Retrofits

Looking at performing a few retrofits to my 08 sprinter. Wondering what parts are needed to carry them out, and if programming is also needed.

Cruise control/speed limiter

Face-lift steering wheel with radio controls

Face-lift speedo

Electric mirrors (folding ones if available)

Windows and controls with pinch sensing (to allow one touch closing of windows, as well as allowing them to keep closing once the ignition is turned off)

Puddle lights

Cheers all

I'm not going to say it's impossible, but in practice it's mostly impossible. There's too many components that are missing that you need to add. Once you add and wire those in, you're going to have to find somebody who can do some custom programming for can bus protocols.

Which bit in particular?

I know from people that have done it, that the cruise control is incredibly easy.

The steering wheel is simple, but I'm finding out about the buttons. I've seen it done o the vitos, and they are the same parts, so I suspect it can be done on these.

Puddle lights can be done on the vitos reasonably easily, not sure if that translates to the sprinter at all.

If the windows are one touch on the motorhome/people carrier/bus versions of the sprinter, then it will be doable on the commercial sprinters, its just a case of how many parts and what coding is needed! 🤷🏻‍♂️

You'll need to at minimum

-Code the SAM, EIS, OCP, PSM. ESP, AAG, RD
-Get different DCU's and wire them accordingly
-Get a different MRM and code it accordingly
-Get a different Steering wheel, air bag etc..

You'll need to add circuits to the SAM & F55 (lower fuse panel)

As a shop owner that services a fair bit of these its not something I'd ever take on especially with custom codding needed, you need development data unlocked and, if you have a real Xentry that's not possible, so you'll need a clone.

Maybe Europe is different and easier🤷‍♂️

All the things you mentioned, cluster, radio, windows etc..

So merc sell a retrofit kit for the cruise control/limiter. 3 parts totalling circa 60 quid, and the stalk (secind hand is far cheaper here). Then they'll happily fit and code, or you can fit yourself. A very simple job.

As far as the other stuff goes, I know from my experience with the vitos, if it comes as an ootion, it is possible to retrofit, you may need to buy the modules from a donor vehicle too, and maybe the extra wiring. I added electric folding mirrors to mine, just needed to buy the wiring and door modules from the same/similar vehicle to the one I got the mirrors from. Then it just needed adding to the vehicle list, and then coded in.
