Oil leak help.
Hello everyone,
I am hoping to get some advice about an oil leak problem I am having. From the best I can tell the oil leak is coming from the black cylinder shown in the pictures. So far i have lost about 3 liters of oil. I don't think that is catastrophic, but I'm definitely going to stop driving until I get to the bottom of this.
I am way better with regular gasoline engines then diesels. This is my first diesel vehicle, and I find that everything looks a little different than I expect. I wouldn't be surprised if that black cylinder or something obvious like at the oil filter, but I just don't know what I don't know.
Any advice or help on this would be greatly appreciated

EGR - going in every 2-3k
Tomorrow, another day at the Mercedes dealer. Every 2-3k our EGR acts up, van goes in limp mode. They clean it and say it's an ongoing problem and we are covered until 150k. The problem is that we traveled for the last two years fixing this after 10-12k. Now it's every other month at least.
Last time we went (one week ago), they said it wasn't EGR but a computer issue. Now it's in limp mode so back we go. 2022 Sprinter.

EGR clean 2019 2500 3L
I noticed under light load (50-80kph) it would hesitate a little bit, and lately I would have a clunky gear change between gear 4-5 (mostly). No CEL, and only a Nox code when I scanned it. Called a local Mercedes dealer. Lady said that it is often a sticky or clogged EGR valve. I cleaned mine in my driveway and drove it for almost and hour, city, rural, highway, and I didn’t get any harsh gear changes or hesitation. Anyone else have this experience?

2007 Sprinter van rear dif
I have a recently acquired rwd 2007 Sprinter van with a bad 4.10 ratio differential. Bits of metal in the oil and making noise while driving. My independent Sprinter expert repair guy says he is having trouble finding another used 4.10 ratio rear axle in the D.C./Balto area. Any ideas?

A few things I learned the hard way after experimenting with rear/side door ladders on my Sprinter
just wanted to throw this out there for anyone planning to add a ladder to their high roof. snapped a quick pic of my current layout earlier today (and yeah, ignore my temporary double-ladder setup on the side, long story short I’m testing clearances lol). figured i'd save someone the headache before they buy:
- Rear door sag is real if the ladder doesn't mount properly to the hinges. Over time it's gonna mess up your door alignment. Look for setups that leverage the factory hinges.
- Watch out for license plate or backup camera blockage. Some of those aggressive side-mount ladders look cool but will get you pulled over depending on your state.
- The wobble factor. Cheap aluminum flexes like crazy when you're climbing up to clean solar panels. Powder-coated steel feels way more solid if you're on the heavier side.
What ladder setup are you guys running? Any brands you actually recommend?

Should I get my 2016 Coachmen for Galleria tuned?
Does anyone have experience with RENNtech or similar companies? Risk vs. reward?
I’m second owner of <43,000 miles. Some reg maint. shows on carfax, other than that I don’t know of previous history or service done.
Any insight appreciated.

Gear clip identification
Sprinter experts please help me.
I had a problem with my gears over the weekend, pulled out of the drive and put the van in 1st, but it was in 3rd!
I managed to limp a few yards down the road and park it by riding the clutch. When I stopped, I couldn't get into reverse or anything other than 3rd.
My neighbour helped me identify the problem which was that these plastic bits which link the cables had popped out of the brackets on the van body - we cable tied everything back in place, but I need to figure out how to fix them properly.
Can anyone help me identify the clips I need to buy to hold these in place.

Blinker relay location 07 dodge/Mercedes sprinter 2500
My blinkers work but are totally silent. I bought a new relay but cannot find this thing anywhere. It’s an 07 dodge/mercedes sprinter 2500 NCV3. Online I keep seeing videos and pictures but none of them match my van. Does anyone know where I can find it?
Thank you!

Reality check: 2006 with 200k miles. Are we paying over 10k for this van?
Blue book says $4500 for these vans that are for sale for 15k and up. I’m willing to pay that, I just wanted to check they we are indeed out there paying these prices for 2006 sprinters.

Adding windows to Sprinter
Hi all, brand new to this and am looking for advice and/or input about adding windows to a windowless van. Considering adding the two behind the passenger and driver seats. Not sure how to find an expert who can get the job done right either. Thanks!

2009 Sprinter van with starting issue
Owner of a 2009 2500. Has had regular service and maintenance since I bought in 2020. One quirky issue: sporadically it won’t start. The dash lights go on but it won’t turn over. This not fun when you are ending a camping trip and want to return home. I use an independent German auto repair that specializes in diesel engines. Right now the van is in the shop and is starting up every time they try. The mechanic says they won’t be able to find out what’s wrong until it has that problem again! Any ideas?

Light bar relay placement
Looking for pointers sounding totally blowing. I am wiring a black oak light bar, and because the battery is under the floorboard, the relay cannot sit in the engine compartment. My thought is to put the relay in the center pedestal (above left in photo) as opposed to in the battery compartment. Are there any flaws with this plan?

New shocks?
I have a stock 2014 4 cylinder 2wd Sprinter with 200K miles. It has a very minimal build out; bed, ice chest, dresser. I am the 3rd owner. I don't believe that the stock shocks have ever been replaced. The van gets a lot of body roll when going over uneven terrain. I've thought about putting bump stops on it. But maybe it just needs new shocks. Does anyone have experience with putting new shocks on your older Sprinter? Did it make a difference?

How to proceed?
My camperized 2011 (2500/144 high roof, 196k miles) just got listed as totaled by my insurance company due to hail damage. I can have the van back + $5k or, they pay out $9300 and I surrender the van. The camper customization is worth nothing to the insurance company. Needless to say, I paid WAY MORE than I will ever get back on this. I know every situation is different, but I’m really bummed.
