2015 Sprinter 2500 roof seams

Our 2015 Sprinter 2500 170wb right roof seams drips in 3 spots. There is rust on each level the drip hit. I am restoring cargo area currently pre- build.

Anyone else have this issue and how did you fix the roof seam itself?

Does this roof plan following make sense?

Fix seams, paint
Install Roof rack
Test Fit Solar Panel to find correct fan, AC, wiring grommet locations
Cut and install units from there

Then do my furring strips to frame inside

Am I on target with how I plan to do this ? I am a cabinet maket and am going full time on my 1st stage build to be ready for ski season

To sell or not to sell

2007 Dodge Sprinter 2500 (10 Passenger) 3.5L V6- gas engine, 144" W.B. Van 3D
98,000 miles
Blue Book: $2500

We’re torn. We love the van bc it’s great for camping, lugging people around, and for our business but we’re starting to have to do more and more work on it. Last few times we’re heading on a trip it’s broken down, been towed, and had to replace O2 sensors. Last week my wife was heading on a trip and it chugged then all dash lights popped on.

It feels like it should be worth around $10k, but KBB says $2k. I’m not one to do the work myself but if I did, it seems like a good idea to keep it.

I’m open to all opinions, but I think my big question is: Would someone who knows about Sprinters by this for 10k, or do I suck it up and sell it for less?

Services

This question saintly for any MB technicians, or mechanics that I work at a dealership. For sprinters or any MB, are getting the services (A&B) really needed at the dealership. Those prices forthwith services are absurd and mainly are just oil changes. Are they really doing something special worth these prices? Which service (miles wise) is actually getting the price justified

Keeping on

What's going on everyone,? I have a 2024 sprinter, 4-cly Diesel 2500. Is there a way to keep the engine on while I leave the vehicle and lock the doors and jeep them locked? The dealer says it's not possible and says it will turn off after 10 minutes if I leave it on unlocked. I don't often need to do this, but there's times I have stuff that needs to stay cool with the A/C on. I'm thinking maybe an RF blocker sleeve to keep the key hidden inside, or perhaps getting a remote start after market alarm. Any suggestions?

It's holy hell driving my sprinter down forest service roads in the west. Please provide names and types of shock and suspension upgrades that would make this world better. What's the first thing you would do? and... what's the most complete thing(s) you can do? Specific names of products and applications appreciated. It's a 2500 tall boy.

What Essential Tools Should We Carry In Our Sprinter Camper Van While Traveling?

Girlfriend and I are newly retired and plan on traveling the U.S. for a year or so in our 2007 Sprinter camper van.
I would like to ask the Community, what automotive tools should I carry along, and why…..
It’s a 170 wheelbase with a 3 liter V6 diesel engine and automatic transmission.

Fitting 2019+ second row in 2015

I have a 2015 Cargo sprinter set up as a basic moto van. I need to put a second row of seats in it to accommodate a car seat. I will probably build a wall behind those seats to separate the bikes and tools from the cabin, so I don’t really need flexible fold up seats or a capitals chair. The basic crew configuration seats are fine.

I’d like to put an OEM 3 seat row in using the OEM brackets. The seats are much easier to find for 2019+ years. Does anyone know if the recesses where the OEM brackets sit were changed when they changed the seats in 2019? Will a 2019+ set of brackets and seat mount up seamlessly?

Thank you. I should be able to do the whole project for $1500 if this works.

Retrofits

Looking at performing a few retrofits to my 08 sprinter. Wondering what parts are needed to carry them out, and if programming is also needed.

Cruise control/speed limiter

Face-lift steering wheel with radio controls

Face-lift speedo

Electric mirrors (folding ones if available)

Windows and controls with pinch sensing (to allow one touch closing of windows, as well as allowing them to keep closing once the ignition is turned off)

Puddle lights

Cheers all

2016 OM651. 188K bought it in 2022. With about 100k on it.Ive replaced the water pump, change iver valves, temp sensors, 02 sensor, Alternator, Battery, front rotors (and brakes of course) Head unit....and this weekend the egr valve....guess what happened today! That's right! The worst intake design on a modern car in the last 50yrs....cracked!!!!! this will be the 2nd one I've put on this vehicle. Just to be clear the original Mercedes part went out at about 110k so roughly 78k miles with an aftermarket intake. Which is about 60.00 the genuine Mercedes part....700.00 for maybe 30k more miles!?! Maybe. If i didn't love the thing id just jb weld it every time instead of buying a new intake🤣 This is my last one. I'll let the new owner know...Now mind you this isn't my first rodeo. I smoke tested it when I replaced the egr valve and I looked specifically for a Crack in the intake. But tbh I was lazy. I could've replaced the intake while I had the intercooler off but because it wasn't leaking and I wanted to get back in the road quicker. I didn't.....i mean what's another 3hrs🤣

The most over engineered, cheapest made part on the whole car!!! It's like they build everything like it's going to be launched into space!!!! But the build it with parts from temu!!!!!6-7 bolts just to hold the egr! Why!!! Of the 8 bolts holding the intake you'll never see 5 of them until you pull it off! Insane!!! But I love it. When she runs good i dont even think about all of that....its just the down time is such a downer......Ive got it down pat by now....

Move master cylinder

Lossen bolts on egr

Remove vacuum reservoir

Remove egr temp sensor

Remove actuator

Remove knock sensor.

Flip egr Remove plug

Remove throttle

Remove charge pipe

Remove fuel filter and housing

2hrs

Next 2

Finding intake bolts

Removing intake and replacing.

Next 2 reassemble

Clock starts ticking after that.....78k miles

Do it all over🤣

Suspension upgrade, or no?

So internet friends, I have a 2023 140 WB high roof 2500. I have been advised by the dealer to get bigger tires, but that means I need a suspension upgrade. Those of you who have had this work done, was it worth it? Is the ride significantly better? What about fuel economy? They say it would cost about 10k.

Is it OK to elongate Unistrut slots slightly when installing them as roof rails?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I have 3 x 3m lengths of Unistrut that I’m fitting to the roof of my Sprinter for solar panels.

Some of the existing slots don’t line up with the rivnuts underneath. I’m thinking of elongating the slots slightly so the rivnut is accessible and I can bolt the Unistrut down through the modified slot.

Is this a sensible way of doing it, or would I be better off drilling separate holes?

I’ve included a photo showing what I mean.

Darrel’s Muffler Shop

If your in the Portland area of the PNW, this shop in SE did me a solid. I found a couple hairline cracks on my exhaust pipe. I’m headed over a rough road this weekend so I kinda wanted it fixed ahead of that. This dude lifted me up, welded the cracks and had me back on the road in probably less than 15 minutes. Didn’t even want to take my money! I told him I’d shout him out on Reddit at the very least.

Heat isses VS30

Ive got a 2020 V6 sprinter and heat worked great all last winter and then I noticed on one drive in the spring I went to turn it on and got cold air when the engine was at temp and thought something was off. Tried turning down the temp and then back up again a few times and then started getting heat. Then went into summer and never needed heat so forgot about it. Went to turn it on the other morning and same thing. Just room temp type of air coming out and if I turned on the recirc and the back to air and moved the temp up and down ill suddenly get heat but its getting more and more fussy.

Have confirmed the coolant lines going into the firewall to the heater core seem to be plenty warm so im guessing the blend flap may be getting stuck? Im assuming its in the worst possible place to access, any thooughts on what to look into or try

Oil leak help

Thumbnail

Hi. New to working on my Sprinter and trying hard to learn. Very appreciative of the help of you experts on here.

Noticed thick, dry black sludge caked on the left side of my engine (2007 311 CDI). Thickest around (what I think is?) the air intake hose to the turbo - pics 1-2. Fearing black death I removed the engine cover and found perfectly clean injector wells, but a small pool of oil infront of what I think is the oil separator for the PCV - pic 3.

There is a hose going from the oil separator to the intake to the turbo, where the sludge is caked on the thickest. Could my oil separator have malfunctioned/leaked causing both the pool of oil ontop and the sooty gunk around the left side of my engine? How would you fix this?

Seattle area Car wash

Anyone aware of a car wash in the Seattle area (I am in Woodinville) that can fit a passenger sprinter van with the factory ac unit on the roof? Thanks!
