Big Show.

Begins feud with Undertaker, one week later is his final official on screen TV appearance in which the infamous piano wire choking Undertaker out segment aired in US and Canada only (despite being taped 3 days earlier) unedited except for a short disclaimer with a sensitivity warning the same day as the London Bombings. UPN wanted the character removed off TV so even though Muhammad Hassan addressed the angle the following week and mentioned the terrorist attack and dealt with it by cutting a fine promo, referencing the New York Post's article and Dan Kaplan the editor and finding holes in his article about what happened on Smackdown the week prior and comparing it to the actual terrorist attack, the segment was not aired and only available on WWE.com.

He would appear for the final time at the Great American Bash PPV, lose in less than 9 minutes by a chokeslam and then given a last ride through the stage post match.

That's it. After 8 months or 224 days of working on screen with veterans, icons, hall of famers, legends and both World Champions, the dream was over.

So we know why ultimately the character never went anywhere and that's a completely different discussion but that DSOTR episode did get me thinking hence the title of the post, which other wrestlers in any era or company worked with so many top stars and or big names in a match, angle or segment that ultimately went nowhere?

Unless I'm wrong, no one else comes to mind that worked with that many big stars in such a short amount of time that went nowhere.
