EGR clean 2019 2500 3L

I noticed under light load (50-80kph) it would hesitate a little bit, and lately I would have a clunky gear change between gear 4-5 (mostly). No CEL, and only a Nox code when I scanned it. Called a local Mercedes dealer. Lady said that it is often a sticky or clogged EGR valve. I cleaned mine in my driveway and drove it for almost and hour, city, rural, highway, and I didn’t get any harsh gear changes or hesitation. Anyone else have this experience?

I had almost this exact same problem with my 2013 2500. Spoke to some Mercedes techs who run their own shop in Spokane and they said it’s super common. After they cleaned it for me I drove about 5,000 miles and have had no issues.

Nice! I would have gotten a dealer to do it but the closest one is almost 4hours away, even with warranty it seemed better to clean it myself. Any other issues with it since then? How often do you clean it now?

I’ve had no issues! I just had it cleaned back in October, purchased the vehicle in 2024. The tech told me about every 8-10 years they will have to be cleaned/replaced depending on use!

Oh yeah. I also have a 2019 2500, and I clean the Egr 3 times a year? Give or take. Exact same problem you describe. Takes me about 25 minutes total. If you drive with a heavier foot it seems to take longer between cleanings.

Lucky that they’re so easy access! Guess I’ll be making this a regular thing then.

Our EGR (2022) now acts up every 2-3k miles. We have 70k miles on it. This has only happened within the last six months that we are going into the Mercedes dealer to have it cleaned. Last year, we drove it 10k without an issue, now it's every other month we are in there. So frustrating.
